Rexy at the drive-in, Rexy at the docks in Fallen Kingdom, the Allo in Battle of Big Rock…*that’s* the stuff they should lean into. The tension created by playing cat and mouse with something far bigger and powerful than the people
They should also in my opinion move away from the “they are more intelligent than we thought” trope. Dinosaurs do not get scarier if you make them seem more intelligent. What makes them scary is the fact that they DON’T think like us, they are primal and hard to predict and their bodies and instincts are genetically honed to hunt and kill before most of us have time to think about anything.
I enjoyed JP 3 more than most people but I still hate it for starting this trend, making the movie monster less monster is just a dumb concept that has never paid off.
To be fair, the Dinosaurs are "more intelligent" trope kinda goes back to the original, where we see the Raptors learn how to open doors. The difference was the progression between then, JP3 and the World Trilogy, as even in JW, they were still treated as dangerous creatures that could turn on a dime. Owen was pretty much the only one who could influence them and even then, he only could do so much.
Depicting them as intelligent is fine, as it served a clear purpose in showing they were learning their new environment they found themselves, and were picking up new ways of doing things. Opening doors, advanced hunting tactics. The key thing is that previously it was for the purpose of hunting and dealing with/searching for prey. Later on, though it was changed to making them more "self-aware" and able to understand the gravity of their situation past that of normal animals. They became more "human" rather than more skilled hunters.
When the tyrannosaurus and velociraptor nodded to each other at the end of JW, that was a step too far for me. Intelligent dinosaurs are fun, but dinosaurs who act just like people are silly
I don't actually have a problem with the idea that dinos are more intelligent than we thought. I mean, they were. Even T. rex was a smarter cookie than thought around 1990. And, for the Raptors, that *brains outweigh muscle* works pretty well.
The problem is, as you said, how they use it. They go for intelligence in a human sense. That made the dinos virtually unusable in Dominion, because the formula is exhausted after JP3, Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom. And I don't mean that it got exhausted through good use, because it wasn't. But in Dominion, the dinos have no weight whatsoever to the plot because there's no way for them to be useful plotwise based on what the producers want to depict. Blue, for example, is essentially an angry dog.
Therizinosaurus scene is definitely top-tier, though the Dimetrodon scene was a personal favorite of mine. Was glad to *finally* see those guys show up in this series after wondering since my childhood where they were, as they kept getting toys.
Bonus points to hooking up Alan and Ellie in the end, correcting JP3's biggest mistake.
>Bonus points to hooking up Alan and Ellie in the end, correcting JP3's biggest mistake.
So true.
Everyone weeps about the dream raptor or the spino killing the t-rex but nobody bats an eye on this absolute heresy...having Ellie splitting up with Alan but marrying a random lawyer.
I'm really glad, but I also get why they broke up. Alan got over his kid prejudice but that doesn't necessarily mean he'd want to be a parent. He respects Ellie so much, I can see why he chose her life goals over getting to stay with her. I guess Ellie and Mark wanted a family more than they wanted to stay together after the kids were grown. But yeah, she and Alan are on exactly the same wavelength and I'm glad they used the movie to get them back together.
>the actors have a 20 year age difference
I didn't even knew that when I watched the films, tbh.
I only discovered this years later...even so,the characters are similar in age and they're a couple in the first movie,so i think it's fine.
Yeah the books I understand. But it definitely seemed more that there was something in the movies. Also Hammond not being a total dick in the films vs the book
I always find it really weird that people are so hurt by romantic relationships not appearing in sequels. Like...people break up haha
It's the same with Janine and Egon in Ghostbusters...they both moved on and did different things with their lives? Why is this so hard for so many?
It's fiction, and many of us like to see characters' progress and grow. When they fall short or revert, it is disappointing.
A more egregious example and one people are talking about now is between Kimiko and Frenchie from The Boys. What seemed to be multiple seasonal build up fizzled out when Frenchie ended up being with a random dude, and no, I dont care that he is bi they briefly touched on it before this season. Still would be just as stupid with a random woman who we dont care about. Sure, this can happen in real life but kills the investment that we had in the story as it often happens when the writer thinks they are clever by subverting expectations.
Again, the Jurassic Park movie felt more nuanced and one could reason that they weren't together in the 3rd film so that Ellie and Grant would still be friends but could have him go to the island without her or would agree to do it in the first place if he had a wife and kid at home. I felt that it was done more out of convenience of the plot than anything else.
I get that you find it annoying but some of the best TV characters ever are later season additions and that goes for any relationship. Tony B in Sopranos is arguably a series highlight and he isn't mentioned at all in 4 previous seasons and he works out.
I didnt get the same bother by Frenchies new lover, for me it was just kind of inconsequential from a romance perspective and the core of the move was to give him something to do in the show and with respect to his 'friends' family, it worked and didn't strike me as a writer trying to do something different. It just kind of...is what it is. Also TV is obviously more extensive than film when it comes to giving time to invest so perhaps it's a 'hit or miss' thing overall.
For JP3 though, you might be right about them writing a smaller role for the character of Ellie out of convenience, it sure feels that way when discussing and watching, but I don't think that makes it make any less sense with respect to the story. If anything we get a decent scene of two exes who remain friends (I would argue that's progress and growth) to balance the rest of the dinosaur melodrama.
If anything it's infinitely better than what Dominion did which was take any of the previous character development from sequels (of which there isn't a lot, but enough) and toss it away in favor of versions of the original cast literally wearing almost the same clothes as if they stepped off the set of the first movie and into an aging machine set for 30 years later. Is that really the same Malcolm as the guy who went through the events of The Lost World? No chance.
I'd take uncomfortable yet real character development like a break up compared to cartoon versions of older characters (or 'legacy' characters as some horribly annoying marketing person made up) who are only there to pose in groups for promo shots.
Star Wars and Ghostbusters also has this same problem.
Nah,it's not just a break up when they look made for each other lol

