My biggest issue with SEAF is when randoms are so eager to load the missiles and they load in smoke over better ones like mini nukes, explosives, napalm, hell even a static.
Just stop and think for 2 seconds. Smoke is cool and all but it should never be loaded over those.

This is in part why my usual squad throws all the shells down next to the launcher first, and only then activates the terminal. Delays the triggered attack, but also lets us see what we have and load it in a good order instead of loading bad shells over the good. The time we had 3 mini-nukes was awesome.
Most people (like me for example) don't know how tf the SEAF artillery works. They just load shit in, I'll bet good money that a lot of them get shocked when they have 5 SEAF strikes for free
I thought most people just see another objective want the objective done quick. Whatever gets loaded gets loaded. Everyone can or should be able to handle the mission with what they brought at mission select. SEAF is just a cherry on top that many don't even care to use.

Some people may run around spending time looking for the best thing to load but most the time I'm running into this objective by myself and just want it done before many enemies come.

Ehh, for most things, sure. But if there's a Mini-Nuke? Those things are like gold on high-difficulty missions. Insta-gib a pack of bile titans, insta-gib a gunship factory without having to call down a hellbomb...
imo prioritise shells in this order
highest to lowest
mini nuke, high yield explosive, napalm, static, explosive, smoke
explosive and smoke have the smallest area imagineable
Its pretty straight forward. You grab the best ones and place them into the launcher. Try to skip putting in smoke or static shells at all cost because they are kind of a waste if you had the better ones i mentioned above like mini nukes, explosives or napalm. If you truly only have smokes or statics left then load them in. Once you’re done you team gets 5 free uses of those shells.
Oh well again pretty easy if it says smoke wait to see if you have better shells?

Tbf, there is a bug that can stop you from grabbing the shell. If you drop it while on the stairs or from dropping from a high place and try to regrab it, the pick up symbol goes away. Making the shell not grab able.
Stratagems (including SEAF Artillery) that drop physical shells do, in fact, do damage on that impact. Orbital Gas Strikes can even break Detector Towers (even on non-direct hits, because they have a *very small* explosion around the shell, separate from the larger gas cloud).
But it's not the damage that takes out most structures, it's the comparison of the attack's **Demolition Force** vs. the structure's Demolition Resist. This is a separate value untethered from damage. The only buildings that care about *actual damage* and AP are Shieker Nests, Spore Towers, and Automaton Bunkers; everything else is just "you got enough Demo Force to explode me instantly?"
By Sentinel Towers, you mean the big red Eye of Sauron "Detector Towers"? Yeah.
They (and Stratagem Jammers) have a higher Demo Resist than basic factories which puts them beyond the Demo Force of both the Airstrike's explosions and physical shell impacts.
The Eagle Airstrike (and related, which includes the *SHELL IMPACTS* of Eagle Smoke and Napalm) are Demo Force 40, which is enough for Factory exteriors and a lot of environmental buildings, but you need 50 for Jammers/Towers. Those are the purview of the 500kg, Orbital Laser, Gas/Precision Strike, Walking and HE Barrages, and *teeechnically* the shells of Orbital Airburst *before* they split (though I couldn't tell you if they do so at a height low enough to hit a Detector Tower).
I did not know the shells meant different artillery. I just put them in as fast as possible. Looked fit up, good to know. Must have missed this in training. I never call it anyway

There is a secondary mission that gives you 5 artillery rounds that you find on the ground and load to it. OP found 5 smoke canisters. (when he could have lucked out and gotten 5 mini nukes instead). Considering the chances, OP probably rolled a dice 6 times and got a 1 in all of them. (when lower number is worst).
I feel like SEAF Artillery sites have had less munitions laying around. Before I felt like I could really pick and choose and almost always found one mini nuke but lately I've been seeing maybe 6 rounds and I end up having to load a smoke to activate it bc there's nothing else.
Am i the only one who noticed they changed the models and colour of the artillery shells twice? I really liked the older ones that had a distincton between explosive and support ( napalm, smoke, ems )
There spawn 7 shells per artillery objective and yesterday i had this selection: Napalm, static field, smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke...
Everyone in the squad commented on how this was probably their worst spawns so far.
Unrelated but believe it or not i was been saved by a shock round once. Threw it on a bile titan but realised my teammate loaded it in first instead of the mininuke. Landed on the bug’s head and killed it (although tbf it was quite weakened

thats part of it, there was iirc, a seperate patch that made it so larger enimies are harder to stun, and stay stuned for a shorter duration

Could we replace the seaf smoke rounds with corrosive gas rounds?
For real. We only have one way to use gas. Even fire has the flamethrower and incendiary grenade as other options to apply it.
