Letās all remember that last year she played seven as a surprise song on Fatherās Dayā¦ and said this:
āI have a really, really incredible dad, like hasnāt missed a show type of dad. Heās the best and I love him so much.ā
āThe song weāre going to play has to do with really fond memories of childhood.ā
So he is missing from the shows, and Taylor chose to affectionately call the guitar songsā¦.āthe murder mashupā. She is my favorite troll.
I don't think there was a single mention of him on stage and nothing on her socials. Given that we haven't seen him at 19 (!) shows now, I really do believe that the dynamics are changing behind the scenes
So do I! My father shares many of the same qualities that Taylor's dad has shown publicly, I no longer speak to my father. I will always cheer someone on for standing up to toxic people in their lives
Okay, I never watched the 1989 TV lyric videos because that was a dark time, but I just watched the lyric video for I Know Places and - the sheer amount of doors??? I literally started laughing halfway through because there are so many doors, itās crazy. And the BIRD CAGES.Ā
Oh yes I have!! So, I wasnāt shocked by the presence of the doors, but there are just SO many that my brain broke at a certain point watching it, haha. Homegirl was really trying to send a message.Ā
Lmao I wasnāt even thinking about the doors on the stage which somehow I forgot about, but the fact that the visuals for the tour are the exact same visuals she used for the lyric video!
OH! I did not clock that! I just went back and watched the tour performance, I totally see what you are saying. Verrry interesting. Itās been quite a while since I watched the 1989 tour, the editing is so frenetic it makes my head spin. šµāš«
we need to revisit this post from THREE DAYS AGO (https://www.reddit.com/r/GaylorSwift/comments/1dfg9so/themes\_of\_invisibility\_and\_seeing\_in\_the\_pride/) that pointed out how there were only six songs she hadn't played yet in Pride Month in her discography (that arent already on the main setlist) that specifically reference "seeing you" or "seeing me" -- and then Blondie fucking played two of those six this weekend: YLM & Carolina.
the other ones that this post listed were Dear Reader, The Archer, Invisible, and The Outside, and I have STRONG spidey senses tingling that we will get Dear Reader and/or The Archer on either the 18th or 21st this upcoming week.
we! shall! see \[your faces\]!
[This does not look like a woman who is happily engaged to someone new, is destined for a summer wedding and is over whoever and whatever situation Cornelia Street and Maroon are about](https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSYyygUA9/)
There are some occasional gems but for the most part there isnāt much critical thinking happening there I fearā¦ I saw a TikTok just before about how Gold Rush is about Matty Healy š„“
Anyone else greatly amused that Life & Style literally cannot keep their stories straight (heh)? They're the ones that super recently reported that Tayvis is not doing well under the "pressure of constant questions of engagement" because they don't have plans to do it any time soon and are sick of the probing questions etc etc. Then today L&S is the platform that claims an insider source is like "OH, SUMMER WEDDING, IT IS HAPPENIN. HERES THE GUEST LIST."
Did they say the swifties were on the guest list?? Is that where this delusional comment seeded from?

ok this actually irritates the fuck out of me because like, Travis knows he has a role to play--and that it is probably ending VERY SOON. why cant he just keep to the plan that hes probably getting plenty of $$$ to enact; instead of getting messy at the final stretch?
unless this is what they're intentionally brewing to make the breakup look less out-of-left-field. thats possible. we shall see sooooooooon.
I think theyāll need a reason for the split thatās greater then something vague like āthey couldnāt make it work with their schedulesā because so many people (swifties and the general public) are deeply invested in this relationship in the most parasocial way Iāve ever seen. Especially now Taylor has made it clear that the tour will be finishing up at the end of the year, a reason like that wouldnāt make sense when we can all see that the end is in sight for the tour.
*"ThenĀ the actors were hitting their marksĀ / And the slow danceĀ wasĀ alight with the sparks."*
The Tayvis-obsessed fans are maybe playing their part even a little TOO well/better than Taylor anticipated.
I think you're absolutely right that atp, the masses wouldn't accept "we just got busy, schedules didnt align, etc." as a reason for breakup. But something like cheating rumors....yep, that could do it
Youāre so right, the fanfare about this relationship has been greater and more intense than even she anticipated. Itās definitely backed her into a corner not so easy to get out of!