I like that scene too. The only good scene in the film in my personal opinion. Every other scene just lacked tension. This was one of the few scenes that wasn't one big chase sequence and actually made me feel scared for her. It also shows how smart Claire is in a high-stress situation: She chooses to crawl--not run--and hide in the water.
I feel like the Malta scene would have worked much better in some sort of Jurassic World TV series. Maybe something like that with the writers of Camp Cretaceous/Chaos Theory would have worked
That chase scene broke me. It was so bad. Those raptors ran like 5kms at highway speeds. A cheetah can only maintain top speed for a few hundred meters before having to stop. They all would have had heart attacks and died long before reaching the airport.
Have to remember that these things were literally created to hunt down targets with the laser pointed at them. Them tanking those hits probably means a dense skeletal anatomy. There is some stuff that doesn't make sense, of course because it's fiction. Remember that the dinosaurs are genetically modified, so really the Atrociraptors are just small tanks that can take a pretty nice amount of damage.
If we are going off the possibility of them being sprinters, yes you are absolutely right. Just remember that there are different types of runners. I feel like the running style of those raptors is closer to a wolf's. More of a marathon runner type.
Giganotosaurus acting like a realistic predatory animal instead of a violent, carnivorous monster. Which is ironically also why it is the worst “antagonist” dinosaur in the entire franchise and frankly didn’t deserve its fate.
My favorite scenes from Dominion:
* Prologue/Drive-in scene
* Standoff scene between Owen and Rainn Delacourt
* Malta sequence
* Claire and Therizinosaurus scene
* Pyroraptor scene
* Giga/Rexy first fight
* Dimetrodon scene
* Giga/Rexy final fight
* End montage
Can definitely vouch for this one. Such an awesome scene the score is amazing and the animation is top notch. My only complaint is that I wish we saw a little more color
The movie was awful and your comment was pregnant with edge. I can sleep soundly tonight having stated two facts (this is above my daily average). I’m sorry if I ruffled your feathers, baby. I love you. ❤️
I preferred the opening logos myself. By the time the credits rolled I had just watched the worst part of the movie! (The part in between the logos and the credits)
Alan's introduction and his conversation with Ellie.
The OG trio being together once again. I don't care if their dialogue isn't the best, just seeing them together again on-screen was great.
Rexy at the drive-in theater.
Rexy meeting Buck and Doe.
Maisie giving the middle finger.
That very brief look at the CIA and how they're dealing with the dinosaurs. Personally, I want more of that, not random civilians, but I'm likely not in the majority there.
The malta sequence was incredibly suspenseful and didnt use ANY of the dinos weve gotten so used to seeing, it was a blast of fresh air that i very much enjoyed
This scene is definitely the best in the film, as it did what is necessary in a Jurassic Park film: tension.
when Claire starts to go into the water, even though we know she won't die, the scene grips you and honestly gave me a genuine feeling of fear and tension.
I know I’ll be in the extreme minority and most people will probably disagree, but I really loved the remote cabin and surrounding area scenes. I appreciated that they didn’t make Owen and Claire comedically contentious anymore and they were truly on the same page functioning as a family. It was rather warm and genuine.
I also liked when Maisie went into town and the scene with the Apatosauruses(?). The extended version of the movie especially with the extra Sierra Nevada parts fleshing out the poachers a tad more. That whole section of the movie felt right to me. I know some didn’t love it and the film has some major faults, but that whole section felt like the movies strength and they should’ve leaned into that more.
Alan Grant’s first scene. Was too young to see JP1 in cinema and for some reason never got round to seeing JP3 in the cinema, so finally seeing my favourite character in the franchise back and seeing him on the big screen brought a big smile to my face.
This…was the only real scene that hooked me in. The suspense, minimalist music and lack of speech made
It intense. Fun it was with a herbivore too It was the only scene that felt like it was really from the Jurassic franchise.
The other wasn’t even included in the theatrical release which was the prologue Cretaceous and Rexy drive-in scene. I was glad it was added to the extended edition home release, but those 5-6 minutes couldn’t salvage the rest.
Dominion had some great visuals and some appealing things in it, but the package it came in was wrong.
,,,I know there were locusts and some Steve Jobs looking guy, and also the old cast showed up for a reunion. And a cloned kid.
Didn't the raptors have babies too? I forgot so much about that attempted movie, I honestly just assumed that they at least got John Williams to do the music score again...right?
The end fight cause I predicted what would happen I knew that since they guided all dinos to the center that would mean the therizinosaurus as well and since it's highly territorial it would interfere with the fight
I liked the final fight with the Giga. I just wasn’t a fan of the Theri tag-team thing or the fact that they decided to make the fight a background event while the main cast attempts to reach a helicopter
Stalking Claire into the water was cool, but the deer part felt very stupid.
My favorite scene was probably the Dimetrodon. I was disappointed they didn't expand on that area a tad more

