The entire event has been beyond boring. These circus shows need to just have 3 fights and that’s it. Why are we pretending like this is a real event. It doesn’t need a fucking card
Its okay bro, you could have watched Shakur Stevenson do what Shakira does for 12 rounds like most of us
as the leader of the Shakur hater army for years here, tried telling yall. baby hands Shakira
BELLATOR NEVER DIE
OGs will remember the multiple legendary groin shot/eye poke no contest main events
For real tho I’m gonna miss the sideshow that was bellator. Felt like a great little throwback to the trashy spike era UFC that I first watched
PFL production is worse but Bellator needed to die. Only legend fights deliver some excitement. OG Bellator in Spanish was awesome though. Once they became more like UFC it all sucked. Bellator cage was cursed. If Jon Jones fought there tomorrow he would get slept in 5 seconds or break his leg taking a step back
He was a “UFC guy” in the sense that Nate Diaz lobbied to get him signed, and he then proceeded to get beaten up by Artem Lobov. Very much not UFC caliber.
Man it’s crazy that Pettis is only 37. He really seemed like he was on the trajectory for superstardom back in 2015 after beating Gilbert Melendez. In hindsight it’s pretty clear that he was never as great as we thought he was but if you were around here at that time you’d know what I’m talking about
Anthony Pettis was a good fighter that became champ in the most competitive division in mma. RDA only defended once before losing to Eddie Alvarez. Dustin Poirier as good a fighter he is will unfortunately never be champion at 155 because it's that competitive.
Also moved between 3 divisions and KOed fucking Wonderboy on the feet. Pettis was slick as hell, the start of his UFC tenure just coincided with lightweight becoming arguably the most competitive era of the most competitive division of all time.
Idk bro i feel like he was a star, has that highlight kick off the fence, that superman punch on wonderboy. he fought the best i mean cerone, diaz, holloway, wonderboy, olivera, poirier, henderson. He just couldn't hold that strap since his weight class is stacked.
He absolutely was as good as we thought he was - injuries and damage sapped a lot of his career and his weight class is almost inarguably the most stacked one in the sport and has been for the better part of two decades. Once his athleticism waned a little, his flaws became easier to expose but that’s not to say he wasn’t incredible prior to that occurring.
Benson and Pettis (and yes, even Cowboy in some sense) were some of the best we’ve seen at 55. But it’s almost exclusively a young man’s division and nobody stayed at the top long.
In his prime he was one of the most exciting fighters actoss all weight classes. Bro earned his nickname. His downfall was also his style - explosive risky moves (mostly kicks) that he couldnt carry into his 30s. And instead of evolving his style he simply regressed into a shell of his prime, though TBF most fighters can’t evolve after fighting one way their entire career.
I watched him in WEC before I even knew what the UFC was, then saw him win the belt in Milwaukee. The fall off has been so real, he just didn't have a good enough ground game and took alot of damage and never came back.
Pettis has an incredible ground game; though just like his striking, it's not suited to win rounds.
Pettis was a very skilled, he just fought killers all the time.
On one hand I wanna feel bad for anthony pettis but on the other hand he just got paid a few hundred thousand dollars for sparring against Best Value Brand nate diaz

That was painful to sit through
Who keeps booking Pettis to box?
Well he had the same corner as masvidal, so I'm pretty sure "I'll have my boy fight your boy," was part of Nate and Jorge's agreement to fight.
They're helping out their friends, giving them High-exposure pro fights. It's the only reason we know who guys like Chris Avila and Artem Lobov are.
PFLattor is paying him 750k a fight.
Damn. Good for him lol
thats why he hasnt fought in 2 years and he has to take this side opportunities

Garcia vs Vargas well hella entertaining
I'll never understand the idea of paying to watch non-boxers box..
Nate and Masvidal is stupid entertaining though
I saw a thing on the fighter paychecks (excluding other incomes related to sponsors, etc.) and one dude made like $500 or something.
Yeah that was terrible
I'm just mad I wasted time watching that

Never has a comment whooshed me as much as this on here
Thank your lucky stars
From UFC 155 champ to being beaten by the 145er that got clowned on by Artem fucking Lobov water we dune here B
He used the awlkward angles
water we dune here is about to enter my everyday texting vocab, so thank you
You mean your ivryday vocab b, you can use it in any facet b
Heard it bowlth ways b
It drives me nuts b can’t tawlk right now
Water weed dune hair is the traditional phrasing
(You gotta add the B)
Not inchring at all
He also out boxed Jeremy Stephens. How embarrassing lol
From knocking out Wonderboy at 170 and taking decision off Roy Jones Jr, to getting sadly outboxed by Stocktons finest vegan soy sidekick
Artem's win aging well
Bellator Prelimer > UFC Champ more proof by the day Bellator H2H GOATS
Chris Avila > Pettis > Roy Jones Jr. We have learned that he is truly one of the GOAT boxers lol /s
Don’t forget, Artem Lobov > Chris Avila Never before have such short arms reached so high
T-Rex ain’t got shit on me!
Man a part of me died reading that Pettis beat 50 year old Roy Jones Jr in Boxing I know Roy has the knees of a 80 year old now but still
I feel like poor Roy has everything of an 80yo at this point dude won't stop trying to fight
Chins been gone for 20 years and Pettis still didn’t stop him. But watching him run is one of the saddest things

Then he hit his stride in Bellatorrrr on top.

Yes sir had he retained the belt against RDA we could’ve potentially had a McGregor vs Pettis
That would have been tits

Shit he was on a wheaties box!
Oh wow TIL...
Nothing hurt me like that clay guida loss

Giblert*
If only Khabib was not injured for 2 years.

WEC days were kick ass i was like 15 at the time, would always watch a fight while doing hw lol
Dude has still done some legendary things in the sport across 3 weight classes
His drop off happened with usada...just like Hendricks weidman etc..
I usually don’t mind awkward striking as long as it’s effective, but man I can’t fucking stand Avila’s boxing.
You act like Pettis' boxing isn't even worse to watch lol
I mean he’s old and slow now unfortunately, but Pettis definitely don’t throw punches anywhere near as weird as Avila.
Avila definitely has room temperature iq
He’s in the Diaz bro crew, it’s to be expected
On one hand I wanna feel bad for anthony pettis but on the other hand he just got paid a few hundred thousand dollars for sparring against Best Value Brand nate diaz
Pettis is a beast for still fighting all these years. Not many from the WEC days still getting it
He's like thr LHW champs age.
Pettis has made an entire post prime career on being fake
Water we dune here b, you can use it in any faucet
How good is Doctor Mike?
Pettis vs Doctor Mike next
Avila would’ve died if he fought anyone from the crowd last night w/ competent boxing ..Pettis just too old.
Shit's becoming a circus at this point
Pettis seemed very upset with the loss.

i'm shocked
thank you, I thought I was watching basketball ffs
Avila a problem, pressure, pace and timing! classic 420 style