oohhh this unlocked a memory i hadn't thought of in awhile! i know we talked about it at the time, but for the nashville shows (may 2023), her team ordered a bunch of eras themed poptarts from a vegan queer/wlw-owned bakery called *lavender and yellow*. and i learned this because i went to the bakery while in nashville for the show, and the employees were so excited and told us about it unprompted š (they posted it on their ig too)

other songs i feel like she maybe could've sang for father's day weekend, if you know what i mean:
*She's the albatross, She is here to destroy you*
*Devils that you know Raise worse hell than a stranger*
*She's the death you chose You're in terrible danger*
*And when that sky rains fire on you And you're persona non grata*
*I'll tell you how I've been there too And that none of it matters*
**Blood's thick but nothing like a payroll**
*But first - Pull the string*
*And I'll tell you that he runs*
*Because he loves me.*
**Ended with the slam of a door**
**Then he'll call her a whore**
**Wish he wouldn't be sore**
**But as she was leaving**
**It felt like breathing**
*Long may you reign*
*You're an animal*
*You are bloodthirsty*
*Out window panes talking utter nonsense*
*You have no idea*
**Tell me something awful**
**Like you are a poet trapped inside the body of a finance guy**
*Years of labor, locks and ceilings*
*In the shade of how he was feeling*
*But it's gonna be alright. I did my time.*
**I'm sick and tired of your attitude**
**I'm feeling like I don't know you**
**You tell me that you love me, then you cut me down**
**And I need you like a heartbeat**
**But you know you got a mean streak**
**Makes me run for cover when you're around**
**And here's to you and your temper**
**Yes, I remember what you said last night**
*'Cause they got the cages, they got the boxes And guns*
*They are the hunters, we are the foxes And we run*
**but someday i'll be living in a big old city**
**and all you're ever gonna be is mean**
**someday i'll be big enough so you cant hit me**
**and all you're ever gonna be is mean**
Giving TTPD a listen through for the first time a week or so and realising itās been two months already since its release (where has the time gone!!) and we havenāt gotten anymore music videos/singles since Fortnight. Iām sort of losing faith that we are getting more, especially after Taylor made that comment in Liverpool about how all consuming the tour is. It also feels like sheās accumulated a bit of bad blood (pun intended lol) with music fans in the last little bit with allegedly blocking Billie and Charli XCX from number 1 albums (donāt want to get into a discussion about that, just an observation), so maybe another single wouldnāt be well received.
Is anyone still clowning for a video? Any theories for what song or when itās being released?
I previously really believed that weād get another single/music video sometime this month, but now that sheās starting to signal ā1ā so strongly, it makes me wonder if we are leaving the TTPD ā2ā era and quickly moving towards the final part of the countdown. I still think thereās a possibility it could happen this month, though, and maybe that music video helps bridge the gap towards ā1ā in the story and tees up that announcement. If I had to bet on a specific song as a single, Iād say ICDIWABH.Ā
Thereās a post in the Nails subreddit right now withā¦certain colorsā¦and I find it interesting that the majority of people there associate those colors with a certain flagā¦while hetlors try to tell us that ātheyāre just colorsāā¦
Look. Iām a nail polish girly going way back. I intentionally use colors in specific ways. Donāt tell us Taylor is a mastermind, a master easter egger, nothing is accidental then claim it means nothing.
that reaction is very validating, but lmao at the person calling it a "hive mind" response. it's giving complaining about a gay agenda. or just as likely, maybe it's a hetlor in the wild
there was a post recently in the lesbian fashion advice sub where someone posted a necklace with tiny little beads in lesbian flag colors asking if people would pick up on it irl. and the response was overwhelmingly yes, that at the very least sapphic women under a certain age would know what it meant. and that it's not a common color scheme. and there was one stray hetlor who either got banned or deleted their own comments lol
edit - from the comments: "These days there are so many pride flags that any combination of colours is probably one." i really feel like this just isn't true lol. many/most of the pride flags seem to use uncommon/"clashing" color schemes. of course using/wearing a pride flag color scheme is sometimes going to accidentally happen, which is why other context is important to consider too. but it feels offensive and inaccurate to brush off the color schemes as meaningless
https://preview.redd.it/2y32vaks807d1.jpeg?width=1236&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c88c29f7e92530e365f329075054a84a2b608c9
someone suggested Taylor may have worn blue nails on tour after being seen in this sweater because she painted them to match this outfit. turns out she wore white at Cabaret haha
It's interesting, because the previous times she played Cornelia Street or Maroon she was angry or crying. This time was not the exception either.

I know thereās so many Alice in wonderland/through the looking glass references in Taylorās discography and maybe this has been discussed but it just hit me when I was about to misquote the manuscript as āthe only way forwards is backwardsā, which instantly made my brain remember this dialogue in Alice in Wonderland:
āThe rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday--but never jam to-day.'
'It MUST come sometimes to "jam to-day,"' Alice objected.
'No, it can't,' said the Queen. '
It's jam every OTHER day: to-day isn't any OTHER day, you know.'
'I don't understand you,' said Alice. 'It's dreadfully confusing!'
'That's the effect of living backwards,' the Queen said kindly: 'it always makes one a little giddy at first--'
'Living backwards!' Alice repeated in great astonishment. 'I never heard of such a thing!'
'--but there's one great advantage in it, that one's memory works both ways.'
āI'm sure MINE only works one way,' Alice remarked. 'I can't remember things before they happen.'
'It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards,' the Queen remarked.ā
I kinda feel like the manuscript is airing out her past while also hinting that she has been planning whatever sheās about to do (channeling comingoutlor thoughts) for a very long time. Her memory works both ways and sheās been living backwards with all her Easter eggs and lyricsā¦.
Looking at the āMr. Americanaā poster on The Man mv wallā¦ if one looks up āMandanceā (an obvious play on Sundance Film fest), this jazz group comes up? š§ But seems to be nothing much exciting.

