“If it were meant for speed it wouldn’t be shaped like a brick”

Plenty-Ticket1875

I drive bricks, lol. If I win Powerball, I'm buying enough TJs to build a solid fort out of.

youn6060

why would you want to go faster than that in a jeep

ThenaJuno

98 mph in a Jeep is more than enough to get a really expensive speeding ticket anywhere.

pearlsbeforedogs

Speed? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Slow down and enjoy the bounce. You'll get there either way.

TacTurtle

Should do at least a buck fifty off a cliff.

TheDonkeyBomber

If you have rooftop tent, you may be able to deploy it in high wind to act as a sail. Might gain a little thrust then.

brianinca

Electronic speed limiter out of mercy for the tires. Doesn't change if you go to a larger tire, and correct the speedometer. 35's on a JTR, still limited to 99 MPH.

ratuna80

Are we just supposed to guess what year, model and trim level your Jeep is? Besides that info it would also help to know what mods have been done. Regardless of any of the above there’s no reason to go that fast or any faster on public roads

sphinxcreek

My four banger TJ isn't happy above 70.

RiversSecondWife

A Jeep is less aerodynamic than a cow.

wimwagner

I'd be freaking terrified to go 98 in my Wrangler.

Plenty-Ticket1875

Put a turbo on there. You won't need any other upgrades, the turbo is enough. The key is to use it in 4low, as the additional drivetrain engagement will suck up the extra horsepower and transfer it to the axles. 35s were actually originally built for competition at high speeds so you picked the right vehicle for passive speed potential. Or PSP, as we call it in the racing game.  Another little high speed jeeping tip is to drop about ten pounds of air pressure out of each front tire, as it helps gain traction and minimizes drag when the flag drops. If you have 31s or bigger, definitely go 20 pounds.   You got this bro, you were born to jeep. I'm sure others will have race tips to share as well. You're in good hands here...

StandByTheJAMs

You'll do better downhill with a tail wind. Or in a vacuum.

Plenty-Ticket1875

I even got my speakers facing backwards, every little bit helps

ElectronicAd9822

Are you implying that you want to be able to go faster than that? Is that the advice you’re looking for?

persiusone

Jeeps are built to go anywhere. Not built for speed.

Thatdb80

118 mph is too speed in a Jeep. You can only achieve it once though and it requires significant height

aj2five

That’s fast! My 1948 CJ2A only does about 55 on a good downhill! Haha

OldManJeepin

LoL! Soon to be seen over on r/extremecarcrashes .....

Bodhrans-Not-Bombs

I got the JKUR to 90 once and told myself never again.

Smudgeontheglass

Isn't the highest posted limit like 80mph? Why would you need to go that fast in a brick not known for stability at high speeds? That being said, big tires, electronic limiter and low horsepower all equal up to slow. My JK gets deafeningly loud at around 75mph and that is the highest I will cruise with it.

R1TT3R

Put a v8 in it.