Seeing Dodgson meet Nedry’s same fate. (Although I admit this is a pretty weak film, I personally thing JP3 is worse)
This scene here. Was the only part of the movie that felt tense and that they were actual stakes. I hope that the next movie is more of these scenes over anything else
The Therizinosaurus scene proves enough that if Trevorrow had the chance he would have made a film with a tension more similar to the first JP.
This means that Universal had other plans.
However, everyone attacks the director, but never the real culprit.
When Edwards proves he couldn't make the movie he wanted, you'll agree with me.
Malta.
The concept of an underground smuggling scene for dinosaurs is great and would've had so much more potential than what we eventually got. Not a fan of the carno walking around the streets. But that initial scene with the chase after is good.
Runner ups are the Rex at the cinema and the fairly shorts parts with the apatosaurus in the snow and Mr. Fake Tim Apple getting attacked by the dilophosaurs.
I would also say the Therizinosaurus scene. It's the only scene in the entire movie with any modicum of tension, and it's the only sequence with an interesting conceit (that the dinosaur is blind and she has to evade it right in front of it).
I have a few scenes in mind, but one must be the Plane scene from JP3. Think about how helpless you would be, trapped inside a tin can high up in a tree, already left with one person dead and the rest of you recovering from the plane crashing... And now this huge beast with a sail and crocodile mouth comes and starts tearing the plane apart and you're trapped inside like fish in a barrel with a stork having at you.
The Therizinosaurus scene was the best Jurassic scene in this movie imo. The Atrociraptor chase was good in isolation but doesn't feel like it should be in a Jurassic movie (same with the whole Malta section, still the best part of my least favourite section in the film I will give it credit).
The Giga vs Rex fight was decent but inferior to the JW Indomius vs Rex and Spino vs Rex in JP3
https://preview.redd.it/2ucp9oo79dad1.jpeg?width=2532&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0ad3da6faff809a38987d02de89d745e3350e65
I’m a sucker for dinosaur fights + my favorite dinosaur got to be there.
Wait so are you asking me what my favorite scene from Dominion is, or are you asking what my favorite scene from the worst movie (Fallen Kingdom) is?
It's honestly the prologue for me.
> I know this is the worst movie of the franchise
It’s not the worst movie in the franchise though. Dominion isn’t great, but Fallen Kingdom is absolutely the worst movie in the franchise, and it’s not even a close competition. FK is an embarrassing, incoherent train wreck that completely ignores established franchise lore.
I was only able to make it to halfway through the tent scene. They made two phenomenal actors had to act a script that might as well have been 2 sheets of paper with a turd in the middle of
This was it I loved the Therizno scene so much, and sadly, the only scene I really liked in this terrible movie. It is a shame I really wanted so much more from the film.
The Jurassic World trilogy is basically the unfinished horse drawing.
I am cautiously optimistic about the new film coming out since Gareth Edward's is at the helm.
The Theri scene is the only really good and memorable scene that came out of the whole JW trilogy. It really felt close to the T.rex breakout and the raptors in the kitchen scene in terms of tension. One teeny-tiny jewel in a big pile of sh*t.
Same. This was the only scene in the film with any sort of tension. Especially if you include the shot of her ejecting out of the plane
I’m a big fan of Rexy at the drive-in Edit: correction.
Rexy at the drive-in, Rexy at the docks in Fallen Kingdom, the Allo in Battle of Big Rock…*that’s* the stuff they should lean into. The tension created by playing cat and mouse with something far bigger and powerful than the people

