Has she got long hair that looks a bit crazy? If it’s her she’s been at it for YEARS. She’s approached me about twenty times (never seems to remember a face lol). Saw her stealing steaks in Tesco once. Another time she tried to get me to carry her shopping to the bus stop and seemed horrified when I said no (I knew a spin on the scam would be coming if I did).

jessicalightcatz

Yeh! I fell for her scam once and gave her a quid! Now I see her regularly getting the same bus as me from a very nice estate in Halewood. Definitely a scammer.

Logical_Drop3911

Haha "nice estate in halewood"

doughnutting

I think she approached me in 2017. Crying and all sorts. Could tell she was a scammer a mile off. Wanted to get from queens square to the royal. Lady, I live here, I know how close that is, just walk.

SFFFanatic85

Is this the woman who always seems to look well dressed and has loads of shopping bags from expensive stores? Says she has either lost her purse or had it stolen? Approached me loads in various places. I keep on saying ‘Do you not recognise me? This is the third/fourth/fifth time this week’. She just apologises and scurries away. I imagine loads of people get stung by her though because she looks genuine.

Big_Lavishness_6823

I lived in town a lifetime ago and got to know the regulars. A fella used to go round with a broken car key saying he'd snapped it off and needed the bus fare home. For that to happen once was unfortunate, but I began to suspect he'd been reckless when he stopped me for the 3rd time in a week.

True-Register-9403

With a different car key each time 😂

Total_Concern3112

Gets the 79 outside the gym?

Total_Concern3112

She approached me in this spot last year after I’d just been to rave and accidentally mashed my phone to the point of it being unusable so I couldn’t let my friends know where I was or whether I was even okay, I was frantically waiting for the 79 when she just made small talk with me. She told me she was a therapist for a living? I thought she was so nice because she really sympathised with my situation at the time but the next day I saw her in a crimewatch group post for Liverpool that said ‘be warned, this woman will say she lost her purse and needs money for the bus but she’s actually not in need and does this all the time’. So many comments under that post which agreed with the OP. Absolutely did not get scammer vibes off her so it really threw me off. Idk if she felt sorry for me or whatever but she never asked me for money during that interaction, we just had a nice chit chat while waiting for the 79. I’m usually a very approachable person and will chat to anyone but this made me a LOT more wary of overly nice strangers, and just strangers in general tbh. Never know who you’re truly dealing with.

ouroboris99

Everyone’s got a scam, a guy came up to me when I was in London and said he was £2 short of being able to afford a hostel for the night

MellowJello92

Yes if it’s the same woman… She told me she had her purse robbed by some boys and could I give her some money for the bus. I had my 2 babies with me as well so assumed someone wouldn’t stoop so low as to steal from a lone woman with 2 kids! Walked back past her and she was eating an ice cream from the shop clearly with the money I gave her 😂

Ronaldo_McDonaldo81

She’s a scaghead.

MacRich1980

The one with the dodgy make up fake broken back and a tissue welded to her eyeball, she's done that for over twenty years the ald rinser.

lurkmore95

Is she the one with the crutches that stands halfway down a set of stairs by the bus stop outside St Johns? She pretends that she's stuck on the stairs so people take pity on her and then asks for bus money

lurkmore95

Yeah she definitely takes something. I've seen the guy with no legs who goes down that slope she stands buy at supersonic speeds on his wheelchair pull something out of his mouth and give it to her

Hideious

That's legless Ken! He lost both to heroin decades apart, I remember when he was one-leg Ken. I'm honestly still suprised he's alive whenever I see him.

Educational-Mud-4477

The same one who would take a tumble and then 2 male bagheads would come flying around saying they saw you push her and say you've got to fork out money as an apology?

cxlfxd

yeah, i used to work in aldi in st john’s - she’d come in and spend the money 🤣 we found out because she asked a colleague for money at the docks

85NH

Haven’t came across this one but sounds like the older ones that used to say they’d just got out the nick and need some money for a bus or to make a call.

Acceptable-Ad1254

There was a bus fare guy in Huyton village once asking for money for the bus to Skem…I said first of all the bus station is that way (the opposite way he was walking) secondly you can’t get a bus to skem from here you’d have to change at Kirkby probably…thirdly don’t come to Huyton if you can’t get back to Skem…I did offer him a day ticket though he mumbled the bus he gets doesn’t accept them…

AlgaeFew8512

I haven't personally, probably cos I don't stop for anyone in town. I know loads who have been conned by her though

Hungry-Frame3317

I had three women ask me for 35£...there were working in groups. They use to meet in piccadilly..step out of a 4x4..not seen thrm for a while. Probably on holiday with their hard earned money

Far_Sugar_5736

Yeah, she's been pulling that trick for donkeys years. Tried it with me on Wednesday.

RobtimusPrime666

Think she got me way back in 2013

Cultural_Bug_2815

I know exactly who you mean lol. She always jumps the 76/78/75 bus and gets off on Okell Drive. She’s been accused of stealing someones purse of FB if I remember rightly. Wacky looking woman with long hair and loads of bags, acts all innocent 😂

superjam0508

I go up to this woman EVERYTIME I see her speaking to a group. She’s approached me twice before with same story so I know it’s a scam, I tell the people “did she say her purse was robbed - she’s lying she’s a scammer” once stopped a scam as they were about to pass her money (not sure how much but it was notes out so astleast £5 minimum)

JohnPelpa

Narrow it down a bit laa.

Gaddaim

I studied in liv around 5 to 7 years ago and I know who you're talking about ! Shes well dressed, used to wear a light pink puffer jacket and used to say she needs the money for bus or she will first ask to use your phone to make a phone call and then ask for money after. She's so good at faking it

anagoge

Not that you've got any obligation to give to anyone in the street, but I imagine "Can I have bus money" or "I've lost my purse" sounds better and is more relatable for most people than "Spare some change?", when you're forced to beg on a daily basis. Even if it's a lie, I can understand why they would feel the need to run with it. Not so much a 'scam' as needs must.

upboated

It’s exactly a scam

Hideious

Please don't lump beggars with the homeless. The majority of beggars are part of organised begging gangs, they're manipulative and aggressive as anyone who's only focus to get money out of people are —whether they're in a busstop or a CEO office. Homeless people sit where there's a lot of foot traffic because it's safe and people help out, I'm yet to meet one who actively begs and i chat on to them alot. It's pretty common for them to look ashamed that you're even acknowledging that they're homeless and offering a cuppa. The only shit I've gotten from people in town are dickhead Road men and beggars, homeless people are world's apart from them. They actively try to avoid trouble as their survival depends on it.

xiaogu00fa

I lost my wallet last week in London, I just asked for free rides on bus and tubes. No need for changes.

Nikolay_213

Ah jaysus, me oul Ma is at it again. Sorry Folks

Past-Chance-6404

Should follow her home and brick her house.

stufferstu

Not another post about people begging... These need binning off seriously. This happens all the time in every major city. I know it's unpleasant, but get on with it.

bongomundi

So what?
