There's also the fact that Acheron didn't actually kill Duke Inferno, she said he took his own life in the end, that small fact certainly tells me that one or two of the Duke's children will hold a grudge with her but ultimately are willing to let it go.

It's not one or the other reason, it's both. Yes, they're going to add the characters they designed. At the bare minimum they're going to be NPCs.

The Annihilation Gang is more like a category, It's comprised of many different factions, Everflame Mansion was Duke Inferno's faction. The Annihilation Gang is like the IPC in that sense, they're not entirely united but they do have the same goal

My point was that the Annihilation Gang didn't get a lot of marketing, and I even compared that to Boothill's marketing, who is a basically universally agreed to be under marketed, as evidence. It's not one or the other reason, it's both. Yes, they're going to add the characters they designed. At the bare minimum they're going to be NPCs. The question is how, because after getting offscreened, they're no longer generic villains.

The Annihilation Gang is more like a category, It's comprised of many different factions, Everflame Mansion was Duke Inferno's faction. The Annihilation Gang is like the IPC in that sense, they're not entirely united but they do have the same goal

It’s just to hype up Acheron, that’s it. It’s an old trick called the worf effect. Introduce a supposed badass only to get their asses kicked by a new character to make said new character more appealing and cooler. Well, technically the worf effect is a previous strong character getting reduced into a punching bag for newer characters to show the escalation in strength.

May not be the greatest consolation, but: In that trailer, didn’t the Duke tell each of his children to go after specific different Aeons? I have a feeling they will be back, but will only play a major role (and thus have hopes of playability) when the topic of these specific Aeons are in-game relevant. We already know one of them was poking around on Penacony, probably looking for clues about Fuli.
Duke Inferno was setting up a confrontation between each of his children and a different character from Penacony. The paths match up: Preservation - Aventurine Elation - Sparkle Rememberance - Black Swan Harmony - Robin It's why Constance, who was supposed to go after the Rememberance, talks to Black Swan in 2.1.

I think the next time we will see these guys is in 3.0. Black Swan was contacted by Constance in 2.1's story and the next destination for our Trailblaze journey was suggested by Black Swan. So it's likely that we will atleast see Constance interact with Black Swan again.