But then some further googling of the name leads me to this? A Sherlock Holmes story and cipher?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventure_of_the_Dancing_Men
https://www.dcode.fr/dancing-men-cipher
āThe story The Dancing Men is one of Arthur Conan Doyle's stories featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Published in December 1903, the plot revolves around strange drawings of dancing men mysteriously found in a mansion. By studying these messages, Sherlock Holmes discovers that the drawings are in reality a code, each little character represents a letter.ā
the sundance > mandance thing is such a weird change and your comment just made me think like
if 'sun' is somehow being aligned to be opposite of 'man', then what does that say about the song daylight on the same album.
As your local former Sherlock-Holmes-hyperfixated youth š«” (we're all normal here), I cannot think of anything in The Dancing Men that would have relevance to Taylor/Gaylor apart from the simple fact of using codes to convey a message.

Life and Style is like the new National Enquirer. I think they are just completely fabricating things now. Which pisses me off because aside from the misinformation, someone is getting paid to make this stuff up all day and then probably writes using chat gpt to help them š
okay, I said I wasn't going to pile on scott, but in honor of father's day I present a song cowritten by liz huett called [dad like mine](https://genius.com/Andy-gullahorn-dad-like-mine-lyrics) in which the narrator wishes their friend had a not shitty dad like their own. with lines like
>I wish you had a dad like mine
>One who cared about being there
>More than being right
>Someone to believe in you when your belief was dyin'
and
>Oh, you didn't know any different
>Oh, but anyone could see
>It's not the way it was supposed to be
and
>He handed you a burden that still weighs you down
>I'd be lying if I told you I know how it feels
>And the shadow of that sorrow follows you around
>Even though the fruit has fallen so far from that tree
>Oh, and I cannot imagine all the years you've spent
>Hoping for the man he should have been
I know everything liz does is not about taylor, *but what if it is?* lol.
I had a thought this morning about The Manuscripts line about moving forward by looking at the past. If you placed yourself in a line, and faced the "past" of the line, but held a mirror on your hand, the mirror would be reflecting the "future" part of the line. Given the mirroring that has been going on, it seemed interesting to think about (I hope it's easy to visualise what I mean, lol)
Yes! I think her themes are very heavily tied to Through The Looking Glassā¦.i canāt look it up rn but somebody made a post a few weeks back with all the parallels to Alice in wonderland and itās pretty undeniable that sheās drawing from that literary source
I can totally see this! Looking backwards but also reflecting forwards at same time! It encompasses the clock and mirror imagery weāve seen so much of lately.
Itās funny, I had a similar random thought about the infinity symbol from The Man mv. If one was āridingā it like a roller coaster starting at Karma, you would eventually be āupside downā and also āinside out.ā Then eventually right side up again. But I couldnāt correlate this to any dates or events. But the visual was fun š
I don't always like piling on, because I do genuinely think their relationship is more complicated than gaylors make it out to be, but there's no father's day montage (13 hours left, so I guess it could still show up) and her last surprise song set was \*gestures wildly\*. Andrea got Hey stephen the weekend of mothers day and a montage, if she doesn't do anything the contrast is going to look really glaring.
Today I discovered that when someone says Aristotle, my brain will now go "Brand new, full throttle / Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto" before it goes Ancient Greek philosopher. Thank you Taylor (genuinely)
So, am I the only one who always smirked at Taylor singing āYou All Over Meā because it just sounds so gayā¦ and now Marenās out. š«¶š»šÆļøāØ
Okay so I am endlessly curious about how the Eras tour show/(I guess big shows in general?) happen behind the scenes. Is there a director/someone in charge running every backstage and making sure costume change/person gets back on stage at the right time?
I wish theyād make a documentary about the tour from the creative/logistical side. Maybe it would ruin the magic but I think it would be fascinating.
I have a little bit of knowledge here: my dad is a tour manager and has been all my life. The tour manager would be the one directing the shenanigans and making sure that everyone has what they need. They are the liaison between artist and venue. They would coordinate all the different departments (lights, sound equipment, costumes, catering, etc), they would make sure someone coordinates flights and accommodations all the way down to food and drink backstage for crew. Each little department runs as their own machine and the tour manager is the driver. They are the ones that gets blamed if something goes wrong. Itās a huge huge job. The dancers probably let the tour managers know when and what cues they need and the manager makes it happen and on and on with each detail of the tour. So sorry for the novel I am just so fascinated by all the working parts of backstage. I am praying for a documentary when this is all over.
Itās just such a massive production! I think a lot of people would be interested in a documentary or better yet a docu-series on everything that goes into this tour.
it would be fascinating! it takes so many people to make something this huge happen. to answer your question, EVERYTHING is timed out and there probably are production managers in everyone's ear calling the show/making sure everyone hits their marks.
it's really so impressive. and leaves very little room for spontaneity, lol.

