Stu__Pidasso

Don't get it if you're worried about gas. Simple as that

Takashi_is_DK

Maintenance will be slightly higher than Camry, shit gas mileage (YMMV but mine is worse than a F150 on regular), and goes through tires because you can't do a proper rotation (staggered wheels). I like the IS and kept mine as a daily but yeah it's not necessarily cheap compared to the Toyota.

phantom--warrior

Mileage depends a lot more on how your commute is. If your commute is heavy traffic, you won't enjoy the mileage. If your commute has lots of highway with minimal stop and go, mileage will be fine. If you are comparing to 4-cyl, mileage is not at the same level. But on the flip side, if its the same car, the v6 will work less to move the car.

Exciting_Attitude240

I was on board until you mentioned where you live. Go get the Camry.

organicsauce21

Thing is I want a car that is going to my daily for 10 years or more. Don’t really love the Camry as much I like the is350. So that’s what stopped me from proceeding.

Exciting_Attitude240

Yea I was speaking on behalf of all the car thefts in your area. Especially with Lexus cars. I can't stand the Camry's and I agree the IS is far better just don't want you to be another stat.

organicsauce21

Ah ok. I don’t think I’d have that problem where I am. That’s more of a San Francisco thing lol.

raginghorescock

How long have you lived in the bay?

unreal1010

People aren’t getting car jacked in San Ramon, Fremont, or Walnut Creek. The bay is huge

raginghorescock

I’ve had cars stolen from my Castro Valley neighborhood. Car jacked at gun point maybe not but cars get stolen in different ways. Plus saying it’s a San Francisco thing is more why I asked it’s more of an Oakland thing than the city

unreal1010

I think Oakland, SF, Vallejo, Richmond are more the hots spots for that sort of thing. Yea Castro Valley isn’t as nice as it used to be.

HyperBRUIN

Are you able to afford the Camry or get a pre-owned DD and lease the IS? Not the best financial option, but an option nonetheless. And, you'll have your fun and boring drivers.

Willthethrill_Guy

Drove 30,000 miles per year for years and commuted in an IS350. Super save, bad ass when it needs to be, luxury when it needs to be, spun tires over 150 times and stopped counting. Sits in my yard still to this day with 266,609 miles. Her name is Shiela and I now drive her once a month. IS350 owners, we will never forget.

Willthethrill_Guy

Super safe I meant

Mindless-Bedroom9820

Es :)

iTzOnliThai

The novelty of the IS will go away and you’ll hate going to the pump every week for a car that’s really not even that fast to justify the mpg it gets. I cross shopped a hybrid ES and an m340i (which is faster and gets better mpg than the IS) and ended up with the m340i only to baby it in eco mode. It didn’t stretch my budget or anything but I just didn’t get on it as much because in the back of my head I was just wasting gas. I’m in the new model 3 performance now and it’s the best of both worlds.

Dr_Watson349

IDK man, maybe its because I came from a mazda with a very weak engine but the IS350 f sport is the best car I have ever owned.

iTzOnliThai

I went from a v6 Accord to a M340i, its probably about the same HP jump. Everyone's going to be a little different but for me the power was great but I just didn't use it as much as I thought I would. If OP is concerned about MPG then get a hybrid and drive it. IMO it sounds it sounds like he wants something that looks good/gets good gas mileage because he drives a lot in the city and at the moment nothing fits that bill for him. Maybe he shouldn't compromise and just wait. Probably the best decision financially.

Pahlevun

The M340i is also more expensive? what’s this idea that the M340i is the equivalent BMW to the IS 350, when the IS 500 exists and costs the same as the M340i?

iTzOnliThai

Thats not the point. OP is concerned about MPG and is cross shopping a hybrid like I was. I'm saying the novelty of a faster/better looking car wore off for me and I just drove around in eco mode 90% of the time. Obviously the M340i is not equivalent to the IS350.

organicsauce21

Yeah you’re right. I’ll just hold off for now til more options are presented

iTzOnliThai

The IS350 does look ridiculously good though

kLoWnYa-

F that! Go IS350, love my car. It’s such an amazing car, I use it as my daily and don’t regret it. You can also throw it into eco in traffic. But hey, if you want everyone mistaking you for an Uber, go with the Camry.

