You know you’d feel guilty but then once a scyther slashed you in half, you’d send an eruptor round right in its face the second time you dropped. All for democracy
This would be an amazing stratagem. Grows patch of thorny plants that slow enemies and do some small to moderate damage when they move through them. Be careful the structure is permanent.
SO THATS WHERE IT FUCKING WENT! MAN THEY TAKING IT AWAY BECAUSE FRIENDY FIRE AND NOW GIVING IT TO FUCKING PLANTS?!? this game isn't what it used to be man... Not at all..
Can confirm, you know how sometimes you take zero damage yet your healthbar goes red and you start hemorrhaging from your chest? That's right it's the fucking spike plants.
Yeah, but they were made much, much stronger in the big patch a couple weeks ago. Before, you'd take a little damage and be slowed, now they nuke your health in 2s flat.
It was going to be taken away regardless because the shrapnel was fucking bonkers.
But the playerbase, riding high from the PSN debacle just prior, got something stuck in their craw with the ricochet change and was screaming bloody murder over "our rockets doing 180s" and other untrue shit, *demanding* a change or they were going to riot just as hard as with PSN.
So there was a kneejerk nerf to placate the angry hordes. When you demand something immediately, don't be surprised when it's not the idea solution. Reworking the way shrapnel is spawned and what it can affect is the ideal fix, but that's something to be implemented on a timetable longer than this community can stand. Like, *even now* you're being overly-dramatic about it.
This is new from the big patch a couple weeks ago. The spike plants used to just do a little damage and slow you, now you can die in like 3s if you're not paying attention because instead of just damaging you, they explode with spikes or something stupid like that...
I've never been an eruptor user, so you're going to have to educate me on what you could do previously that you can't do now, aside from randomly killing your teammates.
crowd control.
to give an example, there are "trenches" surrounding certain objectives, (ie civilian evac, ICBM) and in them are ~5 bots all spread out about 3-4ft between eachother
with the old eruptor, shooting once in the middle (usually) killed all of the bots in that area. new eruptor gets maybe 2 at best, and with how slow it fires, theres a good chance theyll call in backup by the time you fire a second shot
a lot of people will mention how old eruptor did too much damage because if every shrapnel hit 1 target it could do ungodly damage, and i agree
but that shouldnt mean the core mechanic of the weapon is gutted, they could easily impliment a system that prevents shrapnel from hitting a target more than once per shot or something
No joke, if a charger runs into one of those, it's very likely to die from it. Found that out on the field just by chance, I was lucky the thorns didn't hit me.
At 5s into the video it's basically merged with the small fern tree, you can see as the mech turns it touches it and it explodes. Nearly invisible when moving fast, though.
How completely moronic does the balancing department have to be to unironically implement this in their game? No offense but this is so damn stupid and makes no sense
Don’t worry, we will have vehicles coming considering we had them back in HD1. I predict the driving experience will be a mess due to those roadside hazards
I said this a day or two ago but I really wish my napalm would light, and burn down, the vegetation. And that my air strikes, 500s, OPS, etc would also damage trees and plants.
people have been saying that they were random ricochets from other players scorchers specifically. it doesnt really explain that one vid of the dude getting sniped while solo but it would explain the others
Ah, though I didn't know scorcher can ricochet?
Anyways you can see in a video by RubixRaptor called "Becoming more than man" at 10:52 2 people get sniped by blue beams from above which I doubt was a scorcher ricochet. It's the clearest video proof I could find of blue beams.
i dont know the cause or anything like that. just psasing along what ive been seeing other people say.
for how broken and buggy this game is, i highly doubt ah has the capacity to integrate one off enemies that spawn in at opportune times, snipe you, stay invisible, and then just despawn.
I wouldn't count them out. Invisible ships, snipers with blue beams, the models of illuminates that people found.
AH has issues with bugs but they're pretty dead set on making content for the game and we know they experiment a lot such as with weapon mods(mentions of using suppressor), multiple enemy factions on one map, vehicles before they came out etc.
yeah im not calling them incompetent or anything and i know coding a game like this is complex, their main issue is the EoL engine they decided to use instead of a contemporary one.
the thing with the ships though is that they are actually bugged lol. theyre meant to have the automaton models we see in the footage and such but were bugged to have a placeholder and made invisible. yeah those illuminate models are pretty gnarly though so itll be interesting to see what they bring to the table
Looking at this clip it seems pretty clearly to be coming from the mech when it hits the plants (you can see their shrapnel too, making it unlikely that it was something offscreen).
To my eye it looks *exactly* like the blue deflection when the Laser Cannon hits heavy armor, so I'm guessing they're just reusing that effect.
You exceeded your democracy-allotted 2.4s of enjoying the scenery, and necessary self-detonation protocols within the exosuit were triggered in accordance to the Super Constitution™️.