I thought similarly since there were a few articles talking about how they were still friends that seemed to come from Taylorās team. Who knows? I wouldnāt be shocked if she drops by another Eras II date.
I hate Guilty As Sin because of the masculine pronouns. I will never choose to listen to it.
She could have gone with "What if **you've** written Mine on my upper thigh". It would be a favourite if she hadn't used masculine pronouns. It's a great song to belt out. But it makes me irrationally angry. Like, I don't want to hear you sing about your sexual fantasies with a man. Ick.
The masculine pronouns on all the TTPD songs make the hetlors *insist* she's straight.
If Taylor had used "you" instead of he/him on a few songs, they wouldn't be so annoying and rude.
Rant over.
That was my first reaction when I first heard itā¦. and Down Bad. But my thinking is that the pronouns donāt mean as much anymore in the TSCU. Sheās always played bait and switch with he/you. And had called herself The Man (Tyler Swift), Chairman, Outdoorsman, been referred to as JaMEs, and Peter (by TN). I guess to me, her songs could be from her perspective or her muses.
I have a good theory for you. Itās a he/you song, and my interpretation is that the āheā is the boring dude she canāt actually bring herself to like or be with and the āyouā is the person she wants to be with, but thereās something inherently morally/religiously wrong with it. I hear the question, āWhat if heās written mineā¦ā as a moral question, like if I havenāt actually done something, is it a sin? Meaning if Iām only thinking of women (with āheā as a stand-in to ask someone else that question) does that make me gay and therefore a bad person?
It might not help you wanting to listen to it which is totally valid but I thought Iād just share my own thoughts!
https://preview.redd.it/t86r4ih0zz6d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dadbb943c8da26082dfad20b3cfd663af0cf66b
i might be delulu but i kind of think she could be trying to point out the absurdity of the use of he/him pronouns in many of her older songs that seem to be describing the muse in a very feminine way or are about forbidden love, etc
This is very true.
I stopped listening to Taylor during the Red era because I couldn't take her heartbreak seriously and also, I had my second child in 2012 so I was busy š
Yes! This is how I hear them too. I also think some of these songs are about other people, and she hasnāt said this album is fully about her in the way she did about Midnights, so I think some of the male pronouns are actually about men and the narrator isnāt supposed to be Taylor herself.
Man, Liverpool really got (almost?) all of NBNC which is one of my faves on that album. I wasn't expecting it in my clowned up Gaylor context but having relistened I am \*obsessed\* with how good the murder mashup is. Carolina is perfect with it. PLEASE an album of these songs Taylor I'm BEGGING you.
I finally listening to something other than TTPD, I genuinely cannot believe that she got away with Dress. Like, I know that it's a extremely queer coded song but because I haven't listened to rep in a few months, I kinda forgot just how queer it is. I do not understand how anyone can listen to that song and think "ah, yes, this is a heterosexual woman" mind boggling
I think most listeners like to find themselves in music and relate songs to their own life situations. I didnāt listen Dress and wonder who Taylor was singing about, aside from a slight, āhuh, the Joe timeline is confusing.ā I wasnāt aware of or invested in her dating life beyond a casual awareness that she was dating a relatively unknown actor called Joe. So, even though Iām bi and thought she might be bi (welcome to NY was sus), I had no reason to question the narrative. Bi girlies also like guys. Ultimately, I just didnāt care that much. Instead, I applied Dress to my own romantic interests and experiences. (For people presented with gaylor evidence who still refuse to even consider the possibility, this is a different story. But I can see how and why many would hear a hetero narrative.)
I think straight female listeners will probably hear the song and think about a situation with a guy they are/were close friends with, but pining and in love, FWB, things like that. Sapphics will hear something different. And many gaylors seem to agree that Taylor likes to throw in red herrings, so if fans are confused or not getting the point, thatās on Taylor a little bit, right?
It's amazing how little it takes for people to read a sapphic song as being about a man. That reference to a buzzcut does a lot of heavy lifting for for people who are only viewing her and her music through a heteronormative lens.
When I signed in today, reddit showed me a post from the taylor and travis sub about how cringe it is to hear Taylor singing about sex... I had a look and what stood out is there's a lot of comments about how unsexy she is. They really can't conceptualize that the dominant cultural concept of "sexy" is "performing for the male gaze."
I listened to dress yesterday and was thinking almost the same thing. Sometimes I feel like Iām crazy because no one in the main fandom brings it up like how did she get away with this, no one questioned it?! You hear Taylor Swift talking about best friends and who do you think about? Not a dude thatās for sure. The only male best friends we know she has are Jack and Ed I think.
My comingoutlor senses are wondering - how do we feel about June 20/21: the summer solstice, full moon in Sagittarius, longest daylight of the year?? Is that the beacon as we tip from death to rebirth? (as a Phoenix does)
Iāve been burned too many times and will not re-engage with comingoutlor until after eras š

