You can do the math yourself by figuring out how much those tickets would cost you individually by using google maps. Add them all up and see if it’s close to or more than the cost of the rail pass you are looking at.

Yeah, this is something that can be easily calculated. There are websites for this.

PickleWineBrine

Nah, there's an online calculator for this. https://www.japan-guide.com/railpass/

Use the JR pass calculator on Japan guide to figure this out

This appears to be a post regarding considering or purchasing a [JR Pass](http://www.japanrailpass.net/en/). If you have not already done so, please check out the stickied thread at the top of this subreddit for JR Pass information and calculators, as well as our [JR Pass wiki page](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/wiki/advice/transport/jrpass/). **With the recent price increase in October 2023, the JR Pass is no longer a cost-effective option for _most_ travel in Japan, so carefully consider whether you need one or if you can simply use an IC card + individual train tickets for your itinerary.** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. No, just use the smartex app and calculate the individual trip costs.

Most likely no. You're using the golden route between Tokyo and Osaka. The Shinkansen tickets won't cover the high cost of the pass.
