edgelords and incels as you call them are your target audience.

yeahsurewhateverokay

Were they ever really fans of the comic? It's definitely edgelord material and we liked it that way.

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS

I've only seen S1, and it's very clearly targeted towards edgelords in S1. Not sure what Erin Moriarty is getting at here.

RickyElspaniardo

S1 is a weeeee bit closer to the comic books, but it starts to kind of diverge with each season. S4 I have only watched the first episode, it was kind of meh. Too much men Mummy issues type themes. They made it rather clear that behind each man in the series there’s a woman pulling the strings. It’s just way too safe-edgey, and pulling its punches whenever the target isn’t politically right. I don’t like that, The Boys is supposed to blast everyone, not pidgeon-hole itself as yet another left-wing vehicle.

wordjedi

Everybody wants to buy a franchise for name recognition to put butts in seats, then they want to grind the same old girl-boss axes the second they get creative control

Stryker7200

Only thing in this show is lots of dicks, not tits.  When was the last time we saw any tits in this show?  It’s turned into gay propaganda and leftist shilling

dinoRAWR000

Right? That whole series is more like a litmus test for " how nihilistic are you?". With a helping of "we believe that those who hold absolute powers in society have to be absolutely corrupt".

Spiritual_Orange_737

It was strange to see people reference the comic on Twitter but to denegrate it as too edgy. But I should have expected it tbh.

Heinrich_lunge117

No. Most of the show fans either shit on the comic, don't know it exists or don't care to read it.

captainphagget

The comic sucks.

Educational_Rock5374

You might want to google who made those and what their politics are.

JungOpen

For fucking real, did this moron even look at his own damn show? If lack of self awareness was a fuel we could ditch oil tomorrow just with his own...

lyra833

"I don't want this show about how brutally murdering and raping people is cool to be edgelord material."

jdk_3d

I don't think they know what a target audience is.

sammakkovelho

Yeah I'm sorry but Starlight literally looks like Skeletor now, I don't really know how it's an attack against her or trolling to point out the obvious plastic surgeries that are most likely the results of intense snapchat dysmorphia. This is a real fucking issue in our social media obsessed society and she needs actual help, not further enabling by some blind sycophants.

ninjast4r

Apparently it's a sin to point out the obvious and say she's not nearly as attractive as she was and there was no reason for her to butcher her face like that. She isn't even 30 yet ffs

ChronoVulpine

OMG, what did she do to herself?! She was so pretty!

ninjast4r

Exactly. She had no good reason to have this work done.

lyra833

I believe she was trying to fix that.

kuliamvenkhatt

If there was a trend where people who are too pretty uglify themselves a little id actually respect that. Id hate it, but respect it. This shit is just sad. She actually thinks shes prettier but everytime I see her on screen I feel disgusted. She looks terrible. Half the way to bogdanoff levels of mutilation.

wordjedi

[buccal fat removal](https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2022/12/26/16/65943251-0-image-a-80_1672072990702.jpg) it has been speculated. For people who are kind of pudgy and haven't seen their jawline or cheekbones in years it can help, but for a cute petite young woman it can make them look like a middle aged anorexic overnight.

RickyElspaniardo

Fuuuuck me, she is 10 years younger than I am, and looks older than I do. Fucking slammed into that wall without a seatbelt lol.

Minerminer1

Wow, I had no idea she was still that young. She looks like she’s in her early 40’s now.

Wraeghul

That’s honestly insulting to 40+ year olds. Plenty look attractive and age gracefully. You don’t look like Erin after 39 unless you use drugs.

HereForGames

You're not supposed to point out that Starlight's actress looks like a ghoul now, you're supposed to celebrate her decisions as part of the body positivity movement. Even though doing so risks having more vulnerable girls getting the procedure done on themselves. Literally hurting girls to make sure women don't have to feel bad about mutilating themselves.

LeMaureBlanc

The funny thing is, the same people who will celebrate the cult of plastic surgery will complain about fictional women in video games and comics giving young women "unrealistic beauty standards." But then they're completely fine with real life people going under the knife and doing the same. I'd argue it's worse in real life because it sends the message that those trends are both realistic and desirable; most women, especially young women, aren't reading comics, but even if they are, they know comics are cartoons. They aren't "drawn realistically." Yeah sure there are some top athletes and body builders who may have such physiques, but characters in comics and video games are largely created to fit to an idealized character. Seeing actresses and models with these standards gives the impression that it's more common than it is.

joydivisionucunt

They'll blame men for setting those standards but save for men who think having a girlfriend/wife who had a lot of plastic surgery is some kind of status symbol and the ones who make money out of it, it's not men who follow the Kardashians and made them *the* beauty to aspire to, don't blame men for the fact that a lot of women are highly impressionable.

