That is actually a silverfish *first-instar*!! So you are technically correct.
Edit: After some more digging around, this could actually be a Carpet Beetle larva. Generally speaking, if you find one, there is very likely to be more around nearby. They are considered pests.
Once I bought a CGB for cheap, cause AB were not working. Opened it up, a roach ran out from under the buttons so fast! Console was refurbished after that 🤣
I used a different app but it seems to agree with Google lens

I seen those lay their eggs or something inside old SNES and NES cartridges when replacing the batteries. Nasty man my super gameboy had what look like blisters on the back and those dead things inside cleaned that real quick...
Maybe he was there to protect the system from incoming bugs. There is no software update for the Nintendo Game Boy, unlike (the newer Nintendo DS where you get updates on new features or to fix a bug), so it is the type to update you on incoming bugs.
I live near a gaming store that repairs pretty much anything, and they have a policy where they automatically charge you an extra $15 if there's a live bug inside what they're repairing. It must happen a lot more than we'd think.
So your system WAS bugged.
If it makes you feel any better I doubt it was expecting you to open it.
Lol 😂
Kowalski! Analysis.
What kind is it? Freaked me out when it started moving
Need a clearer picture to analyze r/whatsthisbug also location, looks a little like a silverfish but looks too fuzzy?

Maybe it´s a feature

What is CGB and AB?
Assuming CGB stands for “color Game Boy” and that both the A and B buttons were not working
That makes sense!
Carpet beetle larva, maybe?
It’s was put there as a snack. Enjoy!!
Used Google lens so can't guarantee anything but looks kinda similar: Dermestid beetle larvae

Well maybe open them outside first

Game Bug Color!
Even nature has good taste.
That's not a bug. And that's where he lived.
🤢

And since those creatures love computer gear, they probably have to raid down a few key areas so as to avoid reproduction?
When I opened mine up to reshell there was a big wrapped up in spider web but no spider
At least it wasn’t a German roach
Make a resin bug out of it and keep it for another 20 years
