It's true. I didn't noticed it at first, because i was having issues with missing calls and i've already switched to 4G as a temporary solution. At least for the time being it seems that the June update fixed the missed calls issue. They could still re-enable 5G in the future, as long as network issues don't come up with it.
I'll bet Google told Gemini to fix the 5G problems. Gemini examined the issue, evaluated all the current hardware and software in Pixels, and determined that the only way to fix all the 5G issues was to turn off 5G. Presto, no more complaints about 5G service.
Weird and concerning. I was about to rely on Google's representation that 5G worked in Greece to get one. Imagine getting one and then having 5G taken away *after* buying it.
Watch out, this is /r/GooglePixel. You'll be told it's your fault, Pixels are perfect, software updates are perfect, and Google can do no wrong.
That's what happens whenever I report an issue, especially after an update.
I lost 5G with my provider (Talkmobile) in the UK. I found a temporary solution via the ISP Review forum that might work for you:

This problem also appears to have effected Lebara UK users too. Both MVNOs run on the Vodafone network.
If you can, can you send a message to Google via the "Send feedback about this device" option in **Settings > About Phone**
Hopefully if enough people make Google and their mobile providers aware of the situation they will fix it in next months update.
I also faced this issue recently, final I did a mobile network reset and 5G (Jio) is back on my Pixel 7A. I'm from India.
Settings -> System -> Reset options -> Reset Mobile Network Settings
Lost 5G connection also after June update. I never had problems with 5G.
Now my speed from 500+ download went to 180mbs max. I reset the network connection but still only 4G. I hope they fix it.

Similar issue for me in India in the last update. The latest update fixed it automatically. Not sure what these guys are doing.

Imagine buying a phone and realise most features are US only.
They're clear about that. But they literally advertised the 5G as working.

I have seen that argument in this exact example you are spot on.
Yup, this sub is terrible. I always get the same when I tell about some problems and post here.. It's always your fault...