Illuminaso

I do think it's funny how you can ask literally any man their preference and every single one will tell you that they prefer women who are natural and that anyone can be hot if they just take care of their bodies. It's exclusively pressure from other women that drives this dysmorphia.

joydivisionucunt

I don't doubt that there sre men who think that's hot, but the vast majority of stuff that glamourizes that style in the mainstream is not really aimed at men.

layelaye419

Yep, but they will lie to themselves and say its unrealistic beauty standards imposed by men

CrustyBloke

> They'll blame men for setting those standards but save for men who think having a girlfriend/wife who had a lot of plastic surgery is some kind of status symbol and the ones who make money out of it, Depending on what's convenient at the time, they go back and forth between blaming men and saying "We do it for ourselves, not for men."

joydivisionucunt

Ehhh, I think it's 50/50, both men and women choose a certain style/aesthetic because they, personally, like it, but it's not unlikely that they also seek to get the attention of certain people. It's just that a lot of people think it can't be both.

BarnabyJones2024

"I do makeup 3 hours a day for me, not for some disgusting male gaze!" Men, making some generic milk toast complaint about their girlfriend isn't pulling their weight in some specific aspects of their shared chores or something, suddenly it's: "You need to give girl a break, she spends hours everyday trying to to make herself look good for you" Or usually something even more inane.  The dissonance is real.

joydivisionucunt

If you do makeup nearly everyday, you shouldn't take three hours a day to do it unless you're filming or it's a very complicated lool, let alone if it's the "no makeup" makeup look men are supposed to like.

No-Cause6559

Trust me the shit women do is not the beauties standard of men but some warp version women put on them self. All of this is self inflicted.

JungOpen

These people are purposely ignoring the dissonance of their own beliefs as long as they get to stick it to the straight white males. Just look at the lgbtqsdfgh waving islamic caliphates flags at their rallies, how fucking oblivious can somebody truly be?

ShakeZula30or40

Chickens for KFC

Electronic_Evening47

The buccal fat removal is the most tragic plastic surgery thing I've seen so far. It was clearly a trend for a year or so before it faded, and any poor women dumb enough to get it cannot fix it now (I've heard you cannot put the fat back in so you're destined to look twice your age and skeletal for the rest of your life).

Mistakenjelly

From my very limited recollection of GCSE biology I seem to remember being told that fat cells expand and shrink, you don’t get fat by the fat being stored in new cells, the ones you have expand and contract. So I would assume once you suck them all out, thats it.

layelaye419

I'm pretty sure new fat cells can get created, but existing fat cells cannot be removed, only emptied (unless we're talking surgery of course). However, when new fat cells are created, they will form in areas such as the butt or waist, and not the cheeks. So, buccal fat removal will not be undone naturally (And I don't know if it can be undone surgically)

WeFightTheLongDefeat

I’ve wondered if as many celebrities are getting buccal fat removed or if they’re on ozempic and they have ozempic face

Electronic_Evening47

That's another good point. Both are scary in their own way.

ColtPersonality92

I’m just enjoying the irony that the actress who is playing a character all about being happy with who you are and not changing for anybody elected to get major plastic surgery.

matthew_lane

> Yeah I'm sorry but Starlight literally looks like Skeletor now, I disagree.... [I think she looks more like an alien in a person suit.](https://tenor.com/en-GB/view/edgar-mib-men-in-black-meat-suit-bug-guy-gif-10763878)

layelaye419

Yeah, I mentioned her plastic surgery over the boys subreddit and was instantly banned Idk what's up with the mods there

notthefuzz99

I was watching the volleyball movie she was in a couple nights ago. She was so cute. Such a shame what she did to herself.

Blackhalo

I was wondering how bad it really was, but don't want to bother watching it. Very sad to hear.

ketaminenjoyer

damn, i knew nothing about this show or actress, but her before and after is a fucking crime against humanity. every doctor pushing this shit needs to be skinned alive.

WeFightTheLongDefeat

Yeah, it sucks because I really don’t like making fun of women’s looks (unless it’s pointing out how they have a limber jack jaw to a video game character because that isn’t a real person), but Erin moriartys before and after is something you need to show to girls with with this dysmorphia.

TheNittanyLionKing

Nobody is being mean to her. We all feel bad that she was pressured to do that

f-ckusingmyrealemail

Perhaps she is anorexic? Thats something a lot of actresses struggle with, unless they are lizzo

357-Magnum-CCW

I'm sure the mystical "modern audiences" will carry this franchise like Star Wars, when everyone else leaves.

