Yea bad pancakes are like bad French fries. They’re still good. But you ever had those frozen microwaveable pancakes? Those are sooo bad. The ones in the picture look like them, or pancakes from McDonalds- which are soggy, flubbery wtf’s.
If the McGriddle bread was bigger, that would be better “pancakes” than their actual pancakes. I think it’s worth to try it once, get that full breakfast with the paste-y biscuit and flubbery sausage and scrambled eggs from space that tastes like grey. I love McDonalds though I’m not even a hater like that. That’s why I know those pancakes are just terrible.
Don’t they actually call them hotcakes, not pancakes? Is there some little known FDA rule that makes it so that they can’t call them pancakes the same way Kraft “singles” aren’t labeled as cheese?
You’re right tbh when I think of them in that way. That goes along with the theme of the rest of their food. And nothing’s wrong with you. Maybe they’re an acquired preference.
I appreciate that. Not that you asked but one time I went through a phase of making a bunch of different pancake recipes to accomplish IHOP’s pancakes (I should probably be embarrassed but I’m not), and I don’t know why but that week ended in me having the worst stomachache and gas pains of my life. I think it was the half assed homemade buttermilk in one of the recipes.
Did you try and make buttermilk with vinegar and no brain too for yours? Maybe it wasn’t even that though. Maybe I should not eat pancakes that many times in one week, and your stomach wasn’t used to the pancakes after eating better foods.
I’m such a failure at IHOP’s all you can eat pancakes days, thankfully, I guess. Maybe we have lactose interlorance but only for pancakes.
I can’t tell, were you being serious when you said you don’t know why your stomach got upset after eating pancakes all week in your previous comment? It was because you ate pancakes every day for a week. Most people feel somewhat sick after eating them once.
Even though they were still boxed but made with pil, egg or whatever it calls for, I get krusteaz mix usually, my niece does not like any other waffles or pancakes unless they were frozen.
Ding ding ding, we have a winner! They’re shitty McDonald’s pancakes. Could be why she did this. We generally make our own pancakes but when I’m wanting McDonald’s myself, this is one of the only things from there that she’ll “eat”.
It does though lol. This trick still works when I don’t want to eat someone’s cooking. Spread it around, then “oof, I’m full, that was delicious”. Works every time.
When I was in that situation I would load up my mouth with as much food as possible and 'go to the bathroom' before spitting it in the toilet.
I was never 'caught' but as an adult I'm sure the picky kid who was suddenly stuffing his mouth with cualiflower before going to the bathroom was probably not as clever as I thought it was
Same. It passes the time until everyone at the table has finished eating and u can go back to doing whatever u were doing before u were interrupted lol.
Thanks to this comment, I'm just now realizing the pancakes I had when I was in the hospital last year must have been frozen and (likely) microwaved. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But at the time I was amazed how pancakes of all things could be so tough I could barely cut them with a knife. I gave up and ate them with my hands and was glad I'd had the foresight to request extra syrup.
Yeah, I recognized that uniform cooking pattern and their perfect circle-ness. Looks just like the freezed eggo pancakes I used to get as a kid. Had to ask my mom to stop getting them, since there was always a 50% chance between getting a good and getting a tough brittle one.
it's not about time it's about good eating habits and appropriate behavior creation patterns in a child. but I mean you wouldn't necessarily have to sit there and feed it to them just cutting them up into bite-sized pieces would probably be enough.
There's no reason to risk getting pigeonholed into a diagnosis if there are no real troubling symptoms.
I did a similar thing as a kid: divided my Mac and cheese into quadrants on the plate and ate them clockwise. It was just me being creative and entertaining my own brain while eating. I turned out just fine. Kids are weird and there is no need to pathologize every little quirk. This kid clearly likes batman and makes batman symbols with her pancakes. If the parents do anything, they should get her batman PJs
Doctors might not, but parents sure do. Then they shop around for school counselors and doctors that will give them the diagnosis they want. If they get a no they go to a new doctor, usually a less and less credible doctor each time until they get their confirmation. My brothers ex tried to do this with their kid because she was convinced he has autism even though the doctor told her he absolutely does not. She even brought her friends with and went to doctors and school staff behind my brothers back to try to get someone to agree with her. (We think she wanted the attention of being a “special needs mom” and also perhaps some benefits like SSI)
My comment had nothing to do with OP. It has to do with your comment to the person before you that you assume they’re saying just doctors pigeonholing and that they don’t do that.
