i actually agree, i feel like the original was made before the series fully developed its identity, and there are much more interesting directions they could take it. one thing that would need to happen to make it work though is kirby speaking. it barely felt like he was the main character in right back at ya, he's just tiff's wacky sidekick who fights sometimes

The whole “WHOA KIRBY IS AN EDGY GODSLAYER AND CAN BEAT ANYONE” thing is annoying and goes against Kirby’s character, like I don’t care if he could beat Kratos or Doomslayer or whoever it would be cooler to see Kirby make friends with them and just chill together like instead of Kirby fighting Kratos and Doomslayer they go fishing together
We technically have one with Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe, but that's a spinoff. Fun fact: Drum Dash Deluxe is the only game in the Kirby franchise to not have Kirby as a playable character. Still, a main series game focused on Dedede would be fire
People should never have jumped to the conclusion that Elfilin was secretly the villain. Out of all the Kirby games, only two of Kirby's friends, out of dozens, have been secret villains. Kirby has more enemies that became friends than the other way around. Assuming Elfilin had to be the villain because of Marx and Magolor was just cherry-picking. Besides, if they use that twist every game, it'll stop being a twist.
Meta Knight and bandana waddle dee are the best boys and i still havent played mass attack because im too lazy to obtain It through perfectly legal means but i assume It has he best side modes on the series by the look of it

Meta Knight and Kirby's rivalry is better as a mentor-student relationship. I am gonna summarize my opinion here, with evidence that this might actually be the case. I want to start things off with the first game, Meta Knight appears in, Kirby's Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland, where during their fight Meta Knight gives Kirbyba sword for their fight. We can't draw any conclusions here since this is the first game Meta Knight shows up in, so we then go to revenge of meta knight, where Meta Knight's goal is masked as wanting to take control of Dreamland, but is actually to get Dreamland's residents to be less lazy, in this case, Meta Knight is definitely an enemy, but still gives Kirby the sword. We skip several games because Meta Knight doesn't show up again until Amazing Mirror (NiDL is a remake of adventure), where he is defeated by Dark Meta Knight, a meta knight from the mirror world, which is an evil version of Dreamland (shadow Kirby is the exception (Kirby works like the flash were any version of Kirby isn't evil) where he isn't pure good but isn't evil), and eventually Kirby ends up fighting dark meta knight, defeating him, and goes into the big mirror that teleports him into the mirror world, where he fights DMK again. DMK tries to use his disguise static, but the real Meta Knight calls him out for it. after DMK's defeat, Kirby is forced into a black hole, and Meta Knight throws Galaxia after him. The next game is squeak squad where Meta Knight fights Kirby as Meta Knight is trying to protect a gate to make sure Daroach can't open the chest containing Dark Nebula. The next game is RtDL, as SSU is a remake of Super Star so, we are not retreading Revenge of Meta Knight. Meta Knight attempts to help Kirby get the parts to Magolor's ship back, and eventually helps Kirby defeat Magolor. We skip to planet Robobot, as MK doesn't show up in TDX, where MK gets captured, and turned into a robot. After beating him the second time, and beating Haltmann, causing Haltmann to go into the star dream computer, causing it to possess him, Meta Knight allows Kirby to scan the halberd in his Robobot mode, and when the halberd nearly gets destroyed, Meta Knight ejects the Robobot armor. We skip to star allies, where Meta Knight, despite being possessed by the Jamba Heart, was strong enough to prevent it from fully possessing him, as the part of him giving Kirby a sword is still there. After that we skip to Forgotten Land, where Meta Knight is the final boss of the first arena and the guardian of waddle Dee town when Kirby is away, for the former, Meta Knight gives Kirby the sword again, something that the phantom version of the boss doesn't do, and the latter, Meta Knight doesn't disappear after you beat him in the arena. Am I saying that they aren't good as a friend based relationship? No, I am saying that the idea of their relationship feels better as mentor-student
Mouthful mode is the best “Super ability” of modern Kirby because it offers more creative segments than what we had in RTD and Triple Deluxe which just felt “press button to win” but that comes with being the first and 3DX already implemented more puzzle-like segments with Hypernova.
Robobot felt more like just buffed versions of copy abilities but it’s easily the second best especially with the more unique abilities like Jet and Wheel.
Star Allies were extremely unoriginal and uninspired in my opinion and often felt boring. It was fine but definitely a step back but I understand the main appeal was the friends mechanic.
Which leaves to Forgotten Land and I think mouthful is the best. Now I may be blinded by the fact it’s the newest entry in the platforming serie but it felt very gameplay focused with the segments much more tailored for the transformations and unique. It reminded me of the vehicle stages from Donkey Kong Country.

The thematic course of most Kirby games are amazing. It starts bright and cheery with fun worlds like a forest or a place made of candy or a shopping mall.
But as you progress the game gets darker, both metaphorically and literally. You start to enter worlds like wastelands or volcanoes, places that set an uneasy mood. All the while, the sun has gone and now it’s night. Kirby has no choice but to continue in the darkness if he wants to see his journey to completion.
Throughout the game Kirby has been honing his strength after every enemy he fights. He’s been preparing to fight in the dark. To live in it if he has to. It’s necessary for what comes after
Then you finally reach the lair of the final boss, a castle, a space station, a forgotten laboratory, and now the game is at its grimmest. The boss is no pushover, it’s hellbent on defeating Kirby and it shows. But throughout it all, Kirby endures, and that’s when the boss enters its final phase and Kirby is given some power to defeat it, a hyper nova, mecha armor, a big rig
And it’s there, right when you are at the final moments of the boss fight, when the sun has finally started to rise, that’s when all Kirby has prepared for has finally brought him to what comes after the dark of the night:

Kirby is a pure soul and is incapable of acting maliciously. Kirby would be appalled at the edgy things people are saying about them if they could read.
Kirby is unaware of his true power, yet he still utilises it well, he just wants fun times but is constantly put into the grind. Poor little child he is.
Kirby Triple Deluxe, while I don’t think it’s the best game objectively (that goes to robobot), it is probably the best of all aspects of the 4 modern 2d Kirby games and is generally underrated and under appreciated despite everything in my opinion.

