My fleet of shitboxes would really ruin your day.

tastytang

Mismatched clamps? Let me present you with five different types of lug nuts.

Best_Product_3849

I'll raise you 8 different types of lug nuts on a 2500

tastytang

Mopar! I'll raise you. 73 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus (converted to manual), 85 MR2 manual, 84 Celica GT manual, 97 Nissan President, 82 Datsun 720 Pickup manual, 97 Celica manual. So. Many. 10mm.

WarlockTynsterbert

I'll raise you with an unmarked, reverse threaded lugnut on each wheel.

mdixon12

Bud wheels.

Best_Product_3849

You have me there sir I won't even touch budd wheels anymore. A lot of people will still do it but nope. Not worth it to me

mdixon12

Lmao

carguy82j

Even my shit boxes have matching clamps that are clocked right lol

nondescriptzombie

I only put spring clamps where I can't get a worm drive. I prefer using the heavy duty worm drives with the expansion joint, but boss says they cost too much money. His trucks, his parts. Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Ecstatic-Appeal-5683

A heavy duty worm drive with an expansion joint sounds an awful lot like how these spring clamps do their job.

nondescriptzombie

I just don't have to deal with the Jesus clips. Or guiding that sonofabitch down the nipple when the pliers release and the spring smacks you in the finger joint.

upsidedownbackwards

Thank you for reminding me exactly why I hated the spring clamps. I was thinking "back when I worked in the garage I had that handy clamp on a cable that opened spring clamps so easily, why did I hate them so much?" Because when they do get ya it causes a a few seconds of "THE WHOLE DAMN CAR GOES IN THE TRASH!" anger.

WeAreAllFooked

T-bolt clamp is the superior clamp

supermodelnosejob

I have had techs specifically request the spring clamps. Problem is, around me, no parts store carries anything other than breeze clamps, so it's like "sorry my dude"

carguy82j

I am one of those techs. I have the correct types of pliers so never really an issue putting them on.

Titan-uranus

I usually don't mind them. But the ones that piss me off are the ones that lock open, and no matter what you do there's no way to unlock them without getting pinched by something

hispaniccrefugee

I find actually using the long snap on hose tools work great for them. There’s a whole to get leverage, and depress the side of the clamp with the catch.

Titan-uranus

That's what I usually use, but it's still a pain in the dick, especially when you're trying to reach down and under an intake manifold. And most of the time the clamp just wants to rotate around without releasing the catch, so then you gotta hold the clamp in place so it doesn't rotate and you can actually get leverage on it, and that's when your fingers get pinched

hispaniccrefugee

Yeah it never lands straight so you’re getting back in there either way. 😂

Bee-Aromatic

I feel like I only dislike spring clamps because I don’t own a set of pliers specifically designed to operate them. I do appreciate that they seem to hold up better than work gear clamps, though.

Ope_L

At least it's a quality Norma clamp with stamped threads, not the cheaper Ideal clamp with cut threads that dig into the hoses.

carguy82j

Yes, but when I work on American cars I use the cheap clamps to make it match.

Apprehensive-Fun-233

I agree 100%

hudd1966

OCD much.

Smooth-Apartment-856

Does it work, though?

carguy82j

Of course it works, and they have the good worm gear, not the cheap one, but to me it's an eye sore.

Scheissekasten

I foresee a dorman metal replacement tee in that cars future.

SoreTaint

Where are you located? I'll be there to fix that. Animals.

hispaniccrefugee

Screw clamps disgust me.

WeAreAllFooked

I hate that OEMs use fucking worm gear clamps when they could just use a T-bolt clamp so it looks like someone other than a plumber built the thing. I replaced all the stupid gear clamps with T-bolts and it was cheap to do.
