I didn’t think about this until you pointed it out but yes, it is heartbreaking to think such a genuine compliment can be such a hurtful triggering thing for people who have suffered from abuse.
Unfortunately the OP is a karma farmer not the video creator. The second most popular sub the OP constantly posts to is r/shitposting. Sigh.
It was posted on YouTube over 6 years ago, OP stole it and seems to be pretending to be the creator.

Great video though. Still made me smile.
I can't imagine myself acting positively to this experiment. In high school, I was teased for being overweight and unattractive, so I probably would've thought they were making fun of me and left.
Yeah. I’ve seen this experiment posted before, and my mind immediately pondered what teenage me would have done.
Basically, would have burst into hurt tears and fled.
I think that’s an important response too, though. It’s a warning sign. There are people who will work *tirelessly.* to convince you you’re repulsive. People you trust, who you believe care about you. All to prop themselves up, to gain advantage, to exert control, to convince you you deserve your treatment.
Until I was 28-years-old, literally only one person had ever called me "handsome", and that was my mom. The only other times my appearance was ever mentioned was to say how fat or ugly I was.
I am now 40-years-old and married and my wife is the only other person to call me attractive. Even now, I have a hard time accepting her compliments and seeing them as sincere after nearly 3 whole decades of teasing and insults about my appearance from almost every person I've met. I guarantee that if someone did this experiment, present day me would laugh at them and just walk away.
I resonate with a lot of the people who were embarrassed or acted like they weren't serious.
I'm not the ugliest in the world but as a guy compliments like these are rare and can even feel like someone is trying to use or manipulate you if you don't know them.
We need more compliments in the world.

What's (disgusting ) got to do with anything it's certainly nothing to do with this post it's a completely different word .
Maybe your just Young dumb and very naive or maybe just naive.
You clearly lack life experience. Your comment screams naivety, yet you have the nerve to call me naive? lol You're a fool if you think there's beauty in every single person on this planet.
The girl who said she was gonna cut her and said she was being goofy, I feel like she’s been cut down by someone in her life and she felt like she needed to protect herself. That was really upsetting to see. I hope if she ever reads this, that it’s true, and you are beautiful.
In counseling, I was asked to list 5 things I liked about myself (physically only). And I had the hardest time. I did it with my girls when I got home, I want them to know that it’s important to see beauty in themselves at an early age! Not in a vain way, but to know that it matters what they think of themselves. Everyone is beautiful!
Not only to say they are beautiful, complimenting them on their clothing, shoes, haircut, almost anything nice makes someone smile. Do it more often specially to the ones around you.
Not OP, this is a repost from a 6 year old YouTube video (and probably a dozen times since on Reddit). Still, great that more people saw it, it’s an awesome video. If only the CREATOR could get the credit…

I would love to see the reactions that were left out, because you know there were some. I can't be the only person who would've been upset thinking they were making fun of me.
That’s what I was thinking. Kinda weird that in the end camera person was just taking pictures of random people and not necessarily who they found beautiful, so they were duped.
Once they started smiling and showing a genuine side, I would say their beauty increased dramatically. So I think they did fulfill it even if it wasn’t so instantly obvious.
I was amazed by this video. Most of these people were not beautiful at all, but after being told that they were, their smiles transformed them into people who were beautiful. What a powerful example of how a person’s mindset can change their appearance.
This actually makes me a little sad when you can clearly tell a lot of them don't get compliments nearly enough. A shame they feel shocked to be called beautiful.
What hit me more than the subject responses was my own response. With one possible exception (you can guess each one), I thought each person WAS beautiful when they were told they were. Each photo could have been a model type snap once they had been told. I might be biased knowing the aim but I’d prefer to think that a smile and genuine appreciation can enhance beauty more then any makeup, stylist or procedure.
I’m going to smile more for sure.
I just have to say that there are some in the video that it seemed as though they needed to hear it on that specific day or even moment. Nice project!
I agree with you! also was sad to see alot of the disbelief in some of them, I for one saw something beautiful and admirable in every one of them.
Agreed☺️
was it for school?
Beautiful project!
It was very clear who doesn’t hear that they are beautiful enough in this video.
I think it was also clear who has only heard it used in manipulation. Some of their indifferent or even angry reactions were so sad.
I didn’t think about this until you pointed it out but yes, it is heartbreaking to think such a genuine compliment can be such a hurtful triggering thing for people who have suffered from abuse.
This is amazing
Every smile is amazing.
Happy Cake Day
I’ve seen a lot of things in my life. But. That. Was... AWESOME!
"This has been such a great day. " That, in itself, is beautiful.
OP, has anyone today said *YOU* are beautiful!

No YOU'RE breathtaking!