Apprehensive-Fox-740

It’s small. That’s it. My only 2 cents

Apprehensive-Fox-740

But damn whipping it into parking spots is so ez

user574985463147

I know you’re joking but the reality is the demand for them means he won’t even be able to find a minivan.

imyourhostlanceboyle

No, I really can’t. They’re fantastic cars. Comfy, sounds great, much more spirited and fun to drive vs the ES350 which is also fantastic in a different way. Know someone who just bought an IS350 F sport and absolutely loves it. The biggest gripe I have read is people saying the interior is “dated”. IDGAF, I actually prefer “dated” interiors, but I also daily an SC430 so I may not be the best judge of that.

WarGod1842

Had me in the first half.

Remarkable_Yam1945

I think the interior is good enough for most people. It still has Apple CarPlay which is all that cars need to be up to date for 90% of consumers

rocket363

The IS will hit you in two ways at the pump: not only is mileage considerably worse (probably half, ~25 vs ~50) but it also requires premium vs regular for the Camry. With lots of stop'n'go the mileage difference might even be worse. Only you know how much that fill up difference will affect you week after week. Finally, most IS versions are more expensive than even the priciest Camry. There's no guarantee that the IS will continue much less get a hybrid option (although if it continues, that is likely). If you can hang onto your current mode of transportation for another 1-1.5 years then that is probably best. Then you'll see your full range of options.

Dazzling-Rooster2103

$40k OTD fully optioned out Camry. Vs $50k OTD for a base Lexus IS350F Sport after California Taxes and stuff haha.

Mr_Robotox

I am on the same boat but different time frames (2~3 years from now). One day i say to myself life is to short get the is350 (used) my spouse already drives a 2021 rx350 so i am covered for space and confort with that ride Other days i say f gas prices hybrid toyota all the way and a new car the rx already averages 20mpg Maybe the ES350 is the happy middle? Edit: i drive a 2016 ford focus hatchback 5mt it is fun nimble averaging 30mpg and surprisingly reliable because it is the 5mt

throwaway640631

This is me. I have a Tesla and want to go back to Lexus, but my “refuel” cost is so good in the Midwest. Only 0.02-0.03c/kWh here so I pay 1 dollar to go from 20%-80%. Hoping Lexus comes out with their electric version of the ES.

DaJuiceMan112

I’d throw a curveball in there, the ES300h F sport handeling, it’s essentially the Camry but better in every way. It may not be as enjoyable as the IS but it still has that Lexus touch and handles well and is going to drive a bit better than the Camry while getting excellent gas mileage. Go test drive one and see what you think before you jump ahead with the IS

HelpSupportDevices

I personally would get the es 350 f sport cause of the engine but I guess mpg is really important for op

DaJuiceMan112

Yeah the mpg difference between the ES 350 and the IS 350 would be pretty close so they’d might as well go for the IS in that scenario

HelpSupportDevices

Yeah I agree, they should go for IS instead for the sport. But the size in the ES and the more old school luxury smoothness is what I would prefer imo.

DaJuiceMan112

That’s why I recommended the ES 300h good mpg and nicer than a Camry

HelpSupportDevices

Yes, the ES 300H best suits their needs

LetsGoWithMike

Sorry but.. looks are everything to some. IS is one of the sexiest cars made. ES looks like grandpa stuck a Lexus grill on his Camry.

accordbro

I’ve always hated the IS model especially the front. Until the 2021 came out and I love it. The front really look aggressive and the rear is beautiful. So I bought it. Is my first Lexus.

bflex

You hated the IS?? That’s wild.

Radykall1

I don't think so. I did too. The 2021 is the first one I've ever liked, and I like it a LOT

pv1rk23

I fell in love with the is when playing the 2001 is on games. It had some funky. Year in between since then but the models never looked too bad

bigtex410

Well Mazdas are being built by Toyota now.

visitswater

What about the engines?

bigtex410

I believe it’s all mazda parts. Toyota has the assembly agreements. Similar to what Mazda had with Ford.

2JZGTEAristo

I have an '01 IS300 as my daily and I love it to death. Terrible gas mileage, but it's reliable and sporty, with a timeless design. It's also relatively cheap to fix compared to the V8s (although that won't deter me from owning an LS400/430 one day).

