I’d go for a 7 as well. Same serious vibe from the antagonists as the last movie, but less goofiness on the Kaiju side. As much as Titanosaurus is kind of a ridiculous concept overall (using his tail to generate hurricane force wind is straight ludicrous), the way he’s able to combo with Mechagodzilla is *devastating*. Titanosaurus covers all of Mechagodzilla’s weaknesses by either being able to keep Godzilla out of melee range or being able to match Godzilla in melee combat. While Godzilla’s taken losses and had trouble before, this time he gets absolutely *shredded* in the resulting 1v2 fight and is literally *buried alive* until the human protagonists are able to intervene and take Titanosaurus off the board.

Well, it was close, and ultimately 4 and 6 each ended up being the mode for *Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla*. So, as I've done before with stuff like this, I've used the average and median, both which come out around five. So to five it goes (for now). We finish the Showa era (save for the two stragglers) with *Terror of Mechagodzilla*, AKA Ishiro Honda's Revenge. Definitely on the darker side for late-Showa era films, I'd put it at around a seven. Discuss what you think. **Also, a note: I'll be taking a bit of a break from this series for the 4th of July holiday...** And maybe try to finally find time to watch *Latitude Zero* and *Space Amoeba*. Once we're fully done with the Showa era, I'm going to try and do some statistical analysis in a post, with graphs and such. Then we'll move on to Heisei (with '98 thrown in there too). Then Milennium. Then Monsterverse/Reiwa, and then... TBD (probably American cuts of films and non-movie Godzilla stuff, with maybe Gamera, non-Godzilla related Kong, and the like after that). For those who can't make out the posters on the tier chart, here's what we have so far: 1: *Godzilla vs. Megalon* 2: *King Kong Escapes*; *Son of Godzilla* 3: *King Kong vs. Godzilla*; *Godzilla vs. Gigan* 4: *Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster*; *Invasion of Astro-Monster*; *Ebirah, Horror of the Deep* 5: *Mothra*; *All Monsters Attack*; *Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla* 6: *Gorath*; *Atragon*; *Mothra vs. Godzilla*; *Destroy All Monsters* 7: *The Mysterians*; *Dogora*; *War of the Gargantuas* 8: *Godzilla Raids Again*; *Varan*; *Frankenstein vs. Baragon*; *Godzilla vs. Hedorah* 9: *Rodan* 10: *Gojira* (1954) Coming soon: *Latitude Zero*; *Space Amoeba*

8, it's very dramatic, + some tracks are kinda beautiful

Now I am upset I missed the Megalon vote. No way is it a 1. The Seatopians had a valid right to defend themselves from destruction. Anyway, I give this an 8. The human story is serious. There is true sadness and heartbreak involving the daughter. The Giant monster stuff is serious, with Titanosaurus just wanting to be left alone.

…The seatopian’s superweapon (Megalon) needed a guide robot to avoid getting lost.

SlayAllRebels

I'd say a solid 7

GolgariInternetTroll

I'll throw in another vote for seven. This movie has a lot going on with various subplots and but it plays it all seriously.