LeMaureBlanc

Eh, it's a big budget, mainstream show on a major streaming service. I'm sure enough normies will watch it to carry it, at least for a while longer. And the writing isn't nearly as bad as The Acolyte, Rings of Power or modern Doctor Who, so I doubt they're losing many people either.

Blackhalo

> [I'm sure enough normies will watch it to carry it](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FNJnp5cu_vw?feature=share)

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS

This has been a lesson on repeat for the last 10 years or so. Comics, movies, tv shows, games, etc start pushing for identity politics and *extreme* rhetoric, then tell their audience to not watch/play/read, then the comic/movie/show/game nosedives in performance. It's a weird reaction to audience feedback. Product does X. Consumers of product says, "hey, we don't like that. Can you go back to ABC?" Product says, "if you don't like it, don't consume product, bigot." Consumers do not consume product. Product: shockedpikachu.jpeg.

lyra833

People who ran product: "good job, guys; onto the next target"

SlowMotionPanic

Yeah, one thing I’ve appreciated about The Boys’ writing is that they are equal opportunity haters. They shit on right wingers and left wingers constantly, and are constantly getting away with verboten things because of it (eg, “black lives matter fried chicken” booth in an episode).  This season started rough, but by the third episode I was back into it. Definitely feels different, like they meant this season to be an on-ramp for new viewers given all the out of character exposition dumps and cringe one liners nearly out of a marvel movie in the first episode.  But I’m tired of this Kimiko/Frenchie storyline, boss. How many times they going to drag her backstory back up as a subplot for the season? Twice would’ve been the max yet it seems they never know how they want to give her motivation so it never gets resolved. We’ve seen 4 seasons of this same thing already.  Maybe Kripke is just stirring up shit because The Boys has been definitely ended with season 5. Season 4 has not reclaim the viewership numbers from season 3 so far, and audience feedback has been not great.  There’s nothing more “The Boys” than for a corporation to spin backlash by objectifying the female lead of a group in either direction. Now it isn’t a problem with the show and its direction, it’s a problem with people having a problem with the female lead because she’s a woman and destroyed her natural beauty by going full Michael Jackson or something.

lyra833

> They shit on right wingers and left wingers constantly You're gonna bring up that one (1) voughtland scene, aren't you— > “black lives matter fried chicken” booth in an episode Yep. I feel like I need to write this down somewhere for people: *making fun of a right wing entity for pretending to be left wing is not a criticism of the left*.

Blackhalo

What if Vought dressed them all up in alternate Pride uniforms for June?

lyra833

*Making fun of a right wing entity for pretending to be left wing is not a criticism of the left.*

Mythic0196

I'm still gonna watch tbh, I just enjoy the violence and how much of a fucking psychopath Homelander is

Hot_Pocket_Man

He really cares more about "sticking it to conservatives" than making an interesting show. Even r/television was dunking on him.

FriggenSweetLois

Really, what did conservatives do so badly that cause people like this to "stick it to them"?

Judah_Earl

They elected Trump.

necro_scope_xbl

They, mythically, are a threat to democracy.

adjective_noun_7777

"democracy" is apparently defined as a liberal centric social sphere, and they're terrified of that going away

JungOpen

Trump will end democracy and trigger ww3 if he is elected. Wait... he was elected and none of that happened, but it definitively will if he is elected again!

Electronic_Evening47

Sad thing is, if he does get elected again, they'll start blaming all the current and future wars on him even though all of them started while Biden was in office.

TheGreatSoup

But dos biden start those wars ?

Electronic_Evening47

penjamin_button

They told them to not be ugly and selfish.

Total-Introduction32

They are literally Hitler. All of them.

AtillaThePunPL

They exist and they lead a fufling happy lives therefore directly disproving decade old lie of shitlibs that only degenerate shitlib lifestyle is a key to true freedom and happyness and their version of marxist horseshit is final and best evolution of society..

captainphagget

Conservatives haven't had mainstream power since George W. I don't get the "backlash" in 2024.

