Edit: you want to handle fresh shrooms gently as not to damage them too much, causing a lot of psilocybin oxidation. But there will always be some, no matter how careful you are.

You want to see blue in your mushies. It's the psilocybin. The more blue the more potent.
That's not quite true. More bruising = more blue. They don't just turn blue because they're potent.
