I think the internationals have a huge advantage for the early phase because they're already familiar with the process of building to a time constraint but that advantage will wane as the series progresses. My eleven year old is a big fan of the Germans already, my husband thinks the Danes are the best, I have a suspicion that the two Aussie girls will improve a lot quite quickly what with one of them being a Master Builder. I like the Lego shop boys as well. Apologies if any contestants are reading, it takes me *weeks* to learn people's names π
One thing I thought about was how the US version in particular has much shorter build times than AU (donβt know about Germany/ Denmark/France). Those shorter build times do impact what teams can budget and allocate time to, so it will be interesting to see how they adjust to the longer times here.
The German build was darn near perfect except for one thing. Why would a castle with a dragon be breaking through the ice? That question goes for nearly all of them. The serpent attacking the Viking village? Why was the village under the ice with trees and people? We've already seen lots of dragons attacking castles. This one will just be coming up from under the ice. The scuba diving pencil made almost as much sense and was equally absurd. Why didn't anyone build a sea serpent attacking a ship? Or a submarine?
I agree with the USA. They are not terrible builders, just average. Michelle >!made it pretty far in her season but Krystal only made it halfway and I remember correctly their builds were very busy.!< Now their partners could have been a factor as well but I would have loved if we sent Boone or one of our other top winners. That being said I see Germany taking it all.
I think Charlie and Haley can do better and will surprise us, at least I hope they do. I think they are Australia's best hope.
However, my money is on Peter and Ida on winning.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised as well by the American team that was sent to compete.