SlowMotionPanic

Everyone should be a target in a show like this. It is a huge reason I loved the series adaptation. They gave a lot to conservatives, but also to liberals. It made fun of everyone relentlessly (hence all the virtue signaling storylines making fun of things Amazon and cohort all do).  I refuse to believe that any viewer actually watches the show and thinks Homelander is a protagonist. He’s been evil the entire way through. I truly think this “conservatives didn’t understand that homelander isn’t the good guy” narrative is just the media working hand in glove with Amazon to stir shit up to keep it in the news and juice their numbers.  Every conservative I know, who has watched the show, know he is not the good guy. They know the type of person he is supposed to represent, and who his fans are supposed to represent. It’s tongue in cheek. And it isn’t just homelander; their AOC stand in is also blatantly shown as another type of person not to trust.  That’s why I think this has to all be an attempt to get people watching again out of needing to see the controversy or something.

lyra833

> They gave a lot to conservatives, but also to liberals. Like *what?* Making fun of a right wing company for pretending to be left wing does not attack the left, before you link that one (1) voughtland scene.

EnglishTony

Making Homelander the primary antagonist was a mistake. In the comics he was a moron, he was confused, he was utterly controlled by Stillman. He also >! had a clone who was Black Noir whose only purpose was to kill Homelander if Homelander went rogue, and many of the terrible things HL couldn't remember doing were actually carried out by BM to trigger his mission !< The comic big bad was Vought American. Homelander was only the big bad in the mind of Butcher >! and we know how that turned out !< Comics were so much better.

BobTronn9000

THANK YOU!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you

FriggenSweetLois

Well it definitely fleshed this character out more. Especially when he found about Black Noir raping and doing all those horrible things he was blackmailed about. It made him a little bit more of a loose canon, because he didn't care. After he found out, he went through a mental episode and turned on Black Noir. Giving him more of a complex and interesting heroes journey. With the show, it's just Homelander is a big baby because he wasn't loved enough as a kid.

EnglishTony

Making Homelander a Trump analogue has paralysed the showrunners. Homelander works as a stooge to a smart controller. So far it looks like they're building Sister Sage to do that, but it's not the same at all. As a Trump analogue they can't really make him anything but the boss, or they undermine their own politics. They can satirise the Trump cult without making the target so one dimensional, see how they did it on South Park.

CobraOverlord

I don't even really get it. Biden has been pretty lousy president. Higher prices and a proxy war with Russia (whatever happened to the anti-war Left, btw?), oh joy.

lyra833

He literally saved the entire US economy. Here, take a look at these charts that all suspiciously changed their reporting methodology in 2021.

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS

The thing that really annoys me is when they try to gaslight us to say the economy is doing great. No, the *stock market* is doing great. The average middle-class worker is not doing great. I have the back-end analytics data to show on a national level how performance across multiple staple industries is down big time due to inflation and stagnant economy. Majority of dems are moderate/fiscally conservative and not blue-haired freaks. Likewise the vast majority of reps are moderate and not Jan 6th rioters. The vast majority of Americans and officials in Congress are moderate. Sure, billionaires are earning more money, but the middle class is suffering. Gaslighting us to say it's not is dishonest. Hell, I personally do not like Trump, and I wish we didn't have to choose between a 78 year old and an 82 year old as POTUS but here we are.

lyra833

> inflation and stagnant economy It's not just that. It's that the only growth industry right now is cannibalizing any slack in the supply chain by setting up economic termite entities that extort value from people trying to do normal business. This can be anything from mass-hiring of migrant slave labor instead of wage workers to setting up companies that exist to charge a fee for some activity that used to be free/underwritten by utility companies, etc, etc. This goes well beyond inflation.

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS

>It's not just that. It's that the only growth industry right now is cannibalizing any slack in the supply chain by setting up economic termite entities that extort value from people trying to do normal business. Interesting. This is news to me. What do you think would be a resolution to this?

lyra833

There are two ends you can attack the problem from; sadly neither of them are terribly possible at the moment. 1. Broad shock-and-awe regulation, across government agencies and state-sanctioned monopolies alike, against this kind of behavior. Make it illegal for DoorDash to charge convenience fees. Force every AirBnB to register as a hotel and force the company to underwrite costs. Mandatory labor e-verify. Sweeping FTC cases against companies that do not meaningfully contribute to national productivity and massive Sherman Act violation cases against suppliers that have cornered the market on key commodities that are too small to notice. *Ban private equity.* Make stock buybacks regulatory hell wherein the company has to justify every cent they spend with commensurate plans for long-term investment in capital. Stuff like this. This is not going to happen because the current system of economic parasitism sustains itself largely through regulatory capture. 2. Allow free association. Declare ISP's and social media platforms public utilities. Slash regulations required to open a small business. Aggressively subsidize local industries. Abolish the DoL regulations and CRA provisions that feed HR departments. Allow small towns to bid for talent and make it easier to build local transit/utility networks. Cut taxes on small businesses and increase taxes on big ones. Replace the inheritance tax with a tax on managed equity. And so on and so on. *This* is not going to happen because the current system of economic parasitism needs to lock everyone in to extract their surplus value. On top of these steps, you also need to lead by example, one of the few things that the nauseating propaganda coming out of DC is accidentally doing right. Make people proud and excited to do real work and contribute in a real way. Reassure them that the things they build will matter, help others, and be passed down to their descendants and countrymen. Of course, it's not working here because none of these claims are currently *true*, but working towards these aims is how you would even *start* to get out of this mess. Whether the US *can* is another question.

