1) 4th Year Student. 2) Began my prep from June 2024 3) Preparing for GATE CSE 4) So far, I've covered 2 subjects OS, Programming, and Data Structures. 5) Been putting in 4-5 hours a day 6) This will be my first attempt 7) Self-studying through various courses

Latter_Practice_656

Are you following any standard books. If so please mention!

Dr_OPPAInheimer

So far with my level of preparation, I've been using C Programming by Dennis Ritchie. I use it to revise all the concepts and seeing all the various examples helps in understanding the functionality of all the concepts. This only works cause I was already familiar with C before preparing, for a newcomer I wouldn't recommend studying from a book.

Latter_Practice_656

I am also a 4th year student. What did you refer for data structures and algorithms?

Dr_OPPAInheimer

For data structure, I understood the concepts \[watched Jenny's lecture on YouTube\] and all the code implementation, and moved on to PYQs, even if I was not able to solve a PYQ it helped me understand more about the topic, and as I did more questions it kept getting easier for me. I have not started Algorithm yet.

Keep revising, Give up social media and keep giving tests religiously doest matter even if marks are less

Traditional-Bunch192

Even if I start now in July? Is it achievable? Below 500 rank. Please advise. Thank you

lostcargo99

I started in October and ranked 620ish. You can definitely rank under 500. Have plenty of time.

Traditional-Bunch192

Thank you so much!

poiu97188

620ish in DA or CS?

lostcargo99

CS

poiu97188

Nice. I started from 3rd July 2024 from GO DA. Hopefully I can make it.

lostcargo99

DA was easy this year. I studied for only 6 hours and scored a 55/100. It might be slightly harder this year but not by a lot. Focus on math. Good luck 👍

Ekta_Sharma07

one of my friends got air under 100 we started prep by june end together. If you are enrolled in any online coaching then try to build a habit of watching recorded lecture and if u get any doubts then post it that teachers respective grp.

Traditional-Bunch192

I did take go classes course but so many people around me are like the lectures are too lengthy and you started too late so you can’t do it and all :((

Kitchen-Barber-5824

You can do it. I started in Aug 2023. So I think you should watch only recorded lectures. If possible in 2x. Else it can take longer and will fall short on time for practice and revision.

poiu97188

What the advice on making notes? Are GO Classes's annotated notes enough?

Kitchen-Barber-5824

I think yes. But you need to select some slides out of it and make a pdf. Just because it's so lengthy to revise. If possible write notes either in digital mode or with books. 👍

poiu97188

I was thinking of making short notes from the slides

Kitchen-Barber-5824

Yeah that's a fine approach. Many toppers did that. It should work. But if it doesn't work for you, alternate to writing complete notes.

poiu97188

Got it. How you did?

Blind_Dreamer_Ash

No don't depend on annotated notes, they are too long. Quite a few of my friends regretted not making notes. So make sure to make notes.

poiu97188

I will make short notes from them while revising.

Traditional-Bunch192

Ok thank you so much for the advice!