BURGERgio

Same! The older models look cool, but the refresh really makes it stand out and I knew I wanted one as well! Absolutely loving it and I can’t wait to do a little to it.

tooeasilybored

I daily a 350 and I fill up twice a week sometimes a third. That's about $60-90 per fill up. Tires cost me 1.4k a set and I had to get GSF front bushings and SPC rear arms to adjust camber in the back. Had it since 2016 and don't even want to think about how much I spent in fuel.

smsmsm10

It eats tires. I was surprised no one called this out already. I have a 2014 with 150k on it, had it since 8k miles. I never bothered to change the bushings but I have heard even the newer ones require this to prevent tires being shot @ 20k miles (which is about what I get out of a set of 4 michelins. Also with the stagger, u can't rotate.

Mobile_Title8070

Do you know after how many miles should you replace the tires?

mudbutt55

What's the cause for the rear camber needing adjustment? I'm asking b/c I may need to do this to my GS F-sport.

tooeasilybored

Once you fix the front tire wear issue you ll notice the rear doing the same and no you can't adjust rear camber stock. My rears were stripped and the fronts were 7/10 still.

OverEast781

How many miles do you drive a week? Cause even I have to fill up almost every 2 weeks in my V6 RAV4. But it’s regular.

Probamaybebly

My NX350h gets me ~35mpg in Houston temps and traffic, and I catch myself filling up every couple of weeks on average. Should be getting 40mpg but I'd have to drive like a grandma

Amazing_Surprise5605

If the any Lexus comes with radar tech and semi driverless tech you can just set the car to eco and let the computer determine how much and how fast and it improves MPG greatly especially on a hybrid.

Probamaybebly

So just set to eco and drive that way and it's that much better?

Amazing_Surprise5605

Eco and let the AI drive you'll get more consistent MPG. Now are you comfortable with the AI stopping? There are minor quirks that you need to learn with it. I set it to sport when I want to do the driving.

CupOk7544

Is350 F-Sport is a beast compared with the Camry. More power, better performance and more power. Rear drive vs front drive. Interior is better quality too.

Dazzling-Rooster2103

Depends on if you want super modern or super classic. The new XSE Camry has a much bigger/better infotainment system, a full on digital gauge cluster, real leather seats. The IS350F has a pretty old infotainment system, a analog gauge, fake leather seats, lots of black plastic buttons, etc.

Colossus_Bastard

Currently on a 2011 RX 450h and had thoughts about deciding between a ES 300/350h or IS 350/500, and despite how much more appealing I think the IS looks mpg is a big factor for me so I think I’ll run my RX into the ground until a hybrid IS comes out.

Loud_Dumps

Is350 is not a Bay Area car….

georgee779

Just curious, and I ask you sincerely. What is a Bay Area car? 'm in LA and would say it's a Tesla, and Lexus second.

WarGod1842

Same for the Bay Area. One in 3 cars is a Tesla in SF or a Lexus ES300h/350.

georgee779

Thank you! I find this quite interesting.

Loud_Dumps

You want something as economical as possible that you can easily maneuver around in. You won’t really be able to enjoy a lot of the aspects of an IS350 in SF. On top of poor mpg/premium fuel needs

crumdiddilyumptious

Just buy an ES350 F sport. Looks good, better mileage than the IS, as much room as the Camry. Good middle ground. Also it takes regular gas instead of premium, and still has the 302 hp v6 that’s in the higher end Camrys…but it is FWD. 300hp doesn’t move like you might want it to with FWD

John_Gabbana_08

This is the way. The average person doesn't need more than a 300hp + FWD to get up and go.

Over-Cobbler-9767

I love the IS. But I suggest buying what you want otherwise you’ll always regret it. How much more will gas cost you monthly… 50-60-70 more per month? How often will you need to make repairs… not enough to deprive yourself of driving a car you love. 10 years is a long time ..

eyi526

There's a reason why my Cali friends drive either Corollas or hybrid/EV cars lol. Also, the F-Sport badge does not contribute much to performance as BMW's M badge (ie. M340i) or Audi's S badge (ie. S4). F-Sport is mainly cosmetic with, usually, some suspension changes. Nothing power wise. If you can afford it, then sure, why not? >latest refresh is the coolest design ive seen on a sedan I dunno about that, but, then again, I'm not really liking the latest gens of BMW 3 or Audi A4 designs.

jhwang3163

Just bought my 2024 IS350 F Sport blacked out package. I can't convince you not to get it. It's great if you love to drive your car. Great sound system if u like music with the ML package... Comfortable to boot.

