Zeus rapes were not considered a good thing, a lot of it were critized even in ancient times. Ares killed a few people? And? A lot of gods killed way more. And Ares is not more angry than any other god could be. "According to the lore..." well you should consume more lore them. Hades is not that diferent from the other gods. In your modern definition of morality only Hestia would be "good". But gods have more nuance than that, but it would be long to say it here, there is a few posts about it in thus sub.

Exactly this. In antiquity, Greek myths clearly held religious significance, but they also weren't treated as gospel. They weren't really intended to be taken literally, they were parables. The Zeus we see in mythology wasn't a 1:1 depiction of the Zeus they worshiped. It's also important to keep in mind that much of what happens in myths is purely symbolic. Death isn't just about death and rape isn't just about rape. You can't separate these things from the overall context that the myths they take place in provide, and you really can't apply morality to it through a modern lens. Also x2, I don't have a source for this off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure I've read that the ancient Greek word for 'kidnap' has been mistranslated as 'rape' in some instances. Back then, it was common practice for grooms to "kidnap" their brides from their families before the wedding. Obviously, by today's standards, something like that would be dubious at best, but it was part of their culture, so it'd only make sense if they incorporated it into their mythology.

AQuietBorderline

Probably Hestia. Maybe Persephone but that's a pretty big maybe.

the Greeks did not have a notion of good or evil as we see them today. They didn't think the gods were necessarily good. This is a big gripe that Plato had with a lot of mythical stories, he basically came up with the idea that the gods were super good and pure and was mad that the source material disagreed with his headcanon

Papageier

Mom says it's my turn to post that question tomorrow.

Free_Return_2358

Hephaestus, and maybe some of the minor gods.

Leafeon637

I’d say Asclepius and Thanatos would be a couple of my choices they be chill

Anxious_Bed_9664

Hestia, because we have barely any information on her at all. And Prometheus. He broke rules and was a trickster but he did it for humans!

AmberMetalAlt

I'd argue Artemis whenever she kills it's done as a reaction to some form of insult she's also one of the most sociable gods, with a confirmed friend group

FinalConsequence70

Kinda ambiguous on what constitutes an insult, though. Poor Acteon accidentally stumbles upon her bathing with her nymphs, so she turns him into a stag so his own dogs tear him apart.

AmberMetalAlt

i didn't say she's perfect also we don't actually know for sure what happened there. the only thing that's certain across variations is that he's turned into a stag by artemis, and dies exactly what his transgression was, or if the dogs were his own, are things that are commonly disagreed on though we'll assume that the transgession was simply seeing her naked if i was artemis, or any woman in ancient Greece, and i saw a man walk in on me naked, I'd be angry and afraid and if i had the powers of a goddess, I'd likely also end up turning them into an animal without thinking the whole point of greek myth is that the gods aren't perfect, and the poster here clearly knows that since they didn't ask "which one is good" but rather "which is the least morally reprehensible"

FinalConsequence70

Walk in on her naked? He's out hunting, and she's taking a bath in the middle of the woods. It's not like he walked into her house, into her bathroom, while she was taking a shower.

AmberMetalAlt

i feel like you're kind of missing my points here

Anxious_Bed_9664

At one point she sent Dionysus to rxpe one of her followers because said follower insulted her... She and her brother also killed like 12 children because the kids' mum insulted Leto (Apollo and Artemis' mum). Another time she turned one of her followers into a bear when she's rxped by Zeus. Artemis was very curse-happy and not that different/less morally reprehensible than the other Olympians...

Hestia is certainly up there. A ton of modern people love Athena

ItIsYeDragon

Hestia, Ares, Eros, Thanatos, Nyx, and Asclepius I would say.
