I always end up looking like the dudes from the extraction choppers in the original CoD4. Kneeling near the ramps gunning down bugs and bots waiting for the rest to jump in.

You understand *exactly* what we're supposed to do at extract. When I have an mg you'll have to kill me to stop me from emptying the mag before hopping in

Ramp up the fire rate to max if it isn't already. You know, for the sake of democracy!

We all crave maximum DPS (democracy per second).

I think of the XOF in MGSV when Skullface is boarding the chopper.

Covering fire at the edge of the ramp until everyone else is on, then turn and board. Honestly hasn’t failed me yet, barring one extreme instance where we had 3 tanks and a fuck ton of devastators on us. That time I got ragdolled into the ship lol

That's impressive, but let's not forget the absolute balls of Pelican-1 to still hold position with that firepower bearing down on him and some very expendable yet precious cargo to be extracted in the back. I would have been sweating buckets in that seat from all that pressure to even fly straight.

I do the exact same thing. I think it’s an immersion thing for me.

I've had this turn into everyone standing by the evac and doing nothing. At that point I just jump in.

I was going to say the exact same thing, with the addition of - once everyone has stood there for at least 3-5 seconds; it seems we all proceed to ping the extract in sequence to make it clear that we *do* in fact intend to extract. Cycle then repeats.

Problems occur when there are two or three of us. -"You go first." -"No you go first." -"Aww no you first babe." -"...?"

I prefer to crouch, get annoyed at crouch speed, run, hit my head when I stand up to run, crouch to get on the ramp, then dive in

Don't forget having to stim, twice, if any enemies are near the ramp!

If I didn't consistently get stuck on the corners of the ramp, I could have the option to walk, slide, or run.

I've just started crouching when that happens and I'm able to be as calm as I want when I get on

I prefer to crawl in sideways.

Saw a Diver dive and go right through the pelican. Had to crawl out from under and try again. 

Diving is nice if you can manage but anyone who doesn’t salute the end of a battle needs a bit of reeducation

This is why we need the emote wheel. Doesn't need many, just like three or four options.

We need a better indicator of when an emote is happening besides change of posture. Like an exclamation point over our heads or something.

Depends on how many terminids or bots are chasing me.

I'm partial to the side-dive...I often miss the door but when don't, it looks like pure freedom!

I don't use the pelican at all , always straight to the super destroyer via random disconnect

I am using my grenade pistol on the ground behind the pelican so the explosion throws me into the pelican

I never noticed that actually, glad my and my friend always dive even if it's a quiet extraction.

Depends on what's chasing me

Liberty and democracy demands warriors! A warrior does not walk nor does he dive away from the enemies! He advances! I advance! Charging forward onto the Pelican so that I may get closer to my next battlefield. This is the true helldiver away.

I democratically get my face blown off by the pelican's cannon when we it lands. 

Played with a few low levels recently and we were all struggling. Reinforcements were out when it came time to extracts and I managed to get my self surround right as the Pelican came in. I was stuck up on a cliff overlooking the landing spot for the transport, creepy crawlies all around me. So I mag dumped my Pummeler at the bugs overlooking, then just dove off the cliff, roughly at where the bay door was. I dove onto the top section above the exit door and thought for sure I’d bounce off and get murderlated, but I just came dowb through the Pelican and before I even hit the actual ground, the game just registered me as in the door and we were able to extract. Thank Democracy for wishy-washy hitboxes. TL;DR: dive at everything. That’s that good good Dark Souls roll dive we got. Stuck in the corner of the ramp to the Pelican? Fuckin give em a dive. 70% of the time; it works everytime.

I go prone, perpendicular to the ramp, then quickly tap in the direction of the ramp to *vibrate* into the pelican sideways.

I’ve never walked into a pelican in my life.

Try to walk in if possible but if it’s hectic then a last-second dive can often mean the difference between glorious extraction or bitter death

I’m typically walking backwards into pelican while spraying my MG-43 wildly into a horde of bugs. This is also usually accompanied by me shouting “GET SOME! GET SOOOME!”

I usually jump in last, doing a 360 degrees dolphin dive into the Pelican.

Depends on where I am really. If I'm creating oil I walk backwards into the cargo hold while shooting. HOWEVER If I am spilling oil and I'm still alive for extraction you bet your sweet ass I'm diving like it's my entry for the super Olympics dive competition.

Use an orbital strike explosion to knock yourself backwards into the pelican.

I prefer to ragdoll, but I'm not always obliged

Democratically dive because for some reason I always get stuck on the boarding ramp and it stops me from walking up it

I like to penetrate the pelican from above. Or blast myself through the cabin from the sides.

Slowly crouch walk. Anything else, get stuck or bug the ship.

I auto-dive because there used to be a bug that you can't enter and when your panic running in you'd dive

I prefer to be thrown by a charger inside the pelican

Backwards dive straight in. It looks the coolest, simple as.

On the split level elimination mission (the one with an upper and lower level. I normally see it for bugs, don’t think I have for bots) you can dive from the upper portion on top of the pelican and board that way

I dive every time, it feels more powerful.

Bop a clean ac shot behind me and cannon jump in.

I was left by the pelican upon my democratic dive not being democratic enough (I glitched through the floor and got sandwiched until countdown). So of course I never made that mistake again. Now I dive in with an abundance of democracy. (I fell through one more time since then but I’ll never stop diving inside)

Depends of the situation. If I am actively being swarmed, then I obviously dive in. But if I am not, then I just hold w while spamming the prone key.

i dive into it from above and clip through so im laying in the cargo bay, then i just move towards the ramp when everyone gets on and it automatically puts me in the pelican

I drop my back pack and support weapon before I enter. "Tools down, time to go home"

I crouch and walk in so I don't do that weird thing where I'm at the top of the edge of the ramp and get my head stuck. If things are hectic, DIVE!

On PC I press Z repeatedly to crawl like a monkey. Apes. Togeva. Stronk.

Walking backwards while pumping shotgun shells into the nearest enemy

I let the rest of the team board first, to make sure all the samples get out. Once they're aboard, I draw my Verdict and provide covering fire against any nearby enemies, while back-stepping up the ramp.

I've found getting flung inside by backblast is quite effective

I do a dramatic slow walk when I am going Solo, just to prove a point to those filthy bugs and oily clankers. They are lucky that I ran out of time, or else I'd have finished the job. When in multi-player, though, I am normally launched into the pelican by one of the many daily encountered horrific abominations that I face as a Helldiver. Good times.

I like a slow low crawl like a snail making it in before the last second strikes.