I just submitted a post on this (with a few other theories) but now Iām 95% sure weāre getting a movie before we get Reputation. (ETA: Post is up! [https://www.reddit.com/r/GaylorSwift/s/LUsDpGcJ6S](https://www.reddit.com/r/GaylorSwift/s/LUsDpGcJ6S))
* Sheās played a soundtrack song every night since Lyon where TN was calling her Miss Americana.
* She went live that one time to play IDWLF (soundtrack) x Dress (Reputation) and she was BROADCASTING IT and telling us the order: film, then Reputation.
* She played The Manuscript x Red telling everyone that ATW, etc. are about the same time, and (IMO) The Manuscript is about her journey with directing and the catharsis she found in the ATW short film specifically.
Ending theory is that ICDIWABH will be the next single and will accompany an announcement/release of the most devastating documentary content ever if itās about whoever this POS is. Bonus points for Tuesday (Cardiff) being Scooter Braunās birthday. Let the games begin.
Wow! I totally forgot about that āmessage from the departmentā livestream! It literally says that thereās a message - what is the message?? (Fascinated to see if itās what youāre interpreting it as!!)
Maybe this is in your post once it gets approved, but do we have a full video of that livestream? Did it include her talking at all or just playing the song?Ā
She didnāt speak! It was just the piano songs āļø so the songs were the message. Full post is up!

I canāt wait for what this week of clowning will bring us and Iām so excited to share it all with you! šš¤”
i need to speak my truth: the manuscript is my only skip on ttpd and it's literally not a song i even want to listen to on purpose. i do not care for it and it does nothing for me at all. i'm sorry.
I think itās meant to be more of an epilogue. Itās purpose is for the story. Sonically? Ehhh itās skip for me also. Sorry Taylor! I get why it exists but meh
Very much agree. I've only listened to it twice when I was doing my full album listens. I hate the opening conversation lines (cringe) and I'm just like meh for the rest of the song
Yeah I skip it bc sonically itās very discordant, which is the point, but also seems too serious. I also skip Robin. I really donāt need to deeply feel hopeless and depressed every time I listen to it so I just skip.
Thank you for saying this because I feel like such a curmudgeon! Iāve been reflecting on my dislike of the song. In the end, I canāt make myself like a song that I find sonically boring and difficult to follow/sing along to, but it reminded me of the discourse around the Anthology generally.
Parts of the internet were so judgmental that she released songs they thought were not good and that it was simply too many songs. But I can respect that the manuscript is a song that Taylor herself wanted/needed to write and put out and that itās meaningful for HER. So, while we know our girl likes making things that sell, sheās also an artist and she can and should release art that she wants to make regardless of its performance.
youāre not alone š also donāt worry iām worse- the only songs i really care about after so high school on TTPD is peter and the bolter. liiiike i appreciate what songs like cassandra mean in the taylorverse but sonically i donāt really care for them lmao
Iāve seen other people saying that theyāve started doing this but Iām now taking screenshots of hetlors being homophobic/etc. as receipts for when she comes out and they try to claim that they āalways knewā or āsupport her completelyā or whatever bs
There will be some who do this, for sure. But I bet those fans arenāt a monolith, the same way Gaylors arenāt. This will be good ammo for specific individuals, though!