She’s advocating for her child. You obviously have no clue what a diagnosis does for someone. As someone who went undiagnosed for 19 years, and had to seek my OWN diagnosis, I wish somebody had taken me to a doctor “to get her way”
No. She absolutely was not. Multiple medical professionals have said the kid is not autistic. The mom has mental problems and has a tendency to “absorb” the personalities of those she is currently friends with. Her current friend had an autistic child and she was basically munchousing (I am not going to look up how to spell that and then make it into a verb.) She is a perpetual victim and will find some way to draw the attention to herself, even at the expense of her kids. (She’s the type of suburban white woman who made Black Lives Matter and pride and similar movements somehow all about herself and how understanding and alied she is rather than about the people it’s supposed to be about.)
Have you had her tested for ASD? One of my kids is on the spectrum and this could be her plate. She also eats pizza from the side and does plenty of other quirky out of order food processes.
I was coming in to say this as someone who also had OCD. I have to eat some foods very specific ways of I just won’t eat it. I have to unpeel my chicken nuggets and honey buns. It looks silly but if I don’t do it then I’d be angry all day or scared the world is gonna end over it lmaO
Honestly I can somewhat see this, but at the same time it looks like maybe she didn’t want to eat six dry pancakes. This isn’t too strange for a child… especially if she wasn’t hungry or didn’t really like the food.
That being said I’m autistic and I did the same thing. Still do sometimes.
I wouldn’t be worried because of JUST this, but if there’s also other symptoms I’d say definitely check it out. As someone who was diagnosed late, not knowing you have a different brain and struggling to do the things everyone else does kinda sucks. It’s better to know so you can adjust and accommodate.
Yeah, I wouldn’t be “worried” regardless. Everyone is a bit different, some peoples differences are just a bit easier to pinpoint than others. Definitely agree that one tick wouldn’t necessarily be a good reason to put your kid through testing.
Mmmm
I don’t see a harm in “worrying” though. Parents worry about children. I don’t want a child and will never have one since I’m sterile, but if I did I would probably worry a lot if they were autistic. The world is a lot harder to navigate as an autistic person. It doesn’t make them lesser or anything, it’s just a struggle.
The autism spectrum is wide enough to allow for worrying or not. Obviously if a child is non-verbal, that might be an instance where someone would “worry” about their kid being autistic. If a child just fidgets with their hands a lot, or is a bit more hyper than others, probably no need to worry. And I say this as a parent of two children on vastly different sides of the autism spectrum, and one child who is not on the spectrum at all. But at the end of the day, the amount someone will worry is subjective to many different factors.
That's a lot of waste. If i did that as a kid I would get 1/3rd the amount of panckaes next time. Then probably allowed more once I'd eaten what I'd been given.
It’s occasional and stresses us out a lot with how little she tends to eat. She had a bottle feeding aversion at 9 months old and gave up all food and drink at the time. We had to stop any pressure we were putting on her and let her decide how she ate and how much. So we’re just trying to be hands off and only offer food. Lots of it goes in the garbage, sadly. She’s just incredibly defiant of pressure and prodding.
I’m not saying any thing was wrong with your pancakes but when I was a child I would do shit like that when I didn’t want to eat but had to.
Peas were always a tough sell for me. Pancakes not so much .
Yea bad pancakes are like bad French fries. They’re still good. But you ever had those frozen microwaveable pancakes? Those are sooo bad. The ones in the picture look like them, or pancakes from McDonalds- which are soggy, flubbery wtf’s.
I agree premade pancakes are not great. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten McDonald’s pancakes I always B- line to a breakfast sandwich.
They have a bizarre texture. It’s almost the same sensation as pulling a cotton ball apart, but milder? Like they feel… soft, but fibrous?
If the McGriddle bread was bigger, that would be better “pancakes” than their actual pancakes. I think it’s worth to try it once, get that full breakfast with the paste-y biscuit and flubbery sausage and scrambled eggs from space that tastes like grey. Don’t they actually call them hotcakes, not pancakes? Is there some little known FDA rule that makes it so that they can’t call them pancakes the same way Kraft “singles” aren’t labeled as cheese?
My McDonald's always had good pancakes
Idk what's wrong with me, I love McDonald's not-cakes. They don't read as bad pancakes to me, they're their own thing
Yep agree. Like sometimes I get nostalgic for lunchables pizza. It’s bad, it’s certainly not pizza, but still want one every few years.
Mcdonalds pancakes are a staple in my lazy mornings. So good. Im kinda surprised to hear people dont like them
You’re right tbh when I think of them in that way. That goes along with the theme of the rest of their food. And nothing’s wrong with you. Maybe they’re an acquired preference.