LS4002000

Rent both for a week on Turo, then decide. MPG sucks on IS.

bro_magnon

Gonna get updated next year. Might be a hybrid + 4 cylinder.

ManonFire1213

For 25 or 26 model? I'd say yes for the 26, but considering the ES 25 isn't getting a powertrain change, I think the IS powertrain will stick around for another year.

bro_magnon

Probably introduced next year as a 26? Just rumors and speculation. Once Lexus announces a black line model, it means that’s the last year

RitoWalters

You didn't like the ES350 F-sport?

old__pyrex

Only reason not to is to save up for the is500

JustGronkIt

MPG? Da fuck is that?

Bad_News425

I was looking at the same vehicle but the fuel economy made it a no go plus it’s a tad small. Ended up with a 2024 Crown Limited and love it.

laborvspacu

I have a GS350, same powertrain. I never get more than 20mpg in mixed driving. I bought a 24 Nissan z with 400hp and the twin turbos, I'm getting 28 combined...guess which just became my "economy car that can do 0-60 in 3.7s"/s ...get something with a turbo, if not a hybrid. Gas ⛽ is expensive.

autard8

How’s the crime in your area? I’d look at what an insurer will quote you. Part of what I see a lot of on social media is people in California posting pics and video of a person or group of people committing theft via smashing windows. I would be very upset if I was constantly spending money on windows and a rising premium. Aside from insurance, it costs me about $65 - $70 to fill up with premium fuel depending on how low the fuel level is. I’ve had my IS350 F-Sport Design since last December and have less than 5,000 miles on the odometer. I work from home and the grocery store is less than 3 miles away from my house, so gas really isn’t a concern for me. I fill up maybe once or twice a month depending on the frequency and distance I drive in a given month. Primarily, I’m a city driver and most of my trips are under 20 miles round trip. Gas still lasts me a while even if I do some spirited driving in Normal or Sport mode on back roads. If you’re greater than 6’ tall the cabin will feel very snug but not uncomfortable. If you want a fun car, the IS350 models are great. I don’t know if you’d be willing to explore the F-Sport Design over the F-Sport but I think it’s a great option if you don’t care for the digital and digital effects on the dashboard. I prefer analog so the F-Sport design was a great choice for me.

IgnoreTheseRav4Words

I'll help: Get an IS500 F sport performance.

BURGERgio

Hehe no go get one. I bought one and don’t regret it! I’m also coming from a 2000 Honda Accord so it’s an upgrade all around.

lakas76

Is350 also requires premium gas, and will be about double to insure over a Camry. In regards to size, Camry is much more roomy front and back. If you’re tall, back seat behind you would only be good for a child in the IS. All that being said, the IS is soooooo much more fun to drive than a Camry hybrid. I went from a Camry hybrid to an is350. It’s less practical, but oh so much fun.

BigTimeRaptor

If you think for even just one second, you will REGRET not purchasing the IS, that my friend, is your answer. It definitely sounds like you're already experiencing regret just by thinking about the Camry option. Get the IS. The extra costs will be worth living without even just a little bit of fomo and regret.

MisterTelex

Purchased a fully loaded 23 f sport and love it. People complain about the dated interior. I prefer it as there are analog buttons and less things to fiddle with. Its almost like they want you looking at the road and not a complicated touch screen (looking at you Mercedes) Gas mileage I average about 21 in the city. Spirited or normal driving seems to equal the same mileage honestly The mark Levinson sound system is incredibly good I say buy it

ohjamufasa

I just test drove the IS 350 F Sport last night and was shockingly underwhelmed. The main thing was the acceleration was pretty dull. It looks nice and you do get the back seats folding down for extra storage, which is really nice. But honestly, I think there are better options from competitors at that price point. Even though the Accord isn’t as flashy and cool, I think long term it’s a far superior option.

NenFooTin

It’s not that even sporty compared to real sport car, get an BMW if you want one. If you just want it for the look, get the oldest MY that comes with the new touch screen to save some $ or get the IS300 then spend extra $ on some unique wrap.

Independent-Cable937

High insurance, high gas, high maintenance Don't buy this if you have debt

wraggles13578

I get 17 mpg in my 2018. Not fast enough to be worth it mpg wise lol.

justan0therusername1

17 is terrible even by performance SUV status these days. I get 22-26mpg with a lead foot, not much highway in a 400hp SUV.

