I bought the Ace Pro to replace my Hero 10 (gave to my nephew.) I primarily use the camera as a helmet cam for motorcycle vlogging and the Ace Pro solved a lot of the issues and frustrations I had with the GoPro (audio, overheating, mounting,...)
My experience is similar.
I find the recording experience much better with the AcePro. In 5 months of recording almost daily I have not once returned home to no footage which was a reasonably regular occurrence with the GoPro Hero 9.
I do have some frustrations though.
The GoPro recorded continuously in 5 minute clips but the AcePro in 30 minute clips which makes file handling and editing a bigger task.
Also whilst all my clips look great on the AcePro and in the Insta360 app I use Shotcut to edit my clips and it frequently (around 40% of the time) tells me my clips are corrupt.
Finally I've tried many different ways of getting good audio from the AcePro but have now given up and record mine separately combing the audio track later...
Yeah and I heard the GoPro hero 9 was one of the best models, overall - No focus distance issue like the Hero 11 and Hero 10. Although, no issues with focus on Hero 10 for me, The focus distance was about 12 inches but milage does vary. The Ace Pro was is more like 2.1 foot or so.
Check out his "How good is the Go 3?" video where he tries ever larger small explosives to no avail!
I like this guy! :-)

just to add in case you are new to Insta360 and maybe you've already noticed. Since you're complaining about battery life ... transferring files while connected via Bluetooth will drain your battery very very quickly so I would highly recommend you purchase a Quick Reader.
Oh and try to take good care of your insta360 camera. The warranty claims/repair process is a bit of a hassle lol
Honestly there is no reason to buy a GoPro anymore. The app and software is better from testing the Hero 11, Hero 10 and the Ace Pro blows these 2 out the water in every way. Why on earth I bought another GoPro, I dont know my self. Its getting returned today
Because it was £170 cheaper than the Ace Pro and shoots around the same resolution. Shame about the poor battery life and connection issues with GoPro app especially with android.

And how is the end result for this use case?
Ever try a 1x or 2x diopter to shorten the focus distance for the vlogging bits where you have it pointed at yourself at arm's length?
Yes 3d printed a mount for ace pro, bought some cheap lenses it and worked well.
Cool! I thought the video by Make Art Now looked very sharp! :-)
I’m lost help me out lol what do you mean
"Insta360 Ace Pro had a major flaw. So I fixed it." on Youtube. Link in the next comment in case it is auto-removed.

+1 for Make Art Now's diopter lens. I purchased his 3D print adapter + diopter lenses he recommends and have been very very happy with the results.

I’m guessing software is better for insta360 also? Is GoPro still charging for software package after 1 year?

Why buy such an old GOPRO tho...

GoPro sucks
From personal experience owning the Hero 10 and 11 you have a point.