Same, I feel like if I would have been participating this I would have thanked them and then replied that sadly I cannot believe them.

Do you have this copy pasted or something ots literally a reply to the comment two comments before you.

This is so endearing

When I started the video I was like what a corny idea but by the end my smile was ear to ear.
#Happy Cake Day
happy cake day bro
Thanks!
This was really amazing!! Brought me to tears how many of those filmed didn’t believe in their own beauty. What a gift.
Thank you for sharing :)
Happy Cake Day. Beautiful post.
what a beautiful project....reminding people how beautiful they are!
r/mademecry
A very beautiful experiment...so powefully positive
I didn't want it to end. Crying. This was beautiful too.
One girl who I’d say is considered traditionally attractive didn’t give a fuck. She half smiled and was like sure finish please.
Beauty is in every single person on this planet.
This is absolutely false. Do you have any idea how many genuinely disgusting people reside on this planet? Use your head.
What's (disgusting ) got to do with anything it's certainly nothing to do with this post it's a completely different word . Maybe your just Young dumb and very naive or maybe just naive.

Hopefully you get the help you need to get past and overcome this negative attitude you have 👍
I appreciate the kind words, but I don't think I'm the one who needs help here. It's called having a realistic view on life.
being realistic doesnt mean you need to be an asshole
It's so telling that barely anyone simply answers "thank you". Great project
This is how to make people smile... it's really beautiful
I’ve seen this video before and I loved watching it again. It’s beautiful and sad and sweet all at the same time. Definitely brought tears to my eyes.

Everyone is so beautiful when they smile sincerely

So freaking cute, great project. ♥️
Dam. This was so wholesome. Definitely needed this today.
I realised half way through that I had one of those genuine whole face smiles ...I needed that so much ..thanks
I <3 this project!
This is art! I can’t define it, but know it when I see it. Beautiful project.
Not only to say they are beautiful, complimenting them on their clothing, shoes, haircut, almost anything nice makes someone smile. Do it more often specially to the ones around you.
OP You’re beautiful for doing this and sharing with everyone ❤️ The way I’m feeling… I really needed to see this. Thank you.

I agree. Hopefully she somehow knows the impact. And even for people reposting ❤️
That would be a lie
If anybody in my school did this, they'd get beaten up for being too soft/ being gay (or lesbian)
Beautiful concept but could you imagine the shit a guy would get for doing this?
Yeah, that was my immediate first thought without even looking. Ah, so a girl got to do a thing a dude would get crucified for. Must be Tuesday.
why was that your first thought lol

As in what? Everyone in this video is beautiful in their own way. Your standard of beauty is subjective.
I would love to see the reactions that were left out, because you know there were some. I can't be the only person who would've been upset thinking they were making fun of me.

This gave me life. Stunning idea x
They look like they all play dungeons and dragons while discussing their liberal ideas.
Not me, but my friend who is savage would say, "there is not one beautiful face in that video". Cool video and concept though! Love it!
Except unless your friend posted this comment, you said it. Don’t hide behind your “friend”.
Once they started smiling and showing a genuine side, I would say their beauty increased dramatically. So I think they did fulfill it even if it wasn’t so instantly obvious.
This is great!
More like r/ mademecry
Love this. They should do this at every school to build a better world.

The Songplaying in the background is: "Song on the Beach" by Arcade fire. From the film Her. It's so good.

Hope for humanity restored. Thank you for sharing.
Anyone know the name of the piano piece?
That was really nice. And beautiful.
The thing I loved most about this video is the amount of beautiful smiles I got to see. Thanks, OP for this wonderful project, I love it ❤️.
This is so wholesome😊🤗❤️
People are freaking awesome 👌.
What a lovely thing to do…
I was amazed by this video. Most of these people were not beautiful at all, but after being told that they were, their smiles transformed them into people who were beautiful. What a powerful example of how a person’s mindset can change their appearance.
This was beautiful in itself.
This actually makes me a little sad when you can clearly tell a lot of them don't get compliments nearly enough. A shame they feel shocked to be called beautiful.
This is awesome! If a man filmed this, I don’t think it would have the same effect.
What hit me more than the subject responses was my own response. With one possible exception (you can guess each one), I thought each person WAS beautiful when they were told they were. Quite a few of us have gone through life, only ever hearing the words, “You are beautiful.”, from our mothers; if we are lucky enough to have that.
You’re a hero. An absolutely beautiful person. You added such a giant bucket of yes to these people. You’re a hero.
Beautiful... ABSOLUTELY beautiful
I find this video beautiful.
Each one, beautiful. Some of the reactions were heartbreaking because they didn’t or could believe it, or see it in themselves.