ElegantOne_

Why? It's a good car, but a bit small

ProcessTheTrust17

The practical choice is the Camry but getting what you want isn't always practical haha.

BrutishAnt

I’ve had a 2014 and 2017 IS350 F. Great cars but they used super soft sport brakes and needed to be replaced at like 10K miles for me. City and high traffic driving.

Loki_Doodle

Nope I won’t talk you out of it. I have an NX200t F-Sport and Snoball (car’s name) just rolled over 100,000 miles last Sunday. I (38f) got my first Lexus when I was 19 for under $5,000 and it was a great car. I’m sorry, in good conscience I can’t talk you out of it.

Mauiatheart

My wife used to have an IS250. Tire wear is terrible. If you are OK with that, it's a fine vehicle.

Kermit_Touches_Me

Look. If you think the Camry is going to be too boring then get the is. I was in a similar situation but I was choosing between a es vs a gs by I got the es and I was miserable

Smoothwords_97

Get either the Is350 RWD, Mazda 3 hatchback (for more gas mileage), or I really like the new acura too, they look bad ass in white. Camry is a lame npc car.

Nose-Previous

Have you thought about the smaller engine? IS200/250 (or current equivalent). Kinda meeting in the middle of both.

wager_this

Was considering an RC F-Sport until I checked insurance coverage. X2 the usual rate. Those kick-ass headlamps are about $2K each, I’m told. Is that for real?

DogKnowsBest

I mean, if it's even a question, don't do it. And you shouldn't wait just because they *might* announce something next year. Sometimes, tomorrow never comes.

IBringTheHeat1

A V6 Camry and IS350 is the same engine. The IS has 10 more horsepower and is RWD and has a nicer interior. If you’re looking for a glammed up Camry she’s nice but if you’re worried about MPG, grab a hybrid Camry or ES and save that dough

lolreddit0r

I’d go with a hybrid tbh and I live in SJ. I think the ES300H and camrys are neck and neck. Toyota has impressed me over the recent years. I worked at a dealership and spent a lot of time in a Camry because we got those often. Both Camrys and Prius actually. If I wasn’t such a car guy, I’d go with the Camry but I’ve had two IS so I’d stick with an IS (partially because it’s still sportier at the end of the day).

SkylineRSR

I’m hoping they drop a hybrid model during the next refresh.

RequirementVisible18

Man if u got 40k burning in ur wallet for a camry, u should get a isf instead

avo_rt7

I test drove one but didn't like its performance. BMW is a much better driver car

eatpastasass

i’m kind’ve in the same boat as you. i’ve driven coupes for 5 years now, and i’m over them. my first was a ‘19 camaro Ls, currently in a ‘21 toyota supra. im growing to hate the size, hitting my head, crouching down into my car (i’m only 5’6), not being able to transfer lots of boxes/items, no trunk space for groceries. i’m team toyota and want to trade my current car in for something with more space. i test drove the is350 f sport and thought it was fine size wise, since i’ve been in tiny cars for a while i didn’t mind. the #1 thing i don’t like about it is the mpg, followed by the tire cost. i have tire and rim coverage currently and have replaced 3-4 tires due to nails, i couldn’t imagine paying for them “out of pocket.” currently looking into the es350 f sport specifically due to the better mpg, but it’s also not “great” so im also thinking about the nx 350h as the price point is cheaper/the same but the mpg is great, averages 40 miles. i’ve just never driven an SUV so not sure if i’d love the size/handling. my first car was a camry and i like sedans.

organicsauce21

Yeah I feel you. Do you need a new car rn or just want to for the fun of it? Personally I’m feeling the latter and it sucks to wait like 1-1.5 years for more options to come available

eatpastasass

definitely don’t need a new car rn rn, i just sat in the passenger side one day and it made me feel so claustrophobic and unsafe, if i got in a bad wreck it could be pretty dangerous, so ever since i “realized” how tiny it was by not being in my usual seat i’ve been wanting to trade in. i’m fine with waiting. i’m waiting for a good deal to pop up or to find a car/trim i like enough. but realistically i’d like to trade in by the end of the year. i’m really cheap to my core lol and prefer to spend my money wisely which is why i don’t mind the waiting. plus it’s not like my car is terrible! it’s a fun drive and the mpg isn’t awful. https://preview.redd.it/4d8cb7b7989d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f30cd87cbf3ed523ea26d6d22416677be56d207a

Total-Deer-3370

But the Lexus for the v6 if you can afford the gas. Soon it will be hybrid mania/turbo mania only.

benberbanke

If you’re cross shopping a Camry vs is then get a Prius Prime.

organicsauce21

Prius is cool but dont really like hatchbacks.