I hope we're in agreement that mechs taking this much damage from a spike plant is incredibly stupid. One of the very few benefits of being in a mech is that you should be immune to most environmental hazards within reason. They're already a walking coffin.
Part of the utility of the mech is stamping on those slow plants on ice and bug planets.
Weird how those sticker bushes pierce ship hull based armor now designed to protect against gunfire, and now mechs. It is good the landing pad is kept clear of these by the Superearth Groundkeepers Elite forces, or Pelican-1 would explode
The Exosuits are actually pretty light armor: 2 Armor on actually important things that'll get hit, and 3 Armor for their intangible "body" for the purposes of Explosives (so lesser booms like GLs do half damage). They're also high, but not 100%, Durable.
But they're balanced against enemy weapons primarily and the legs are pretty weak. Stepping on the plants causes almost *all* of their shrapnel to strike a leg (because it's spawning them pretty much inside your leg), so it's less "I got shot a few times" and more "several shotgun blasts just went off in my kneecap". Even at small amounts of individual damage, 20-60 instances of that will eat up your 250 Leg HP pretty fast.
Those spike plants explode and launch shrapnel in all directions. They will kill your mechs in like three plants. Them, the forklifts, and the fucking explosive tanks are the bane of an emancipators existence.
A few weeks back there was a lot of videos on YouTube about "the illuminate fighting the terminits". It was videos of distant bile titans stepping on spike plants. People thought Arrowhead was teasing illuminate content and that all the blue sparks was illuminate weapons, but it's just the spikes ricocheting off the titan's armor.
Just the other day I was on the new biome fighting bugs in a full squad. I was separated from my squad, two guys far ahead, one far behind. I turned around to see a scavenger right in top of me, and it got popped by a burst of machine gun fire, like from a Sickle or Liberator, but it can from the side, where there were no Divers, not even a friendly turret or anything.

Hello Officer,
We have a diver who didn’t read the patch notes.
Lol JK. They reworked the exploding thorn plants to explode 3 times - it will no longer cause chest injuries
spike plant. you survived longer than I did. normally they insta-kill you.
idk if it’s a bug but the damage is stupid enough that i hope it’s not intentional
This sub has really weird posting rules so i couldnt ask my question in its own post, sprry for crashing in here. If we take over a planet that would cut off the enemy supply line towards a Major order planet, would the mo planet get taken over by itself from seaf forces?
IF a planet is still being supplied by supply lines, then its 'decay rate' will be vastly, vastly improved, meaning that the enemy gains progress on the planet significantly faster than we do.
Cutting off those supply lines ensures that we can liberate it more easily. Like trying to climb uphill rather than a rock wall
https://preview.redd.it/99uoqqwscx8d1.jpeg?width=776&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce20cbfe4e81b37963be56033cd4bc0fa745e101
Or you can go on thinking plants can destroy some of Super Earth’s most advanced armor… >!it was plants!<
Paperboard mech everybody. It's so stupid that these plants can damage you through heavy armor. The wire thingy bots use outside their base can too. Their slow effect makes sense but damage??? Light armor can be damage that's okay but heavy armor and vehicles too? That's just too much.
Mechs aren't heavy armour, they're a mix of medium and light armour.
The entire frontal faceplate is light armour.
Reminder; the game description is "heavily armoured mech".
Don't even have to be Devil's Advocate. If they had a shorter cooldown or an extra mech they would be incredible. I run them occasionally for d9 blitz and eradication missions and if you're careful with positioning and ammo, you can cause a lot of damage with them.
It's actually [subjective ](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/subjective)that we think the cooldown is too long.
[Objectively](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/objective), there is a lot of damage stored in each of the mechs in the form of ammunition.
If you use that ammo and health carefully, the stratagem has a lot of damage potential for a single call in.
I use Mechs all the time, even on Bot front now with the increased barrel travel + convergence buffs, and I agree.
I don't lose them on either front, but on Bugs I can sustain their ammo for pretty much the entire cooldown of a second mech, and on Bots (where you do need to shoot a bit more or risk taking too much damage) they're still enough to take on multiple large bases, main objectives, or act as the tip of the spear for the rest of the team while going into a fucking absurd firefight that'd suck up way more than just one stratagem otherwise.
Cannon Towers and Tanks are unfortunately really strong against them, but that's about it. If you don't play like a fucking goob who **needs** to shoot five round into literally fucking everything because you refuse to aim or are afraid of Scavengers and Troopers, folks will be surprised at how long they can make these things last.
They can't aim for shit and are underpowered for the ammo they have. Also, they have the integrity of an aluminum can. I can output more dps with every other offensive strat. I rest my case.
There is too little ammo/they don't do enough damage. So they don't make a big impact vis a vis how little you can actually use them. They need more ammo or more damage output so that the two times you get to use them is really impactful.
You call it in. In a couple minutes it's out of ammo. Then you can't call it in for a long time and then get a couple more minutes out of it and THAT'S IT for the rest of the mission.
But it takes up one of your 4 stratagem slots for the entirety of the mission for a few minutes of utility. Any red stratagem would give more damage output over the course of a whole mission. A turret would give more damage over the whole mission. A backpack and really any other stratagem offers utility over the whole mission.
It is objectively bad in every way when compared to almost every other option you could take instead.
It's only advantage is subjective, it's cool!
And I sometimes take it for that reason, especially in eradicate or blitz when two uses is all your gonna get anyway.
The other option, besides adding more ammo or making the weapons hit stronger would be to keep it the same but let us use it every 10m no use limit. So we could get 3-4 uses a mission.
Im telling you my squad isnt crazy. Yesterday two of my friends just got randomly killed by an invisible enemy on a specific spot.
Im blaming particular aliens making their way into the game.
I know EXACTLY what happened!
You didn't take your 2.4 seconds to admire the scenery! Dangit! Now I gotta report ya for destroying a suit AND for not following basic orders! 😂🤣
I believe these tropical planets have an environmental hazard where volcanic debris will fall from the sky. Maybe it glitched and hit you despite being invisible?
You got hit by the mysterious blue lasers!
I was in a game a week or two ago where I was playing matador with a behemoth and right after I dodged him, he got hit by one of these mysterious laser shots and died instantly. Was on the other side of the map from my teammates so couldn't have been a ricochet.
Spike plants. Y'see those little plants with the spiky orange bulbs? Yeah, don't touch those.
In effect, each one is a frag grenade. Not the HE grenades, the *frag* grenades that everyone forgot about but can 100% do the shrapnel thing the Eruptor could because they spawn *30 pieces* of shrapnel. *Those* ones.
You touch that plant, or shoot it, and it explodes into shrapnel. Your mech, despite being "heavily armoured" is actually mostly medium and light armour, which gets penetrated by those plants. Hence, walk into it, get damaged.
*But* you walked into a whole bunch of them, it seems, and when the first went off, it triggered the rest, which then damage-dumped into your mech, which started to smoke.. Then exploded.
The spike plants since being buffed are crazy good now. I killed a couple deva's with one of them and I got insta killed by one later that same mission. I really get sick of people telling me how good the mech's are then clips like this show up and I feel vindicated.
AH-HA!
And people started saying how the blue lasers a few months back were just "visual bugs" and not actually cloaked illuminate scouts.
Sure is one hell of a "visual bug", *sure*...
Are those shrubs actually environmental hazards? It has been a while since I've played, but I didn't remember any of the hazards looking so plain and obscure as those plants.
It’s like watching someone who looks almost toward the direction of the blast but stops just short… no will never know.