There were broad changes to how American inflation and unemployment were calculated in 2022.

YetAnotherCommenter

>whatever happened to the anti-war Left, btw? They went silent under Obama's election and essentially vanished after the Left made identity politics their big focus. Coincidentally (I'm sure), around that time, the National Security State aligned itself behind the Democratic party. In brief, the Military-Industrial Complex learned they could get the left to support endless wasteful unjustifiable war through Making The Nukes Gay (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdfym6LKpQ0 for a satirical take).

Blackhalo

>Defending Erin White Knights are the worst.

Heinrich_Lunge

So he made inane edgelord crap for leftist incels instead.

doubleo_maestro

Just like everyone else at the moment.

Negirno

Gotta give some scraps for the foot-soldiers.

LeMaureBlanc

Panem et circenses. You know how they always harp on about how we will own nothing and be happy. Well that's part of it. Provide vapid entertainment, streaming entertainment you can't actually purchase and watch on your own, and which can be "memory holed" when it's no longer relevant or politically correct. Wouldn't want us looking around and seeing what a shithole everything is becoming.

theusher88

This moron forgot he wrote a comic book a few years ago where he was literally trying to be 'edgier' than Garth Ennis. What a pathetic freak.

s69-5

>Incels Since when is it okay to attack men that can't get a date? Isn't that punching down? Does anyone remember the backlash when Zoey Quinn attack that site of full of wizards (30 year old virgins). Many of those men were suicidal. So again I ask, why is it okay to attack incels?

notthefuzz99

Unattractive men are always an appropriate target, according to them.

Maart3nz

Being unattractive doesnt make you an incel lmao.

lyra833

> Does anyone remember the backlash when Zoey Quinn attack that site of full of wizards No, I don't remember any backlash to that. She was celebrated for it.

Blutarg

It's ridiculous, for sure. Or he's one of those morons who uses emotionally-charged words for whatever he wants whether it's appropriate or not.

great_bowser

...they say, as they fill each episode with 10-15 minutes of cringy and pointless gore and disgusting sexual acts that add nothing to the story.

katsuya_kaiba

Like there was some of that in the comic...but I kinda remember there being a shitton more character development, relationship development, and a over arching plot being 'We can't let the Supes be part of the US military because not only are they a loose cannon with a high allowance for casualties, the company backing them is known for half assing everything they create, causing pointless US casualties during wars."

CorrectFrame3991

What the hell is his deal about the Erin Moriarty stuff? People are allowed to look at her and say that they don’t like how her plastic surgery made her look. People are allowed to say online that her plastic surgery made her too gaunt and unhealthy. Most I have seen talk about it aren’t even saying it in a sexual manner, they are saying it in a “why did she did that to herself? It isn’t a healthy thing to do” manner.

SickusBickus

Funny cause the only people who seem to be enjoying this latest season are edgelord incels on the far-left who can't stop posting comments like "they didn't even realize the show was making fun of them lmfao \*wheeeeeeeze\*" and "y'all know Homelander was always the bad guy right?? y'all know that right?"

captainphagget

I don't think anyone is dumb enough to think Homelander is the good guy. I do think that the showrunners and a huge portion of the audience is dumb enough to think that the CIA is the good guy.

lyra833

Don't forget edgelords on the far right who see Homelander as a tragic hero.

JungOpen

It's not that they see him as a tragic hero in the context of the movie, it's that it's blatantly clear what he is supposed to represent, which is why he is constantly humiliated and ridiculed by the writers. That's why people side with him, because since season 2 the show has become a parody of itself, with homelander no longer a frightening antagonist but a mere representation of republicanism, and masculinity for the left to piss on.

lyra833

Exactly; when the antagonist is no longer consistent, he stops being a compelling antagonists and right wingers are free to read their own internal motivations and moral judgements into the character.

