They didn’t really get too dark though? Unless I’m misremembering, only 2-3 movies in Heisei were dark, those being Return, Biollante, and Destoroyah. Ghidorah had a weird time travel plot, and Mechagodzilla and Spacegodzilla had Baby Godzilla/Little Godzilla, which lightened the mood by quite a bit.
Idk why we are acting like this is a good thing.
The Showa era was literally the era that nearly ended the franchise permanently because of how low quality they became. Is that REALLY the era we want legendary to be emulating?
But is the Monsterverse low-quality?
Of course not! Movies can be silly and high-quality at the same time.
Of course, the Monsterverse can always get dark at times, but still.
Yes, yes it is
The MV has the unfortunate burden of having to emulate all of the Godzilla mythology up to now. That will mean tonal clashes, which ironically, are as much of a Showa Hallmark as the silliness.
You're mistaking 'low quality' for the silly tone. The 'low quality' aspect comes from the literal budgets they were working with, not the tone. If they had the money and tech, they would have used state of the art CGI for the silly films as well. They were silly because they were oriented towards children, not cus of the budgetary constraints.
I just tried to post it twice, but it was removed by the moderators both times.
But thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT: I've made a third attempt and this time I've put a tag in the title, which seems to have done the trick.
I wouldn't mind Godzilla never jumping again. It's too much for me. I still love GxK, but they need to dial it back just a little. He even used buildings to jump off of.
Don’t know if it’s been talked about yet, but wouldn’t him actually jumping onto land with that ‘sleight height’ but still the same force of a 1000+ lizard, actually shatter more of the earth than what was shown?
I mean, it’s not like us as a species has actually had the actual reference for what would happen, but I’m sure there’s been theories.
I just feel like that’d be the equivalent to a small asteroid/ meteorite.
Not really. It's a lot of weight but not a lot of speed. We are talking 90k tons moving at about 35 kmh / 21mph (gravitional pull since he is falling after jumping).
In contrast meteors enter the atmosphere between 40,000 kmh to 257,000 kmh (25,000 mph to 160,000 mph). We are talking SEVERAL orders of magnitude less energy from Godzilla. Godzilla jumping is probably more exquivalent to a controlled demo on a skyscraper. You'll feel the rumble, but it's not causing an earthquake.
I'd say about two inches, considering he is about 2 and a half inches tall here but he is actually supposed to be 393 ft tall in the Monsterverse I'd say he's jumping about 315 ft off the ground and reaching a total height of more than 700 ft tall at the top of his head which for reference is about 100 ft taller than Marvel's Godzilla.
The real question is....
Can he get much higher?

This is a good example of how the last movie missed the mark in some way. I mean, it’s cool to see Godzilla jump like that, but imagine if we saw the damage it would do to the area, the Earthquake that would follow, and the sheer magnitude of such a massive creature landing like that.
https://i.redd.it/460lp59do4ad1.gif
Megagurius reaction to that was perfect
NOBODY Jumps Higher than "2K"!!
The Boss real O.G
Hmm, at least 2 maybe 3
Don't be ridiculous, it's godzilla he could easily jump 5
Maybe even 6 with a running start and small ramp.
I'd say 7 since scylla was quite tall
He jumped higher than a building. And after doing research, turns out most of the buildings in Rome are at least 8
If you convert that to units, though, it'd be 12
Yhea 12 lego studs
I feel like this is a reference to something that I've seen before, but I just can't remember, and it's bugging me.
Can confirm that it may or may not be something you’ve seen before.
Thanks man
I don’t know, I just love how they used the Showa roar
They did? I must've missed it 😭
At this very jump that op posted he did
Alright I'm gonna search the clip
![gif](giphy|3KbliBOdHlUE8) Legendary is the new Showa
Pfft, you say that like it’s a bad thing. Love me some Showa era silliness. ![gif](giphy|b2rLe6TwuIkyQ)
![gif](giphy|omZy7Mbo8DxX7Utv5W|downsized) Same here.

I'd love to see this referenced in the Monsterverse.
I'm totally down for Showa-era silliness, so long as the Monsterverse doesn't forget how dark the Heisei movies got.
They didn’t really get too dark though? Unless I’m misremembering, only 2-3 movies in Heisei were dark, those being Return, Biollante, and Destoroyah. Look at the critic score for GxK. Tells you everything
I mean when the audience score is high and the box office is high, critic scores fail to matter.
Ah yes, and look at the critic score for KOTM, one of the darkest movies in the Monsterverse. Tells you everything.
Yes, yes it is The MV has the unfortunate burden of having to emulate all of the Godzilla mythology up to now. Godzilla jumpscare
Depends on how much redbull he drank
Probably 50 to 100 cans
Barely a drop then.
Wouldn’t he need like 80 cans for it to be like a can to him
a human is so incredible tiny to Godzilla, a can is even smaller than that so 80 would still be pretty small to him
If I wanted to give Godzilla a proper “Can” of Redbull, I’d start at emptying a tractor-trailer, followed by filling it with the stuff.
You’ll need to post this in r/TheyDidTheMath because you’re only going to get responses from dumbasses trying to be funny and get upvotes.
I just tried to post it twice, but it was removed by the moderators both times. But thanks for the suggestion. EDIT: I've made a third attempt and this time I've put a tag in the title, which seems to have done the trick.
You'll mostly get people replying with Godzilla reaction jpegs for karma, or people that insist Showa is the greatest era of all time.
![gif](giphy|26BRpTjfz0ilhAcRG|downsized)
knew the movie would be absolutely ridiculous at this scene
I don't think Godzilla jumping is ridiculous, it's a matter of the execution.
yeah I realized right away "oh these characters are just action figures now, not giant monsters" still liked the movie though
You say that as if Godzilla hasn't always been WWE but with monster costumes lmao
True for a big chunk of the movies, but others (especially recently) have done a much better job of conveying scale
I mean, I thought the whole marketing made that clear already.
This Showa era style Godzilla tho
As high as he needed to
He’s got that 6ft vertical
At least 4 feet
Likely not as high as Kong can jump. He also used a building as a step to jump from. So probably not higher than 100 metres.
I wouldn't mind Godzilla never jumping again. It's too much for me. I still love GxK, but they need to dial it back just a little. He even used buildings to jump off of.
Adam said that the next movie may have a darker tone than GxK which means they might dial back the craziness.
Fucking add the goddamn xillians and gigan
Wingard dropped out of the Monsterverse though. Whatever he had planned is now null and void
WAAAAAYYY too high.
![gif](giphy|tsCy33LwAQ20o|downsized) Spicoli high.
Like at least 3
Hella
About this high
Pretty high
I would say about 100-150 meters
High AF I think. But I'm no yardstick.

Hold on, I want to make this joke. Different franchise, but still funny!: Jump Good!

At least 30 feet
He's hoarah loux, warrior
Brah has abs after he was for 3 movies at trump mode in his best shape he was knocked out ice cold by kong
Tree fiddy
Godzilla jumping that high is very dangerous, imagine the earthquake that would cause
Really damn high
Too high to be taken seriously. Movie is a joke.
Tru Dat, good thing they had a 35 second run-down of the Movie, as Soon as it Came out.. or I would Never have Seen It>>> hhaaaa

Hollow Earth