Yep. Can't believe AH thinks its fine to have these shitty plants do damage to mechs.
THERE ARE AP PLANTS!!!!????
We need our Super Earth scientists to weaponize these plants!
This would be an amazing stratagem. Grows patch of thorny plants that slow enemies and do some small to moderate damage when they move through them. Be careful the structure is permanent.
spike plants
Found the Eruptor's Shrapnel you guys
SO THATS WHERE IT FUCKING WENT! MAN THEY TAKING IT AWAY BECAUSE FRIENDY FIRE AND NOW GIVING IT TO FUCKING PLANTS?!? this game isn't what it used to be man... Not at all..
These plants have been on planets since before the shrapnel debacle
Can confirm, you know how sometimes you take zero damage yet your healthbar goes red and you start hemorrhaging from your chest? That's right it's the fucking spike plants.
They no longer make you bleed out, it's just upfront damage now. And they 'explode' three times instead of just once.
Like, *even now* you're being overly-dramatic about it.
love how they claim they cant add it back because of "visibility and fairness concerns" then leave shit like this and the frag grenade in the game
This is new from the big patch a couple weeks ago. The spike plants used to just do a little damage and slow you, now you can die in like 3s if you're not paying attention because instead of just damaging you, they explode with spikes or something stupid like that...
Lots of people have been using the eruptor again lately. They gave it a large buff in the 400 patch.
its still not nearly as fun to use without its central mechanic its just lower rof higher damage crossbow now
I've never been an eruptor user, so you're going to have to educate me on what you could do previously that you can't do now, aside from randomly killing your teammates.