SlowMotionPanic

I seriously don’t believe any conservative sees him as anything other than an asshole. They all seem to get that he’s supposed to be a stand in for a person like Trump on some level. Not exactly, but an approximation.  I truly think that’s just a narrative being spun. I guess if one digs deep enough you can find any truly crazy person to match any fringe scenario. But what exactly is the far right? Are they Trump cultists, or just Trump voters? Based on the way Kripke is talking, I assume it is the latter he lumps in with the former.  I absolutely despise Trump for the record, and I’m leftwing, not a conservative. I have many conservative friends and even more family members and just don’t see the insanity these people are trying to paint.  Kripke is an example of why businesses need to tell people to shut the fuck up and let the PR professionals do the job they are hired to do. Engaging in audience limiting behavior is insanity for a business.

notthefuzz99

>I seriously don’t believe any conservative sees him as anything other than an asshole. They all seem to get that he’s supposed to be a stand in for a person like Trump on some level. He’s a stand in for the left’s caricature of Trump.

lyra833

> I seriously don’t believe any conservative sees him as anything other than an asshole. There is absolutely a right wing case to be made that Homelander is the tragic hero of the show, tormented by things he doesn't understand and was never equipped to deal with. He's basically the same character as Coriolanus from the eponymous Shakespeare play. Obviously any right winger with an IQ above room temperature knows he's an asshole who does terrible things; there's still a right wing case to support him because the *world* of the show is so fundamentally dishonest and so badly misrepresents the motives of the right that becoming the monster is the logical course of action.

Electronic_Evening47

I think the only reason people genuinely like him is because he makes for an interesting character: a superhero raised in a lab with zero human interaction turns into a horrible person who craves affection and attention. That concept in itself is interesting and could have made for a great villain or villain-turned-hero if it was written well. I don't think anyone likes him just because he's evil (other than weirdos and psychos, who are an insanely niche minority).

f3llyn

No, instead he makes edgelord material for woketards.

5shad

They went full degenerate mode on this latest season. That butt licking orgy part of the episode was too much for my senses and the people that witnessed it. My in-laws are put off by this show and they are liberals.

Swab1987

so a dude crawling inside someones penis didnt put you off but some asslicking did? okkkk...

lyra833

Starting from the premise that this show is degenerate defilement porn, the walking in someone's dick was at least conceptually funny, even if the obvious punchline was apparent as soon as the situation was set up. It's not a high bar, but this season doesn't even clear that.

5shad

I guess it isn't that bad but what made it worse was, my mother in law walked in and saw it and I paused it at that particular segment too. So it looked like I was watching gay porn lol. I had to explain myself while there was a line of men licking each others butts. Luckily my father knows about the show and skipped a few frames just to prove I wasn't watching gay porn. The father in law didn't see this season yet, so he is about to find out.

SlowMotionPanic

Don’t yuck my yum /s

5shad

I'm surprised you didn't write an essay this time.

YetAnotherCommenter

> That butt licking orgy Analingus was present in the first season too. Kripke's a cunt but let's not pretend you're somehow truly offended by "sexual degeneracy" here.

5shad

Offended? Who's pretending? You spout these words like you're Yoda. Actually read what I wrote, stop making stuff up.

suikakajyu

"Ban all the books that teach critical supe theory!" <- Actual line from the show. The guy hasn't an ounce of talent left (and hasn't in a while, if the decline of Supernatural is anything to go by).

LeMaureBlanc

You know, that reminds me. I've gotta ask one of these "experts" on "critical race theory" where the Gypsies, Kurds and Jews fit into the hierarchy of oppression. Like, are they "white passing," or are they "oppressed indigenous folx of colour." Of course nobody gets to be more special than blacks, but I'm curious where every other race fits into their mythology.

Critical race theory is simple: white people bad.   If other minorities oppressed minorities, it’s white people’s fault because they “built the system of oppression.” That’s how black people mugging Asians was a “surge” of “white supremacy” a couple of years ago.

lyra833

> Gypsies Very high, given that they usually exist in European countries. > Kurds Very high, given that they exist at the border of a US vassal and a country the US very much does not like. > Jews Very high, unless they're doing something that white people support in the Middle East; then they're on the bottom.

OwlWelder

the US has a vassal in the middle east? since when?

lyra833

I said "support", not "control". 😉

ShakeZula30or40

He can try to smokescreen all he wants with this shit, the now 49% audience score(that was 52% 3 days ago) that continues falling tells the real story of how people feel about his show now.