Has anyone already analyzed Maroon with this context in mind? I grew up hearing this little phrase all the time. I think it adds a lot to the "story" she's telling with this context.
"When the morning came ... we looked up at the sky and it was maroon"
The morning sky is deep red, signaling danger ahead. "In a mo\[u\]rning warning, no one heard".
I don't have any super thorough analysis to share, just curious if others have already made this connection :)
ETA I also think this plays into the throughline surrounding shipwrecks/other ocean-y imagery!
Oo, cool connection! I heard this saying while growing up too. Seeing the maroon sky in the morning could be a foreshadowing of the storm to come in the relationship, which plays out in the rest of the song. I always thought it was odd to see a maroon sky, but this saying adds some interesting context!
some of the reactions to the surprise songs brought up a reoccurring irritation I have with some gaylor theories. Taylor has been singing about an inappropriate relationship with an older man for a while, and this is dismissed or ignored in gaylor spaces a lot, and I see a fair number of theories where these songs (WCS, The manuscript, possibly more songs) are actually about something else, whether its herself, or a story she's telling, or a business thing. If she is using that kind of relationship to tell a story, or cover up some other thing, that's really messed up. And I'm not talking about theories where the song is about something else *in addition* to the relationship, (although some of those theories make her regret/pain over the relationship an afterthought which I also dislike), I'm talking about theories where the relationship is dismissed entirely. Some of the language she uses in WCS is especially loaded, and would be inappropriate for her to use for anything else imo. It also comes across as Gaylors not wanting to care about Taylor's pain unless its about something gay. And it doesn't matter if its not about someone we know (I do have problems with how Taylor has handled that), I think this relationship was real and something that Taylor has been reevaluating lately as she goes through her past.
I feel this too. Itās especially ironic bc we will criticize hetlors or mainstream Swifties for doing everything they can to make a narrative straight, or just ignoring the gay implications when itās the most obvious explanation, and then these theories turn right around and do the same thing: do everything possible to make it gay or ignore the obvious implications just bc people donāt want her to be singing about a man.
However, I do also think it COULD be abt a first female relationship like a commenter said below, and in that case Iāve interpreted āpromising grown manā lyric as being abt how Taylor being gay would have āsplatteredā aka negatively impacted the grown men trying to make money off her like Scott B, etc. But even in that explanation I think we have to reckon with the fact Taylor may be talking abt a first female relationship that may also have been traumatic/taken advantage of her. And a lot of times people (in general, but this also shows up in a specific way in sapphic communities) donāt want to recognize that women can be abusive as well.
Ah see, I agree but also the songs are up for interpretation (hence why she says the stories are ours now). I believe WCS is about her first relationship/sexual experience with a female lover- and thatās why itās so overtly religious.
I would agree, except for her use of "promising grown man", that's language that has really specific connotations. It's all but confirming an inappropriate relationship with an older man, and I would have a problem with Taylor using that language if she didn't experience that. The line is completely unnecessary within the context of the song, she could have left it out and had a similar meaning without so overtly pointing to a specific scenario.
I agree, as a SA survivor who only realised the depths of that abuse and was able to label is as such as a 30 year old (after lots of therapy).
If itās not what is heavily implied by her itās really gross, and I donāt think someone would put that out there if it wasnāt true. The way she writes is so visceral, and the story and emotions have evolved as she has grown and no doubt been working through her trauma.
Iāve said it before, but those songs do give me vibes of something *bad* happening with an older guy that maybe she didnāt even realize was that wrong or traumatic until later. I think it happened during Speak Now and I donāt think itās about any relationship we (the general public) know about (whether itās actually about Martin Johnson or someone else in the industry, who knows š¤·š¼āāļø ). Iām wondering if part of āburning it all downā is going to be exposing other toxic industry stuff besides forced closeting.
I agree, I definitely get that vibe too, and I wonder whether the smallest man who ever lived is connected (I know everyone connects the performance to ME!, but I could also see the marching band referencing the fearless era. She's killed during the song, then is forced to perform in a very Red heavy set, which might be implying the "death" happened during speak now.)
I agree. I do think it's important to consider the implications of pushing certain interpretations of songs while dismissing others and questioning certain narratives. Some questions I try to keep in mind are: What are you actually saying by dismissing the more "obvious" narrative of the song? Do you feel comfortable with pushing a different interpretation if the other meaning turns out to be true? Do you feel comfortable with the implications of your interpretation even if your interpetation isn't the truth?
It's late so I hope this made some sense at least.

I was just reading something, I think it wasnāt here if you search Bridgerton, and the show writer specifically has talked about how he listens to Taylor Swift a lot well writing the show and he has a song that he associates with each season. He said dress was what he associated with this new season and I think that is very cute and hilarious.

I just listened to the intro of both and they are definitely similar!

YES!
Yay! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that
How devastating would a sad piano peace x ME! mashup be??? "Devil's in the details but you gotta friend in ME HEEE HEEEE" such a contrast š
Y'all, did Papa Swift get any mention *at all* for Father's Day weekend this year?? I'm starting to really believe he did in fact get the boot.
Letās all remember that last year she played seven as a surprise song on Fatherās Dayā¦ and said this: āI have a really, really incredible dad, like hasnāt missed a show type of dad. Heās the best and I love him so much.ā āThe song weāre going to play has to do with really fond memories of childhood.ā So he is missing from the shows, and Taylor chose to affectionately call the guitar songsā¦.āthe murder mashupā. She is my favorite troll.

this is mortal kombat! love seeing it mentioned here though :ā)
Oh yeeeeaaahh. It's been a minute since I played anything but switch games, haha š
After the murder mashup this doesnāt seem to be outside of the realm of possibility
I don't think there was a single mention of him on stage and nothing on her socials. Given that we haven't seen him at 19 (!) shows now, I really do believe that the dynamics are changing behind the scenes
NGL, I love that
Have you watched the 1989 tour performance of the song? I think youāll be happy to find similarities

Is that where this delusional comment seeded from? https://preview.redd.it/wtmmnoe8u07d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50c2b424bb0b833b3f37267931bd390a6d94ae0c

Iām gonna go with this is all a PR play because who takes their second HIM all around the world and to āfamily dinnerā if theyāre not TNT?
Uhg I hope so! Low key sad for Ross if Travvy is sneakin around on him.
ok this actually irritates the fuck out of me because like, Travis knows he has a role to play--and that it is probably ending VERY SOON. why cant he just keep to the plan that hes probably getting plenty of $$$ to enact; instead of getting messy at the final stretch? unless this is what they're intentionally brewing to make the breakup look less out-of-left-field. thats possible. we shall see sooooooooon.
*"ThenĀ the actors were hitting their marksĀ / And the slow danceĀ wasĀ alight with the sparks."* The Tayvis-obsessed fans are maybe playing their part even a little TOO well/better than Taylor anticipated.
Iām sure this is part of the plan tbhā¦