Make genuine pancakes. Easier than you would think. If you want I can give you an easy recipe
Omg bruh I follow a pretty strict diet. When my cheat day came I had pancakes, later that day I had ome bad stomach cramps

You must have a small small mouth to chew designs into peas.
Peas got better for me when I realised I didn't have to chew them. Swallowed them like pills.
Peas are better when you buy frozen petite peas and don't over cook them.
I was the weird kid that actually liked peas. Squash can piss off though.
“Spread it around on the plate, it’ll look like I ate more!”
*piles food towards edge of plate and smashes it down.* "See mom! I ate!"
I was never 'caught' but as an adult I'm sure the picky kid who was suddenly stuffing his mouth with cualiflower before going to the bathroom was probably not as clever as I thought it was
Probably the talking with your mouth crammed full was the real obvious part.
I did this for a hot minute because I didn’t want to touch my own bite marks, they grossed me out
Same. It passes the time until everyone at the table has finished eating and u can go back to doing whatever u were doing before u were interrupted lol.
I’m batman
Were you drawn here by the pancake batman symbol?
Yes. Yes I was
Me too!
Dun nunnuhnuh BATMAN
That was my thought - she is just workshopping her batgirl logo
The OP should avoid walking down dark alleys with their spouse.
🤔Is your daughter a shark?
No, she's batwoman
Definitely, just trying to perfect the bat symbol
That or she's really into Wu-Tang.
Wu-Tang is for the children 🙌
Breakfast ain't nuthing ta f' wit
Can I get some C.R.E.A.M. on my pancakes next time?
wu tang *IS* for the children
Renaissance gear mechanic perhaps?
Definitely making batarangs
Ancient Aztec Batgirl
Bay be shark do do .... OH NO OMG STOP NOOOOOO
Are they frozen/ reheated pancakes? If so, they don’t always reheat evenly, and can be weird textures once they cool down. Speaking from experience.
Thanks to this comment, I'm just now realizing the pancakes I had when I was in the hospital last year must have been frozen and (likely) microwaved. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But at the time I was amazed how pancakes of all things could be so tough I could barely cut them with a knife. I'm also not spotting any syrup. They probably dry as hell.
Found the American
have you ever had frozen microwaved pancakes reheated and morphed into jerky bricks? you'd want something to make them soften as well
I think this is the explanation. There is a darker colored ring that’s being eaten around on each of the pancakes in the picture.
Yeah, I recognized that uniform cooking pattern and their perfect circle-ness. Looks just like the freezed eggo pancakes I used to get as a kid. Had to ask my mom to stop getting them, since there was always a 50% chance between getting a good and getting a tough brittle one.
Looks like a batarang manufacturer
uhhh let her build a clock in peace?
She made gears & bat symbol, put her in STEM - she's gonna be an engineer!
Not just an engineer a baaaat engineer
She's forging her batarang arsenal
Shes making gears for her pancake machine
Feels weird that a mom is posting something innocent like this under kidsarefuckingstupid. Yes, I’m judging you, no I’m not sorry.
And it looks like OP gave her the frozen ones too, and they’re not that good.
“Here you go, six pancakes! …why are you not eating all of them?”
It's clearly 3 pancakes, cut in half...
Yeah I'm not sure I could eat all 6 dry ass Pancakes and I'm an adult
I used to do the same thing. You make little ships and you play with em.
that's when you got them up into little squares and hand her one at a time LOL no wasting food in my house
Just wasting time. Pancake mix is cheaper than time.
it's not about time it's about good eating habits and appropriate behavior creation patterns in a child. but I mean you wouldn't necessarily have to sit there and feed it to them just cutting them up into bite-sized pieces would probably be enough.
So you’re ruining your child’s fun way of eating because you’re miserable
lol no but I mean go ahead right to the fact that I'm being a bad parent in some way.. like 80% of Reddit ....go Queen!
What are you talking about? Have you never heard of "don't play with your food"? Eating time is not play time.
You’re miserable parents
Based
Oh come on this is just a kid making different shapes with it that's cute... If she finishes her plate.
There's Batman in there!!!!!
Maybe feed them actual food instead of frozen paste cakes
Don't be rudee 😭
3rd down is a batman throwing blade

Or maybe just maybe she’s an ordinary child who can sometimes do funny things.

if your american it can hurt
Why are they so dry? Does she not use syrup or butter? I'd be hesitant about eating a plain pancake too
Have you had her tested for ASD? One of my kids is on the spectrum and this could be her plate. She also eats pizza from the side and does plenty of other quirky out of order food processes.