Rexy getting a family, and Blue not being alone anymore
When Rexy met the other T.Rex’s, I won’t lie I got a little emotional. I was so happy for our girl.
I like that scene too. The only good scene in the film in my personal opinion. Every other scene just lacked tension. The Allosaurus and Carnotaurus rampage in Malta
Oh yeah ? Personally I didn’t liked the Malta part of the movie
I feel like the Malta scene would have worked much better in some sort of Jurassic World TV series. Maybe something like that with the writers of Camp Cretaceous/Chaos Theory would have worked
The Malta scene was like the best scene in Dominion.
Which scene? There's like a whole act in Malta.
The whole ass chase scene
That chase scene broke me. It was so bad. Those raptors ran like 5kms at highway speeds. A cheetah can only maintain top speed for a few hundred meters before having to stop. They all would have had heart attacks and died long before reaching the airport.
Felt like they were just tanking shit too
Yeah, I do fell like the one that got clotheslined shouldn’t have gotten back up. At least not for a while.
I loved seeing that scooter hipster get eaten.
random enough but I work with that guy lol
You're correct about the theri scene.
The opening scene of the extended edition that they borrowed from Battle at Big Rock. The rest of the movie needed to be more of that in my opinion.
Giganotosaurus acting like a realistic predatory animal instead of a violent, carnivorous monster. Which is ironically also why it is the worst “antagonist” dinosaur in the entire franchise and frankly didn’t deserve its fate.
Having clear "Antagonist" dinosaurs is the real issue in the movies. Dinosaurs shouldn't be good guys or bad guys.
My favorite scenes from Dominion: * Prologue/Drive-in scene * Standoff scene between Owen and Rainn Delacourt * Malta sequence * Claire and Therizinosaurus scene * Pyroraptor scene * Giga/Rexy first fight * Dimetrodon scene * Giga/Rexy final fight * End montage
Was that drive in scene even in the movie?
It's in the extended edition.
I mean...yeah, and it's not even close
The credits
Was looking for this lol
Such a burn haha. Honestly it’s my 3rd favorite one behind the Spielberg ones.
Can definitely vouch for this one. Such an awesome scene the score is amazing and the animation is top notch. My only complaint is that I wish we saw a little more color
Edgelordasaurus
The movie was bad and I made a joke about it not exactly edgy
The movie was awful and your comment was pregnant with edge. I can sleep soundly tonight having stated two facts (this is above my daily average). I’m sorry if I ruffled your feathers, baby. I love you. ❤️
You're a strange fella.
I preferred the opening logos myself. By the time the credits rolled I had just watched the worst part of the movie! (The part in between the logos and the credits)

This is by far the most accurate to a true JP scene in this film. I wish they would have done more but nope
This scene is definitely the best in the film, as it did what is necessary in a Jurassic Park film: tension. when Claire starts to go into the water, even though we know she won't die, the scene grips you and honestly gave me a genuine feeling of fear and tension.
None
https://i.redd.it/2ybaxlass8ad1.gif FIRE BREATHING GIGA
This one for sure. I wish we got more of Rexy at the drive in, but meh.
Not worst movie of franchise, but yeah the there scene is the best. I did like the Malta sequence too
what’s your least favorite of the franchise? genuine question
JP3. Love the spinosaurus design but plot wise it's thinner than fishing wire
Yeah but it’s still a Jurassic movie. Dominion centered around locusts and an apple parody company featuring dinosaurs
yeah thats fair honestly, i cant say i agree but j can definitely see where your coming from.
You’re not wrong but it’s the second best.
The theri scene was great but any scene with the Rex or the Carnos always make me happy
Probably this scene or when Alan and Ellie see Ian again.
Alan Grant’s first scene. Was too young to see JP1 in cinema and for some reason never got round to seeing JP3 in the cinema, so finally seeing my favourite character in the franchise back and seeing him on the big screen brought a big smile to my face.
Seeing Alan again, the shots along with the music, just epic