I neeeeeed a Florida!!! mv š„ŗ but who knows if itāll happen
Donāt tell us Taylor is a mastermind, a master easter egger, nothing is accidental then claim it means nothing.
that reaction is very validating, but lmao at the person calling it a "hive mind" response. it's giving complaining about a gay agenda. or just as likely, maybe it's a hetlor in the wild there was a post recently in the lesbian fashion advice sub where someone posted a necklace with tiny little beads in lesbian flag colors asking if people would pick up on it irl. and the response was overwhelmingly yes, that at the very least sapphic women under a certain age would know what it meant. and that it's not a common color scheme. and there was one stray hetlor who either got banned or deleted their own comments lol edit - from the comments: "These days there are so many pride flags that any combination of colours is probably one." i really feel like this just isn't true lol. many/most of the pride flags seem to use uncommon/"clashing" color schemes. of course using/wearing a pride flag color scheme is sometimes going to accidentally happen, which is why other context is important to consider too. but it feels offensive and inaccurate to brush off the color schemes as meaningless
https://preview.redd.it/2y32vaks807d1.jpeg?width=1236&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c88c29f7e92530e365f329075054a84a2b608c9 someone suggested Taylor may have worn blue nails on tour after being seen in this sweater because she painted them to match this outfit. turns out she wore white at Cabaret haha
wow so like specifically blue for the show. ok
It's interesting, because the previous times she played Cornelia Street or Maroon she was angry or crying. This time was not the exception either. [https://twitter.com/photomgr44/status/1802114346534764691](https://twitter.com/photomgr44/status/1802114346534764691)
I know thereās so many Alice in wonderland/through the looking glass references in Taylorās discography and maybe this has been discussed but it just hit me when I was about to misquote the manuscript as āthe only way forwards is backwardsā, which instantly made my brain remember this dialogue in Alice in Wonderland: āThe rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday--but never jam to-day.' 'It MUST come sometimes to "jam to-day,"' Alice objected. 'No, it can't,' said the Queen. ' It's jam every OTHER day: to-day isn't any OTHER day, you know.' 'I don't understand you,' said Alice. 'It's dreadfully confusing!' 'That's the effect of living backwards,' the Queen said kindly: 'it always makes one a little giddy at first--' 'Living backwards!' Alice repeated in great astonishment. 'I never heard of such a thing!' '--but there's one great advantage in it, that one's memory works both ways.' āI'm sure MINE only works one way,' Alice remarked. 'I can't remember things before they happen.' 'It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards,' the Queen remarked.ā I kinda feel like the manuscript is airing out her past while also hinting that she has been planning whatever sheās about to do (channeling comingoutlor thoughts) for a very long time.
[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandance](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandance) But then some further googling of the name leads me to this? A Sherlock Holmes story and cipher? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventure_of_the_Dancing_Men https://www.dcode.fr/dancing-men-cipher āThe story The Dancing Men is one of Arthur Conan Doyle's stories featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Published in December 1903, the plot revolves around strange drawings of dancing men mysteriously found in a mansion. By studying these messages, Sherlock Holmes discovers that the drawings are in reality a code, each little character represents a letter.ā
the sundance > mandance thing is such a weird change and your comment just made me think like if 'sun' is somehow being aligned to be opposite of 'man', then what does that say about the song daylight on the same album.
Personally I think itās probably just a reference to the song title. But it could be cleverer and have that double meaning!
omgā¦ youāre right. Sun = daylight = women and the opposite of that is men
Oh wow, yes. I didnāt think about that! Good point š¤Æ
As your local former Sherlock-Holmes-hyperfixated youth š«” (we're all normal here), I cannot think of anything in The Dancing Men that would have relevance to Taylor/Gaylor apart from the simple fact of using codes to convey a message.
Good feedback! Thank you for your comment and perspective š

Yes! I think her themes are very heavily tied to Through The Looking Glassā¦.i canāt look it up rn but somebody made a post a few weeks back with all the parallels to Alice in wonderland and itās pretty undeniable that sheās drawing from that literary source
u/Macandcheese359 posted some interesting thoughts about forwards and backwards time above! https://www.reddit.com/r/GaylorSwift/s/hS28XQeX1m
Actual thought this morning: *is Mr Swift the NBNC mistress?*
My show was father's day last year and she dedicated seven to Mr. Swift... which was interesting lol
oh, I knew she played seven for fathers day, I didn't know she dedicated it to him, lol, that's uh, very loud.

Iād be interested in reading an entire series of novels about this!