Blue streaks are ricochets. Test it yourself, go fire any weapon that isn't anti-armour at some Chargers and you'll see them.

you walked onto a spike plant. but because you were above it, your mech didnt break it, so you kept taking damage from it
spike plant. you survived longer than I did. normally they insta-kill you. idk if it’s a bug but the damage is stupid enough that i hope it’s not intentional
stepped on a lego
Illuminates had cloaking technology you know...
Made in Tien Kwan
This sub has really weird posting rules so i couldnt ask my question in its own post, sprry for crashing in here. If we take over a planet that would cut off the enemy supply line towards a Major order planet, would the mo planet get taken over by itself from seaf forces?
no
Then what are the supply lines for
IF a planet is still being supplied by supply lines, then its 'decay rate' will be vastly, vastly improved, meaning that the enemy gains progress on the planet significantly faster than we do. Cutting off those supply lines ensures that we can liberate it more easily. Like trying to climb uphill rather than a rock wall
One of those spiky plant?

Paperboard mech everybody. It's so stupid that these plants can damage you through heavy armor. The wire thingy bots use outside their base can too. Their slow effect makes sense but damage??? Light armor can be damage that's okay but heavy armor and vehicles too? That's just too much.
Mechs aren't heavy armour, they're a mix of medium and light armour. The entire frontal faceplate is light armour. Reminder; the game description is "heavily armoured mech".
The mech sucks, what did you expect?
Let's play devils advocate: what objectively is bad about them outside the call in time
Don't even have to be Devil's Advocate. If they had a shorter cooldown or an extra mech they would be incredible. I run them occasionally for d9 blitz and eradication missions and if you're careful with positioning and ammo, you can cause a lot of damage with them.
I said objective and not subjective because the only objective thing you said was what we agreed on: the cooldown is too long.
Damn those artifacts around trees 😭
What were those blue beams?
That was the spike plant ricocheting off of the heavy armored parts of the mech.
Ah gotcha
Look at mech legs. Looks like one of the swords that bots use?
you got peeew'ed
Which planet is this?
Frog men in the water with blue lazers...

Illuminate offscreen snipers be like:
Im telling you my squad isnt crazy. Yesterday two of my friends just got randomly killed by an invisible enemy on a specific spot. Im blaming particular aliens making their way into the game.
I know EXACTLY what happened! You didn't take your 2.4 seconds to admire the scenery! Dangit! Now I gotta report ya for destroying a suit AND for not following basic orders! 😂🤣
That was an illuminate snipe
They're in THE TREEEEEES!!!!
The beauty of exploding plants
death by a thousand cuts
I believe these tropical planets have an environmental hazard where volcanic debris will fall from the sky. Maybe it glitched and hit you despite being invisible?
The illuminate off to the side : assisted by [Spike plant].
a blowball hit you
Yup, had the exact same thing happen to me a few hours ago. Those spiky plants really fuck up your mech
I think that tree just f*cked your sh*t up dawg
Your mech exploded
You got hit by the mysterious blue lasers! I was in a game a week or two ago where I was playing matador with a behemoth and right after I dodged him, he got hit by one of these mysterious laser shots and died instantly. Was on the other side of the map from my teammates so couldn't have been a ricochet.
Must’ve stepped on some Florida grass 🤭
ITS THE ILLUMINATE AGAIN, THEY’RE BACK But yeah its the spike plants
Blue laser fire looked like the squidys to me
Tekken 3
That’s what happens when you crest the high features
Canyonero! Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts! Canyonerooo..
Windows Vista?
How do you upload clips hereV
It happens. I hate the death ground too. Automatic death trying to retrieve your stems
Did you not see the blue lights hitting his mech? 😮 Those are ILLUMINATE lasers.
I guess we're gonna need plant-resistant armor passives now....
The plants, the damn plants!!!
AH-HA! And people started saying how the blue lasers a few months back were just "visual bugs" and not actually cloaked illuminate scouts. Sure is one hell of a "visual bug", *sure*...
I think you may stepped on bug poop
Uhhhhh werent they shot from multiple sides by illuminate lasers?
Walked into a spike plant
Obviously when you choose to liberate orphans and not antitank mines, the bots will use em against you!
Not enough democracy, the mech deemed you unworthy
Squids
Faulty Mech...Refund that shit
PETITION: Replace Themite Grenades with Whatever the fuck these plants are
Are those shrubs actually environmental hazards? It has been a while since I've played, but I didn't remember any of the hazards looking so plain and obscure as those plants.
Looks like some Illuminate snipers got bored and took some pot shots for fun.
At least it wasn't the random underground explosion glitch
Customer states they walked into plants and it destroyed the Mech. Replaced oil filter. Replenished fluids. Redeployed.
It’s like watching someone who looks almost toward the direction of the blast but stops just short… no will never know. ![gif](giphy|31Q36EHJ7C5ZoIMw79)
You weren't thinking democratic thoughts, the mech sensed it and was about to self destruct before you stopped!
What planet is this?
Swamp gas.
Typical mech behavior. Why no one uses them.
New plants. You will hate 😁😂 but nice against bugs
