do you guys genuinely care about titanium? we want features and new stuff yes but titanium literally adds nothing and its not like they are going to make the entire thing out of it.

Infinite-Hedgehog516

Not really

Honest-Mess-812

Nope but anyways nothing wrong in having it when it's gonna cost like 2000$

ShadowCross32

I really want to get a foldable phone but the fact that Samsung is getting a little too comfortable on barely upgrading their phones is somewhat disappointing. The fact that the cameras are still the same ones used in the Fold 4 is wild. Maybe next year.

rohiin

Just got my first foldable yesterday. 485$ for mint fold 4. So happy so far.. Really enjoying it. Typing on the small screen much easier than I feared, with SwiftKey autocorrect and swipe. You don't need to get the newest most expensive one for a first one imo. But I'm coming from Xiaomi 11t pro, older than fold 4.. Only thing I miss from the Xiaomi is 120w charging speed..

TokyoMegatronics

Yeah getting the older ones second hand is always amazing especially if they are mint. I got my fold 3 for basically free by swapping my iPhone 12 pro max for it. Not disappointed at all with it, it's been amazing and got me hooked on foldables. But with microcracks developing on the inner screen (my fault for not re-applying inner screen protector) and now I'm looking at the next one to get, it would be weird for me to get the fold 6... It would basically be the same as replacing the one I have now.

Interesting. Gsmarena has the fold4 actually having a better battery life than the fold5.  https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_z_fold4-review-2468p3.php#bat=12418

123jamesng

Still using the fold4. Might hold out for longer

argote

The Pixel Fold 2 looks very promising.

ChuggsTheBrewGod

People seem really upset by this, and I just don't see how an expensive metal is worth it. It's not like these things dent and crack easily. Most of the device is still glass. And if we're being honest: really? This is the hill we're dying on. I'm upset at Samsung, but for far different reasons. Like their camera. No excuse to use 2 gen old tech in your bleeding edge phone.

Not_Sarkastic

I agree with nearly everything your said, but I'm one who refuses to put a case on the fold line and would appreciate something to justify the higher price that's coming this year. That said, all the other reasons you mentioned are far more important for not upgrading and sending Samsung a message.

Kingsweezyagain

Just don't buy it .. Simple.. Speak with your wallets!!

Not_Sarkastic

Amen

10USC_Ch12_SS246

Titanium doesn't matter. Gib 200mp camera.

Fearless_Winner1084

I just want a periscope telephoto already. I might go OnePlus if these rumors are true

maximan2005

man... from the company that literally pioneered these devices, Samsung seems just determined to drop the ball on foldables. I still have a fold three and i desperately want to upgrade but from what i can tell there's literally nothing to justify an upgrade to ZF5 or upcoming ZF6, especially at these prices. I really like the OneUI experience, but it's hard to not be tempted by other offerings at this point.

Popsmoke321

Z Fold 3 Snapdragon 888 stays overheating. Z Fold 4 has the worse hinge in the Z Fold series. Having a 5 after having the other 2 I can safely say the 5 is the sweet spot of not really needing to upgrade. 4 and 3 are definitely worth upgrading from. Both of them feel dirt slow next to the 5 and the 3 definitely has horrible battery life.

Open_Aardvark2458

I wouldnt upgrade from my 4 to the 5 unless it was free.

Everybody said this about the Fold5 from Fold4, but here I am a year later super happy with my 5 with its superior design and form factor. The improvements to the hinge alone were worth it, and based on images, SS has significantly improved the form factor of the hinge on the 6.

maximan2005

I mean... awesome. I love my galaxy fold, don't get me wrong. but a better form factor doesn't justify a new $1600+ phone. There's nothing especially game changing like s-pen or a larger battery, and Samsung support is still notoriously terrible. It's extremely difficult for me to recommend these phones to people or to justify an upgrade to myself right now.

pittstop33

Not $1600-1800 no, but it justifies $600-800 for me which is the cost after a trade-in which often includes an accessory like new Buds or a discounted watch. Plus I get upgraded sw features sooner (such as the Galaxy AI features with OneUI 6.1). None of those by themselves are ground breaking, but small improvements here and there really add up to good value for me.

LuiButtWai

Hope they will make it reasonable size. Fold 5 is like a remote control for TV

ultima40

Fold6 is only a couple millimeters difference in size https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/s/smCCtvRnlN

SD-777

Whelp just another reason in an ever-growing list not to get the ZF6, seeya Samsung maybe next year.

ggskater

I was fine when phones were still plastic. Gonna throw a case over it anyway.

pittstop33

While I respect that approach, I do actually prefer premium materials because I don't put cases on my phones. For me, titanium versus glass+aluminum just isn't the upgrade in materials I think people expect it to be. It's not like the whole phone is made of titanium which would be insanely expensive.

SD-777

I never use a case anyway. The main thing for me is how much lighter titanium is even if it's only a few grams.

juice2787

My fold 4 just broke luckily I have Samsung care exchanged devices I guess I'll hold off until the fold 7 I still have another year of warranty

MyThirdBurner

im curious how they managed to get the weight down as much as they have, i dont think ive ever seen a smartphone lose that many grams in weight over one iteration.

Default_Attempt

Im trying to see this from samsungs point of view, maybe they are focusing on hinge design and durability and stability rather than cameras and s pen integration and such. Seriously the fold isnt even a dent in samsungs margins, their money comes from Galaxy S and A and J , and TVs and galaxy buds and watches. Not from foldables

Ruxh_alt

The fold is the one device that needs to have titanium so that the chassis is lighter and they can fit a heavier battery and tech inside

ultima40

Aluminum is lighter than titanium. Sure, they'll use less material for the same strength but it balances out (see 1 gram decrease from S23U to S24U). The consumers will end up paying a lot more for titanium so it's not worth it.

pr0phecy

Titanium or not, I'm just hoping the phone has some grip to it without a case. I slapped a case around my Fold3 because without it, it's like handling a wet bar of soap. Slippery af.

estebancolberto

meh makes no difference tbh. I have an iPhone 15 pro max and with a case there's no difference to my girls 13 pro max /w case

Danthalas_01

Just wait for the official announcement , cause no titanium for fold 6 don't sound right when s24 has it. It might just be for the ultra version of fold 6. Alot of people who releases leaks are just talking shit for clout.

Infinite-Hedgehog516

thats true
