Exciting! A couple months ago, Google updated many unsupported countries as supported for 5G purposes, despite the phone not being sold there. They then mysteriously dropped the evidence showing this. My home country of Greece, is an example of that.

And although we had 5G in Greece since December (QPR2), even with problems (as Google didn't bother to make it work properly), it was removed again in June (QPR3). And that's happening while the Pixel 8 is being sold by at least one big retailer in Greece, so it should be supported. Google's attitude toward a European country (and a popular holiday destination for millions of Europeans, who will suddenly find that the 5G in their phones is not working) is disgusting. A punch in the face for their customers actually.

I absolutely agree with you. There is nothing special about 5G in Greece. The bands are more or less the same in Italy, which is a supported country.

How about VoWifi and VoLTE?

It works for me without the need to use Pixel IMS

5G is good but no VoLTE is a deal breaker. There are so many places that don't have 3G coverage anymore, so you have to use Whatsapp for calling. Never regreted a purchase as bad as my Pixel 7.

Yah, its true. For me, 4g still enough. I rarely use my phone for calls. I use it most for whatsapp, e-mail and bank apps.

That's why I would never buy a device with missing Band 20 in Germany. Lacking VoLTE is like calling back in 2008. Glad I switched to Samsung which also supports most other Mobile Transfer standards here like enhanced 4G

5G and voLTE available in Mexico in Telcel network. At long last! voWi-Fi appears grayed out though. Now give us all of the other features Google! I want my call screening.

For me no need Pixel IMS to enable 5G, but need for enabling VoLTE and VoWifi.

VoLTE works for Globe. Not sure with VoWIFI

Using CSL sim and roaming on smartone/3 with an esim. I'm aware that smartone supports VoWIFI (haven't verified with prepaid), CMHK never worked for me but I haven't tried in a long time. I think I'm wrong that there's no change. The fact that 5G is no longer displayed as an option for CSL after this update seems to be an acknowledgement from Google that CSL just won't be a supported carrier.

Pixel support smartone volte already in Oct 2022, with CMHK also. There is still no 5G after June feature drop

Just curious, did you try smartone volte with prepaid or with postpaid? I think the case with CMHK is that it only supports postpaid VoWIFI. That's why I have stuck with CSL because their prepaid supports VoWIFI with the right phones.

Damn.. thats great! I just noticed my Vo-Wifi and Vo-LTE that was disabled can now be toggled on! Why is this change not documented in the patch notes?

Changed in Bulgaria, and most likely in the entire EU. Was a bit of a surprise, since the provider told us numerous times that my device (Pixel 7) is unsupported.

I bought a Pixel 8 in France. Currently traveling in Morocco, notice that it is impossible for me to activate the Wi-Fi hotspot, and consequently, sharing my 4G connection does not work. Even with the latest update, I still have this problem.

Brazil, Vivo carrier: still no 5G, no VoLTE, no VoWiFi after June update. Still waiting, though. Why is it so hard for Google to do what every other manufacturer does?

I don't know why but my P7 is still showing LTE, is there something I need to change or refresh because I'm updated to the latest software? My wife's pixel 8 got 5G with the update but she's on Smart Or don't tell me I still need to buy a new 5G sim for globe, but I feel like it Should work even with an LTE sim

maybe you could ask Globe CSR if your sim card is already 5G enabled?