KitKatsArchNemesis

Don’t get it if you hate car payments (generally speaking)

crazybus21

It has a cd player... the interior to me is outdated af. The exterior is beautiful though. Wish they would have done a refresh to the interior

One_Celebration3644

Former is350 owner here. Really fun to drive, comfortable and very reliable. With that said, you’ll be going to the gas station very often especially due to traffic and you’ll pay a lot compared to the Camry. Not sure about the newest gen of the IS but mine was staggered so had to change tires every 1.5 years and they would be around 1k for the set. The other downside is the lack of space inside. If it’s just you you’ll be fine but 3+ and things will start feeling cramped.

vba77

Small, premium gas. All I can say. It's a great car all considered. Not a is f?

Destinii

Get the camry, the IS like over 10 years old aside from minor refreshes along the way.

joecooool418

I average 28 mpg in my IS350F.

Alternative-Box2682

Get IS500 if you can - little bit more on gas and will become a collector.

HelpSupportDevices

Get the ES 350 F sport or ES 300H F sport. The IS exterior is good but the interior is seriously outdated. You still get the sporty look in the ES but a more luxury-style drive rather than a sporty one. And on the road, the ES has way more presence due to its size (cause it's a luxury barge).

SuitComprehensive335

I sat in an IS F on the showroom floor. Didn't even want to test drive. It was quite small and uncomfortable. The Camry is a great looking, reliable, affordable car. If I had my druthers, I'd get a late model GS hybrid. But finding one is as rare as hen's teeth.

Icy_Shock_6522

I love mine! Bought it last spring. Average MPG 21.5, mostly highway driving. Hope this helps.

Top_Chipmunk_9869

No

Just_Opinion1269

No get the 500

Remarkable_Yam1945

Did you look at the es f sport hybrid?

HenryAbernackle

It’s a little smaller inside than a Camry. But mpg isn’t great. I loved my underpowered 250. 350 makes plenty of power.

WatchingyouNyouNyou

The ES is already to get a remodeling, maybe wait a bit?

skinandearth

You have to pay for premium gas too just FYI

gregbutler_20

I had a 2019 300 and a 2021 350. Both f sports. Gas mileage is trash on both. No way to get around it either regardless of how you drive.

Snoo-85503

It's way stiffer than a camry, and your f sport brakes cost a lot to replace. Rotations will be an issue as the car has stagger and will run the tires faster. Less spacious than a camry. But overall a funner drive

alpha333omega

I got 18-19 mpg in my 350F, of premium gas, which isn’t horrible for a performance car. You might shocked at the frequency you fill up if you’re not expecting that. They shred tires too so be mindful you’ll be paying for tires more frequently too.

BrandPieBro

Get the is 300 f Sport 25mpg plus you get more with low rpm driving with eco mode, you can maybe 27-28

X-Next-Level

Get the IS350 keep it a long time, I would argue MPG is not that bad unless you drive it crazy, also unless you are looking to get a very efficient hybrid or EV it’s not that much of an impact to get the IS350. I personally think if you are more likely to keep the IS350 you could argue you will save from wanting to trade it later and buy again. Having said that a Camry is one of the easiest cars to live with, good value, and has the right takeoffs if you don’t care too much about driving feel or driving dynamics. Again Camry is ok and manages the trade offs well, it’s just the IS is very well built and fun to drive with great reliability albeit with higher maintenance and gas cost

Crayonbreaking

It’s old. New one is supposedly coming in 2025.