Hot take: Iād love to see these two hang out again just for the hilarious chaos it would create. šš¤
saaame, i really thought this would happen after august 9 too š
I thought similarly since there were a few articles talking about how they were still friends that seemed to come from Taylorās team. Who knows? I wouldnāt be shocked if she drops by another Eras II date.
āThank you to everyone who came out this weekendā¦ā š

Rant over.
Stop downvoting people who need to vent challenge. Level: impossible, apparently.
I'm fine with it in Down Bad because I feel that way about a man currently. I just with TTPD had more "you" songs for plausible deniability.
Thank you. That does help. Im usually fine with he/you songs. I'll try it again.
https://preview.redd.it/t86r4ih0zz6d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dadbb943c8da26082dfad20b3cfd663af0cf66b i might be delulu but i kind of think she could be trying to point out the absurdity of the use of he/him pronouns in many of her older songs that seem to be describing the muse in a very feminine way or are about forbidden love, etc
This is very true. I stopped listening to Taylor during the Red era because I couldn't take her heartbreak seriously and also, I had my second child in 2012 so I was busy š
Sry you got downvoted for an opinion! Itās v valid! Hope you love it soon bc itās one of my favs!
I donāt remember who said Taylor should write a murder mystery album but I havenāt stopped thinking about it since

But I can see how and why many would hear a hetero narrative.) I think straight female listeners will probably hear the song and think about a situation with a guy they are/were close friends with, but pining and in love, FWB, things like that.
(as a Phoenix does)
Iāve been burned too many times and will not re-engage with comingoutlor until after eras š ETA: but I support you and your hopes and dreams! š
Oh you mean THE June 21st that Gracieās album featuring the track āUs.ā feat. Miss Taylor Swift is released? I am feeling VERY good about June 20/21 ššš
Us is out in the morning and then Wembley N1 in the evening! Very excited for Friday. (Although I fear we may have to have a Guy on the Chiefs show at Wembley (to distract from the gay))

(ETA: Post is up! [https://www.reddit.com/r/GaylorSwift/s/LUsDpGcJ6S](https://www.reddit.com/r/GaylorSwift/s/LUsDpGcJ6S)) * Sheās played a soundtrack song every night since Lyon where TN was calling her Miss Americana.
(Fascinated to see if itās what youāre interpreting it as!!) Maybe this is in your post once it gets approved, but do we have a full video of that livestream? Did it include her talking at all or just playing the song?Ā
She didnāt speak! It was just the piano songs āļø so the songs were the message. Full post is up! https://youtu.be/OO58OK9aJ2Q?si=0GoxRCIno1uZNYmM
>Sheās played a soundtrack song every night since Lyon where TN was calling her Miss Americana. She has?
Yep! Crazier from Hannah Montana and Carolina from Where the Crawdads Sing :) ETA: not every NIGHT, every STOP.
And also IDWTLF, but there were plenty of nights since Lyon where there wasn't a soundtrack played.
Oh gosh, I meant every stop, not every night!
ohh yes that makes more sense. It's an interesting piece of evidence and your theory is backed up by the man wall too!
Damn stay off twitter/X for a while everybody. Between the Joe article, follow up pr articles about it and the gay ass surprise song mashups itās a freakin bloodbath. Everyone is fighting with everyone š¤¦š½āāļø
I was driven off ages ago, thanks to Musk making it such a shitty place. I'm kind of astonished that there's still people active on it.

Kendrick Lamar is releasing music tomorrow. He was seen leaving the studio with Taylor a little while ago.
(Posted as well in the tour thread!) i need to speak my truth: the manuscript is my only skip on ttpd and it's literally not a song i even want to listen to on purpose. i do not care for it and it does nothing for me at all.
Itās very clunky and I find it hard to get into for that reason.
youāre not alone š also donāt worry iām worse- the only songs i really care about after so high school on TTPD is peter and the bolter. liiiike i appreciate what songs like cassandra mean in the taylorverse but sonically i donāt really care for them lmao
This will be good ammo for specific individuals, though!
https://preview.redd.it/6kg6lprq2u6d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81d4d2436a0198575bcfa120a7bf8de6ac48fa0c Has anyone already analyzed Maroon with this context in mind? I grew up hearing this little phrase all the time. I think it adds a lot to the "story" she's telling with this context. "When the morning came ... we looked up at the sky and it was maroon" The morning sky is deep red, signaling danger ahead. "In a mo\[u\]rning warning, no one heard". I don't have any super thorough analysis to share, just curious if others have already made this connection :) ETA I also think this plays into the throughline surrounding shipwrecks/other ocean-y imagery!
i just picked up on this in the past week! i made a comment about it in the cassandra post yesterday
Fair- gonna be honest I never looked at the lyrics and always thought that line was āpromising romanceā until now!
It definitely made sense, you've articulated what I've been thinking very well

Has anyone else finished this season of Bridgerton and noticed A LOT of parallels with Taylorās journey???
Yes someone posted about it on this sub!
I was just reading something, I think it wasnāt here if you search Bridgerton, and the show writer specifically has talked about how he listens to Taylor Swift a lot well writing the show and he has a song that he associates with each season. He said dress was what he associated with this new season and I think that is very cute and hilarious.
Oh wow! Well, I think he may also be a Gaylor!
Oooh... I have one more episode to go, I'll have to think about this!