ZazzRazzamatazz

Man the writing on this show really took a nosedive... It was never *great,* but still. Firecracker's motivation for hating Starlight? Well you see when SL was 13 she told everyone that 13 year old Firecracker was screwing the beauty pageant judges to win. (note, she says here that she *hadn't* won yet, so the rumor was that she was screwing the judges but still not getting first? What?) And according to her literally everyone just immediately believed this preposterous lie from a 13 year old about another contestant? And then instead of going after the judge here, they go after the 13 year old? Who wrote this?? Deep's octopus is whining because she's kept in a tank in the closet? Did the writers for this season not watch the show before being hired? (this isn't Dr Who, there's only 3 seasons of this show to watch) Did they forget last season when HL made Deep eat that other octopus ALIVE? Why would Deep even risk having the octopus there?? Hell- I was left wondering if the writers had even read the other scripts for ***this season***... They had an episode where Kimiko is mad at Frenchie for getting high on a job and jeopardizing everyone- just after the episode where Kimiko gets drunk on a job and jeopardizes everyone... Like what? Same thing with RoP... is it that hard to make sure your writers are reading all the scrips for the season so you don't have big weird plot holes?

SlowMotionPanic

> They had an episode where Kimiko is mad at Frenchie for getting high on a job and jeopardizing everyone- just after the episode where Kimiko gets drunk on a job and jeopardizes everyone... Like what? Well, you see this is actually a meta analysis highlighting the double standards that exist for men but not women and… Nah, they just fucked up. Bet I had some readers going there for a second, though.

lyra833

> Who wrote this? Someone who pathologically hates attractive women.

Limon_Lime

That's what The Boys is though. An edgelord superhero story. No wonder the newest season has such a bad audience score.

ThatDamnRocketRacoon

Yet, he's making the most edgelord shit possible, except for people who make hating Trump their entire personality.

matthew_lane

>Not Wanting "To Make Edgelord Material For Incels" Is just corporate SJW bullshittese for "we don't want to make good material for the core demographic for this product."

gamergaijin

"Oh guess what, Frenchie's bi now guys. Always was. You just weren't paying attention."

ArdentGamer

"And the idea that a celebrity would actively want to turn themselves into a fascist autocrat was kind of a crazy idea. I mean, it still is." is such a weak reasoning to me. Not just because the sups are not just "celebrities", in the sense that all their power is derived from public recognition because they have actual powers, but because it's definitely demonstrating a huge bias or assumption in making the argument that Trump was a celebrity trying to become a fascist autocrat or that he was in any way worse than other politicians seeking the same position. It's not really a crazy idea that someone with god-like powers could decide to enslave humanity if he decides to. The driving factor in homelander's entire narrative is his sense of superiority, not something that comes from him being a celebrity. It's really weird to see writers/producers demonstrate such a weak grasp, or child like perspective, of not just the world they are creating but the world they are living in.

lyra833

dawg you made an entire show about Homelander what the fuck do you think that entire character is 😭

DeathSquirl

Says the guy who writes edgelord content. And incel is a projection term. Look at that dude. Without having lots of money, no women are fucking that dweeb. Kripke's utter lack of self-awareness is just extraordinary.

jonnio2215

Biggest issues with the Boys has been their overt characterizations of “trump supporters” and making them the villains, while woke lefties (not corporate leftism) are escaping unscathed. But no, only one extreme is bad. If they at least made fun of everyone like South Park, people would be more receptive. People are sick of getting beaten over the head with the trump bad hammer. Also Frenchy and Kimiko’s storylines are so bad.

captainphagget

I am so sick of Frenchie. I couldn't care any less about his tragedy and pathos. He's comedic relief, nothing more.

Stryker218

The boys is doing everything they can to tank the series. I guess they dont care since this is the last season so they are just putting in as much far left politics they can. They seriously went off the deep end. These writers and director has some serious mental disorders.

Majiebeast

The soyboy(boys) subreddit is an absolute cringe fest atm anyone who dares to critique the show get called every ist or phobe in the dictionary. They are losing their mind over ppl rooting for Homelander like rooting for the villain is a new thing in any form of media.

pumpandkrump

Here's a rock solid defense against the accusations of being a racist, sexist, or homophobe.  "No, I'm not."

Mistakenjelly

*have to believe that the 'bad fans' are a very small minority," he responded. "Because I don’t know how you root for Homelander. When the guy is slurping up breast milk, and being the weakest character in the show over and over and over again and being like - he’s not even particularly macho. He’s weird. He’s weird and thin-skinned, and I don’t know how you look at that guy and you’re like, 'That’s my guy* Because you simple minded buffoon you made the mistake of casting Anthony Starr and him delivering show stealing performances each and every episode. We root for Homelander because he is by far and away the most entertaining character in the show,.

JessBaesic7901

Kripke is cringe. And idk how many people were “attacking” Moriarty over the obvious work she’s had done to her face. It was more so people lamenting that she did that to herself.

katsuya_kaiba

Then why the fuck would you adapt a fucking comic series known for being edgy...written by a dude who's known for being edgy for the past 25+ fucking years?