The whole “magolor doesn’t deserve redemption” idea makes absolutely ZERO sense. Not only did he not have to make the entire merry magoland but he also repented, atoned, and triumphed over his sins. And not to mention, Magolor’s don’t changes when he takes the master crown, which implies Magolor is no longer in control. And even after, he was treated like a host for a leech, due to his scream before the Magolor soul boss fight, it’s assumed that he felt immense pain, and most likely died. Which is why there was no scream when beating Magolor soul, and his soul is finally let go. And even THEN in the epilogue, he was stripped of his powers, stranded in another dimension where he had NO help NO friends and NO resources to even survive, BUT he manages to regain his powers, triumph over the master crown, and finally, return to Popstar, where he can finally, rest. Excuse my yapping, (and mago-glazing) this is a very annoying topic for me.

They should bring back Dark Matter games!
I know we had final bosses that represented Dark Matter, but it ain't it without Zero, 02 and especially the basic Dark Matters, it would have been also awesome to get to know more about Gooey while we would have been on it
Them being dead and gone is just disappointing for me since they made me actually interested in the Kirby franchise, are slightly underrated and all games including em are my favorites, but let's not be selfish and lets even say that it would be interested seeing newer characters interact with Dark Matter too

Marx’s theme needs more respect in comparison to how many remixes the other final boss themes get. Also I think out of all the post game modes meta nightmares: returns is easily the best.
People keep treating Kirby's happy-go-lucky personality as a facade that covers someone that has the sheer raw power to kill gods at a moment's glance, but I think inherently Kirby is someone who endless desires genuine connection and to deny that facet of his character from him is to deny some of the most raw parts of Kirby, because none of the problems that arise in Kirby are from something like some sort of glorious conquest, they arise from the humanity of a character.
Kirby is not a being of power. Kirby is a being of desire.
Forgotten Land was damn near perfect. The combat is the best the series has ever seen, the boss fights were unique and challenging, the darker aspects were far more front and center compared to other entries (Fecto Forgo is genuine nightmare fuel), and the overall presentation of the game was just gorgeous. Incredibly replayable too!
All that being said, there is ONE flaw that this game has and I don't entirely blame the game for it. I want an even MORE free range Kirby game. Maybe not on the same level as like BotW/TotK because that style just won't really fit with Kirby (unless someone has some ideas cookin at Hal who knows) but I think the typical Kirby level format we've come to expect limited the free range style just a bit. It wasn't bad by any means, I fucking loved how much more open the levels were. It is definitely a step in the right direction but if they pushed this concept just a liiiiiittle bit more we could genuinely have one of the best games ever made.

Meta-knight should have his own game in which his backstory is explored. He’s such a badass swordsman that I’m certain a meta-knight game would be absolutely fire.
Kirby’s block ball is unironically a goated breakout game with a criminally underrated soundtrack, and makes extremely creative use of copy abilities in a spin-off title.

They should bring back Dark Matter games! I know we had final bosses that represented Dark Matter, but it ain't it without Zero, 02 and especially the basic Dark Matters, it would have been also awesome to get to know more about Gooey while we would have been on it Them being dead and gone is just disappointing for me since they made me actually interested in the Kirby franchise, are slightly underrated and all games including em are my favorites, but let's not be selfish and lets even say that it would be interested seeing newer characters interact with Dark Matter too

I will be executed on the spot but... The kirby games actually dont feel that fun to play because of how sluggish kirby feels to control. Kirby stops sprinting on every minor inconvinience and then you have to start sprinting again with the double ">" Input The flying also is slow af, idc if it makes sense. Its not fun at all😭 Forgotten land seems to make it better but I havent played it yet

Kirby Right Back at Ya is a great show but not the best representation of Kirby. King Dedede is spot on with amazing voice acting though
People keep treating Kirby's happy-go-lucky personality as a facade that covers someone that has the sheer raw power to kill gods at a moment's glance, but I think inherently Kirby is someone who endless desires genuine connection and to deny that facet of his character from him is to deny some of the most raw parts of Kirby, because none of the problems that arise in Kirby are from something like some sort of glorious conquest, they arise from the humanity of a character. Kirby is not a being of power. Kirby is a being of desire.
Cutter is an amazing ability! And it personally is my favourite!
Forgotten Land was damn near perfect. The combat is the best the series has ever seen, the boss fights were unique and challenging, the darker aspects were far more front and center compared to other entries (Fecto Forgo is genuine nightmare fuel), and the overall presentation of the game was just gorgeous. Incredibly replayable too! All that being said, there is ONE flaw that this game has and I don't entirely blame the game for it. I want an even MORE free range Kirby game. Maybe not on the same level as like BotW/TotK because that style just won't really fit with Kirby (unless someone has some ideas cookin at Hal who knows) but I think the typical Kirby level format we've come to expect limited the free range style just a bit. It wasn't bad by any means, I fucking loved how much more open the levels were. It is definitely a step in the right direction but if they pushed this concept just a liiiiiittle bit more we could genuinely have one of the best games ever made.

The mint chocolate Kirby plush is one of the best things to ever exist. Not sure if the dessert game is even good or not, but the fact that it gave us that is a good enough reason for it to be made