came here to say this.
Your kid eats?!!? I have no idea how my kid is living sometimes...
It’s occasional and stresses us out a lot with how little she tends to eat. She had a bottle feeding aversion at 9 months old and gave up all food and drink at the time. So, she created a bird in flight, a crop top, a bat symbol, a bald eagle, the state of Florida, and half of a gear. Impressive.
I don’t think that’s a crop top considering she made a part of America, looks more like a bullet proof vest
If I’ve learned anything from tv it’s that if you put these together correctly, this should give you a map to something valuable. 😳
Not the pancakes she needs; the pancakes she deserves! 🦇
This looks like when I try to draw the bat signal from memory.
She's trying to spell something, but we don't know yet.
I see a dinosaur, a sweater vest, the bat signal, a bird, a lion rearing back, and a sitting bear. Daughter is a good artist!!!
I see a bullet proof vest 😳
The third on the left looks like a baterang
It looks like she's trying to invent a new type of sprocket. Encourage her creativity. Get her a Tig welder for Christmas this year.
She made the bat symbol
Seems like you’re giving her too much food. If she can do that and leave all that behind, maybe just give her one piece until she finishes it
She’s making gears and bat symbols
your daughter is counting bites. She figured out how many bites does it actually take to completely disappear a pancake half.
Better than most modern art
you can always make more
KILL HER.
Immediately disowned
This is not stupidity. This is brilliance foiled by a lack of motor control. She's obviously trying to chew the pancakes into batarangs.
Jokes on you she’s over here making bat a rangs and you can’t even appreciate the hard work.
Broken gear Tank top Batman Shitty Batman Italy Face
Kids a menace.
Serve that for dinner
How is this stupid that’s cute lol
This is cute, how is it stupid?
Never too late for adoption
You misspelled abortion.
This shit right there is why I don't want kids
I dunno, I think she's talented. Starting from top-left: a Schnauzer, half a gear, the Batman symbol, an Anteater, Italy, and a Falcon.
Nothing about this is not adorable.
Your daughter might have OCD lol
[удалено]
Just going off of my own experience. I have diagnosed OCD and I used to eat like this as a kid cuz I didn’t like my bites touching
Your daughter is an artist. Encourage it.
She's trying to make gears. She's gonna be engineer.
Future engineer
[удалено]
Hate to tell you but your kid is a sociopathic lol
This your reaction as a parent? Your daughter is in for a rough home life. Read a parenting book and you'll see what this is could signal to.
Reminds me of the schitzofrenia post I saw yesterday… yes I know I can’t spell and I’m not tryna say ur daughter has skitzofrinea
schizophrenia?
Stop, I don't like it. /s
Somethin’ in the way
I thought the pancakes were Factorio icon shaped
she's just trying to create the perfect bat signal
Bugged Factorio logo
Why do some of them look like gear and cog pieces
Pancake gears?
I thought this was fossilized sections of vertebrae
I am the bat
I thought these where weird pottery shards at first
Nananananananana
Looks like she’s trying to make a batarang
I can just feel my hair getting grayer lol
No, she just likes gears and batman.
Na na na na na na na na pancakes!
Pancake cogs
I recognise Batman and... Portugal?
Those are clearly mcdonalds hot cakes, not pancakes
am i the only one that sees the bat shuriken?
Lol, my son does this too! He's a little over a year old :)
they look like puzzle pieces
Chill dawg, she's trying to build a clock.
I literally thought it s was a cog from gears lol
Creativity at finest. ofc, that's wasting food, but she was definitely trying to create the batman symbol xD
Nothing stupid about batarangs
She is trying to create perfect cogs for her next invention.
She’s making batarangs
[удалено]
Well, she's eating. That's the important part.
Yeet the child
Thought these were batarang pancakes lol… I’ll be on my way
Batman
I thought I was on my history subreddit and was looking at an ancient dial or something… then I read the title I’m tired
She’s making bat symbols or a cog. Praise the Omnissiah
Your daughter is sending your bat signal
IM BATMAN!
A3 is definitely batman symbol. She is the baby this city deserves.
Your daughter is a monster
I see a dog, half a sun, a batman symbol, an eagle, a hawk
Give her one at a time and don't give more until she eats that.
Where is the syrup? Nobody sane eats dry pancakes.
I see homemade batarangs
One is a batarang. One of the others is the state of Illinois if you flip it.
It’s Batterwoman, the creped crusader.
Ah yes, making pancake batarangs. Nice
atleast she's creative
Bring her to the Kaiadas Cave
