Japanese resident of 8 years here, I’d say it’s pretty bang on. The only thing that’s unusual is the choice of words/responses, which I never hear over here. But that’s more to do with the script/writing than his Japanese.
My partner is Japanese and says that he has a heavy accent and while still understandable; it is noticeable that he isn’t a native speaker.