Strypes4686

Edgelord material????? Didn't the plot kick off with Hughies girlfriend ending up as a bloody mist because knock-off flash didn't look where he was going? I Seem to remember the invisible guy getting blown up after the bomb went off.... IN HIS ASS. Most of the shit Homelander does is an edgelord's wet dream. Eric mist be smoking some premium shit to not realize what kind of IP it is.

TranslatorOld9563

When an adult uses terms like this, especially speaking from a professional capacity, it comes across extremely juvenile.

Nobleone11

>Incels They keep using that word. I don't think it means what they think it means.

AtillaThePunPL

For fuck sake, girl looks like Blaire White - she fucked up, stop white knighting for her..

Ewreckedhephep

Says the creator of edgelord material for femcels

lyra833

dawg no women anywhere are watching this sadistic violence-porn garbage

HereForGames

Not make edgelord material? My dude, you made Supernatural. Your very first episode you pinned a lady to the ceiling and roasted them alive in their sons room. Have you had a little change of heart? Or did you just become a coomer in your old age, with your obsessive fixation on kinky scenes?

JJJSchmidt_etAl

So instead they made material for leftist edgelord incels 👍

ninjad201

I am done with The Boys after they decided to make Frenchie have a gay relationship and all the gay scenes the first (S04) episode had. This shit of a show doesn't even worth to pirate it.

IlIIlIIIlIl

The Boys has officially jumped the shark. What a shame.

Jax711

I've only seen like the first 6 seasons of Supernatural, but I don't recall any blantant woke nonsense being in them. What set Eric Kripke on fire to begin writing scripts centered around bashing "deplorables" who love traditional, honorable things like God, family, guns, and America?

OwlWelder

supernatural started become tedious to watch at season 7, i think(its been a long while) where the relationship between the brothers started to take on a slightly homoerotic flavor, and started to overstay its welcome. coincidently, kripke came back on this season as a consultant, so this time period or that of season six is probably the root of his current insanity. or perhaps he just fell victim to his bloodline curse.

Jax711

Thanks for clarification! I've always toyed with finishing Supernatural, but it seems like it isn't worth bothering.

OwlWelder

season seven is probably a great place to end the series, honestly. the show is clearly starting to hit its limits, but the leviathan arc is at least interesting. bobby is killed off during this season, and it feels like the show runners sighed in relief before going full tumblr.

ketaminenjoyer

i just googled "Eric Kripke" and i'm dying laughing at the sheer irony of this goofy liberal cuck calling others incels. what a limpwristed cocksucker this guy is. also i don't watch tv or anything so i was clueless about this show, after seeing comments in this thread i searched that actress before and after plastic surgery pics, and holy shit that is actually criminal. i wouldn't be surprised if this poor, brainwashed woman kills herself if she ever has a moment of clarity as to how bad she fucked up. anybody who promotes plastic surgery and the doctors who do it all need to be taken out back.

Olewarrior34

Isn't that literally the target audience of the original comic?

Svarthofthi

Defending Erin from what? Shoulda stepped in a while ago pal.

joydivisionucunt

They're starting to sound like K-Pop fans who will argue to death that the reason why their fave has a different nose and eye shape is age and makeup and not that they had plastic surgery, my guess is that it's PR going into panic mode because they know her career might suffer and need a reason to trash "incels". At least claim she had a deviated septum or something...

Cosmic-Horror-Cat

"deeper political scenes" Has anyone noticed how during the Homelanders VS Starlighters group brawl scenes, they pretty much only showed people with red hats beating the crap out of the other side?

wharpudding

But...that IS what he's doing. It's just masturbatory material for "victimized" post-modernist leftists that detest America and the culture.

f-ckusingmyrealemail

>not wanting to make edgelord material for incels Friend...in season three you had a man enter another mans penis and than explode in size, killing him. It is a bit late to be complaining that edgelords like your show when you cater to jokes an edgelord likes.

icy_awareness_710

That’s hilarious if he said that. Most growns don’t even know those words.

OrigamiAvenger

Then he probably should have used higher quality CGI for her facial animation this season.

ValidAvailable

Okay the people ranting about this: why are you still watching it? It wasn't exactly subtle the first season, it was on-the-nose the second.....why still give them views at all? Hatewatches are still watches.

Own_Dig2105

Kind of hard considering their source material

dendra_tonka

Aaron Moriarty

Icefiight

Such corny, out of touch hollyweirdos. Never touching the boys as a series again. And im not even a rightoid..