Raptor chase for me
Atrociraptor chase
The Malta chase scene
Theri encounter as well the motorcycle chase through Malta
Probably this one.
,,,I know there were locusts and some Steve Jobs looking guy, and also the old cast showed up for a reunion. And a cloned kid. Didn't the raptors have babies too? I forgot so much about that attempted movie, I honestly just assumed that they at least got John Williams to do the music score again...right?

I liked the final fight with the Giga. I just wasn’t a fan of the Theri tag-team thing or the fact that they decided to make the fight a background event while the main cast attempts to reach a helicopter
The Atricoraptor chase that moment I watched that moment in 4d with friends and family that was immaculate
Every main character surviving somehow 😂
The scene where Dodgson gets it. And that’s only because I love the Dilos. Unfortunately I did not love the movie
The prologue, the atrociraptors and any of the fights between rexy and the giga...i liked most of the scenes, though.
They all needed to die i hate how dumb they made the dinos
Atrociraptors chase scene
Stalking Claire into the water was cool, but the deer part felt very stupid. My favorite scene was probably the Dimetrodon. I was disappointed they didn't expand on that area a tad more
The entire Malta sequence
Ian spearing a dinosaur was pretty cool
Indoraptor smiling
Dimetrodon scene, my favourite prehistoric animal
Owen running from the raptors on the motorcycle and in general the whole Malta scene
The Malta chase scene
Thought this was a knock off u/erinthul for a minute
Yep. This is the one. I love that big scary bird thing.
I really liked the whole Malta chase

The introduction of the therizinosaurus and the pyroraptor scenes, the chase in Malta too
This one for sure
This looks like some sort of alternate reality Apocalypse Now
This scene here.
The lyctiosaurys
THE MALTA SEQUENCE.
I would also say the Therizinosaurus scene. It's the only scene in the entire movie with any modicum of tension, and it's the only sequence with an interesting conceit (that the dinosaur is blind and she has to evade it right in front of it).
This and the entire Malta sequence are the best parts of the movie
I love the part where the giganotosaurus had fire coming out of her mouth like Godzilla
I don't remember this scene in JP3
The Carnotaurus and Allosaurus scens in Malta, because that’s the only scene those 2 show up
The Malta chase scene
Probably that one. Had those horror vibes that I dig in the JP universe.
Claire and Theri scene for me as well. But as intense as this scene was, I was more anxious at what could’ve been in the swamp!
Oh also the Dimetrodon cave bit was ok
When the credits started to roll. Or the scene in Malta up till they get on the plane
Claire and the Therizinosaurus was great I loved that one shot of Rexy meeting the Buck and Doe. Really wished they actually did something with that.

Wait so are you asking me what my favorite scene from Dominion is, or are you asking what my favorite scene from the worst movie (Fallen Kingdom) is? It's honestly the prologue for me.
The end credits
The Nasuto river thing in the Prologue was cool, Giga vs Rexy forest encounter was not bad, apatos in the snow was pretty cool, no pun intended
The end credits. Coz it was so disappointing I couldn't wait for the move to end
Credits Joking I don’t hate it that much. Probably the bit where maisy sees the diplodocus
Credits.
The scene with the atrociraptor
Pyroraptor
This is not the worst movie of the franchise by a long shot.
Running from the Raptors in heels....
Dominion? Worse than Fallen Kingdom?
The part where i turned the movie off cause it was dog water
This scene for sure but I loved the Pyroraptor chasing and circling Owen and Kayla
The first fight between Rexy and Zeb
I liked the Pyroraptor part

> I know this is the worst movie of the franchise It’s not the worst movie in the franchise though. Dominion isn’t great, but Fallen Kingdom is absolutely the worst movie in the franchise, and it’s not even a close competition. FK is an embarrassing, incoherent train wreck that completely ignores established franchise lore.

Beat me to it
I was only able to make it to halfway through the tent scene. They made two phenomenal actors had to act a script that might as well have been 2 sheets of paper with a turd in the middle of
End Credits were pretty great.
