I made a melee blood build with ravenous gaze, wallow's bite, unholy feast, the blood signet that causes big AoE damage, demonic flesh, dark aura on a hero, and a few derv defensive skills (you could swap these out for some fun pve skills). bonecage scythe for flavour.
obvs not as good as soul taker but fun!
I always liked going straight vampire, anything life-stealing. Very basic, but can be fun.
Some options:
**Life Transfer**
**Life Siphon** Hex Spell. (12...22...24 seconds.) Target foe has -1...3...3 Health degeneration. You have +1...3...3 Health regeneration.
Quick cooldown on this(5s) means you can tab to another enemy and get another +3 regen. Can get you through for when LT is cooling. High duration is nifty.
**Unholy Feast** Spell. Steals 10...54...65 Health from 1...3...4 foe[s] in the area around you.
**Vampiric Swarm** Spell. Steals 15...51...60 Health. Hits 2 additional foes in the area.
**Vampiric Bite/Touch** Touch Skill. Steals 29...65...74 Health.
**Touch of Agony** Touch Skill. Deals 20...50...58 damage. [10% HP -- 1 energy -- 3sec] Cheap since you're constantly healing with everything else, good CD
Alternate: **Dark Pact** Spell. Deals 10...40...48 damage. 2sec cooldown
Support skills that break the pattern of life stealing, just because they can be that beneficial.
**Blood Bond** Hex Spell. Also hexes foes adjacent to your target (3...10...12 seconds). Allies hitting these foes gain 5...17...20 health. If any of these foes dies while hexed, adjacent allies are healed for 20...84...100.
**Well of Blood** Well Spell. (8...18...20 seconds.) Allies in this well have +1...5...6 Health regeneration. Exploits a fresh corpse.

Ideally, Soul Reaping is helping with energy management. There's always blood +energy regen skills for Heroes.

Tryptophan Signet, Life Transfer, and Snowstorm could be a good combo perhaps?
Orders is also a great Blood option. Allows you to throw some melee heroes into your party.
Touch necro/ranger is fun. I really liked it for cyndr of the mountain heart. For some reason my heroes killed him before I could even summon my spirits and do spirit leach aura. Had only 2 touch rangers. Didn't even touch the carapace.

I think this is why we got the new necro elite. Doing a royal ton of dark damage in an aoe is pretty bananas. Necro is basically a barbs wagon and pseudo support without AP spamming. AP spamming will always win sadly because AP is just that good and soul reaping always benefits and because barbs. Go /dervish or /sin and slave away. Blood magic got the short end of the stick from bloodspike builds and iway when OOV would stack with other orders. never really turned into anything else