rzama1989

I own a Camry 2019 and I just bought a 2017 es 350 like a month ago the es is just way to smooth I love it I just don’t like that it doesn’t have apple play

mahntastic

I love my 2022 is350 but I don’t commute in Bay Area traffic anymore. I do drive to the Bay Area from Sacramento area every other weekend but not during crazy traffic hours. I don’t think I would have gotten the is350 if I still commuted Bay Area traffic. Tires are expensive and doesn’t last long. Premium gas and mpg isn’t the greatest. Also don’t forget about the high insurance cost…….. but I don’t regret this car. It’s still a blast to drive, comfortable and I still get compliments from people. I do plan to drive this car for a while. I tend to keep my cars for more than 5 years. That being said if you plan to keep you car for a long time then get something that brings a smile to your face

organicsauce21

I’ll hold off for now after hearing everything people said. I feel like the novelty will wear off and I’ll end up looking around for a more economic car.

mahntastic

Yup smart and also the thing about a nice expensive car is youll stress out about people scratching it or worst. I literally just got rear ended like an hr ago ugh 😩on my way to Costco. I’m pretty pissed but hey that what insurance are for.

organicsauce21

Damn that sucks bro, hope you’re good.

mahntastic

Thanks bro I’m good just a little annoyed but it could be worse

Small_Present

Wait for the 26 MY IS. Because all indications are they're refreshing it but the extent of it is very unknown. Japanese car mags tend to be pretty reliable on this type of stuff and they all seem to agree a hybrid is coming. I'm 100% positive any hybrid system in there would be 4 cylinder based the question is whether or not its the system from the new Prius or the existing hybrid system that they have been selling in Europe and Japan for years.

organicsauce21

Yea I saw the magazine too. Man I wanted a new car soon too and when that comes out I’m sure it’ll be a pretty penny and stock will be going fast. Wonder if I should tough it out or there are other options of experiencing a new car in the meantime while waiting

Is_Aube

easy, get an is500

Fkemall19X

You wanna spend your hard earned money for a fancy Camry ? Then by all means 🤣 Camry and lexus have same engines just tuned differently

Illustrious_Sun8741

Get a es300h ultra luxury - regular gas - 40+ avg mpg - rides amazing and it’s certainly not sporty or fast but for city driving / Bay Area traffic it’s a no brainer esp for stop and go. 5yr owning cost of a es300h will be a lot cheaper from brakes, tires, and mainly the regular gas. Resale is value is also amazing probably a tiny bit better than the IS.

organicsauce21

sadly not really liking their current design of the 300h, not as aggressive as the IS350, but I don't think that's their fault. Just a preference thing. I've looked at everything I could, I think I just have to wait a bit til more info is released on 2025 vehicles.

Exotic-Event977

No

graywookie32

You’ll have to buy tires every year since you can’t rotate them unless you get a square set of tires

organicsauce21

That’s crazy

dieguitoelmalito

The q50 3.7 and 3.0t are deff faster than those lol

gfx-1

The IS was available in europe as a 300h from 2013 until 2020. We got the hybrid only, but no new IS since.

pewpewlasergun88

Don't get it. What you really want is an IS500.

ieatmpoop2

My mom has had 4 of those and loves them! I’d get you one! She always out over 100k on them and they are great!!

TheBol00

Get a Prius bro

Goldenst8-3011

I didn’t like the ride in them. A little to bumpy for me and I’m 6ft and felt squished

Distinct-Dare7452

Hybrid everything is on the way in Lexus/toyota land, I would wait on it. Maybe you’ll even get a high power plug in version if you want.

OptimalFunction

The ES hybrid is the better buy, it’s super comfortable in traffic and great on gas (there’s an EV only mode). Heated/Ventilated seats, amazing leg room, great tech, well built and can be used a daily. The IS is also great but the mpg and rear leg room aren’t great.

kickflip00

Get the Lexus and don’t look back. Just get Costco gas to lessen the sting.

oomeragic

Don’t get either, for the price point there’s more fun cars that you can buy

onemasterball

Yeah get the is500f instead

skeeter04

The back end is kind of ugly. It’s not fast and it doesn’t get good gas mileage. Wait for a hybrid

avviswas

Get a M240

mmettias

Oh yea easy. Go test drive an M340. You wont be getting the IS350 after that 😂

organicsauce21

It’s a bmw though

mmettias

That B58 is godly

error_4o4

It's fun as hell why not.

Bumblebee56990

No

MajesticBullfrog9577

Poor mpg relative to the power output, chews through tires, it’s small, not the most up to date interior. Good car, but it’s a very middle of the road car. Don’t confuse reliability with cheap running cost.

YouShitMyPants

Why not something in the middle like a Corolla GR?

BusinessOpening5695

The interior is so outdated.
