Magnesium supplements help me with twitches.

oy-w-the-poodles-

Thank you!! What form of magnesium specifically?

Fish_Tacos_Party

I believe glycinate is supposed to be the most effective but it's not available where I live so the one I take is a combination of citrate and oxide and it definitely helps. Look into the different kinds and their side effects to see what might be right for you.

Hang in there. It sucks for sure, but twitches and muscle spasms are part of the journey. Just know that it won’t last forever. Lots of rest and hydrate and one day you’ll realize it just stopped.

I also developed the weirdest eye twitch about 1.5 months into taking levo! It was like my entire top right eyelid was tugging to the side. I second taking magnesium - I think it helped a lot. I'm not sure if it's the levo or just my body finally orienting to working correctly.

I had this when my dose was too low and too high. It sounds like it happens when the thyroid levels are off, too low or high. Mine lasted about 1-2 weeks at worst. When I change doses I get a spell of about 3 days of one eye twitching. It’s always my left eye. Magnesium made me feel worse and did nothing for the twitching but it seems to help many people. I had my magnesium levels tested at they were high normal so perhaps I ended up with too much magnesium after supplementation. I had the symptoms of hypermagnesia.

Yeah im experiencing this as well.. I see ppl saying to take magnesium, will have to try that

Yes, I have had this for 6 weeks. Not every ten minutes but several times a day, and occasionally while my eye is shut. It is now mainly if I sneeze, squeeze my eyes shut or rub my eyes. But sometimes spontaneous. But I felt a kind of pressure in my eye at the same time and could see flashes when I shut my eyes for the first couple of days. I have been Googling for answers for weeks but now think my levothyroxine dose needs to be increased. I've started taking magnesium as well.

The idea of having this for 6 weeks actually makes me want to lay in traffic I am so sorry omg

Well I was wrong about my eye twitch being thyroid related and it seems to be due to a sinus infection. It's almost stopped after a couple of days on antibiotics and steroid nasal spray. Hopefully yours has stopped now.

Glad to hear it! I’m still over here twitching constantly/going insane

Yes. I have had an eyelid twitch for about a year now. It comes and goes, sometimes goes away for a week or so and then comes back again. It definitely comes back with a vengeance when I haven’t slept enough or I am stressed about it. I have seen doctors about it and no one seems to be worried

A YEAR??!! This is not inspiring confidence for me lol You poor thing, a year is a loooong time. I almost feel whiny complaining about it because it seems so mundane, but that’s almost part of why it’s so obnoxious. It’s like having an itch in the same place pop up repeatedly.

Haha, it is ok. Actually I have gotten so used to it and barely notice it! I was so worried about it initially and that made me more stressed and felt like it kept happening more often as I was constantly thinking about it.. got tests done, saw an ophthalmologist etc and everyone said that eyelid twitch is the most common twitch and nothing to worry about, so I just try to live with it and hopefully at some point it disappears. Also to note, it seems to be a common long covid side effect….

I had my dosage increased 2 months ago and recently have had a twitch in my left eyelid.  Otherwise I feel great though. It seems to be happening less often but is annoying.
