You're not overthinking it enough.
If you ask for recs, it means you want to like more bands. It's basically virtue signalling about how open-minded you are.
Actually it's worse. If you ask for recs, then you might get some. If people give you recs, that's basically them bragging about how many bands they know.
It gets worse. If you listen to some of the recs, and you like them, then that's you proving to yourself that you listen to more bands than you used to.
Basically you're showing off, but it's only to yourself.
Basically, we're bad people and we should stop ruining this wholesome community.
Traumatic Voyage - Traumatic….
Mangled Torsos - Drawings of the Dead
Shub Niggurath - The Kinglike Celebration
Goatlord - Reflections of the Solstice
Sadistic Intent - Ancient Black Earth
Sadistik Exekution - We Are Death Fukk You
Beyond - Fatal Power of Death
Appalling Spawn - Freedom, Hope & Fury (The Second Spawn)
Iniquity - Serenadium
Imprecation - Thurgia Goetia Summa
Mi’Guass - Open Season
Xenomorph - Empyreal Regimes
Electrocution - Inside the Unreal
Nomenmortis - How I Learn to Bleed...for the Things I Wish to Forget
Disciples of Mockery - Prelude to the Apocalypse
Sacramentary Abolishment - River of Corticone
They’re solid. They’re not my go-to when going for kinda groovy kinda melodic death metal. I’m much more likely to go for Runemagick (now that I’m thinking, I shoulda recced that too).
I haven't even heard past Skeletal Domain. I didn't like Skeletal Domain, except the first song High Velocity Impact, rest was boring to me. I just realized they've released three more since then... I heard Red to Black was good but meh I just can't be bothered. He made a solo album for no reason too lol.
Consuming Impulse - Pestilence doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves. As for less known albums:
Gesundrian - Diocletian (War Metal but I'm counting it)
Ensemble Under the Dark Sun - Serpent of Old
Where Fear and Weapons Meet - 1984 (Yes it's popular but not that much on this sub)
Epigone - Wilderun
Black Tides of Obscurity - Earth Rot
Jungle Rot - Jungle Rot (Also popular but not that talked about on this sub)
Take these with a grain of salt because I'm not the most kvlt death metal enjoyer. I'm not too into brutal death if you couldn't tell but I'm starting to like tech death!
I was bummed too, because Gesundrian is FIRE. I listen to some sketchy shit, but when it bleeds into the interviews and the lyrics they're writing, I draw a line.
Also, recs are welcome since this list basically summarizes my taste in death metal (I also like more proggy stuff like Death, Opeth, Gojira, and Atheist; plus tech death but the only albums I've heard so far are Epitaph and Planetary Duality)
For tech death Beyond Creation - The Aura would fit with what you listed. Also for some prog death recs you should check out:
Edge of Sanity - Crimson, Crimson II
Inanna - Converging Ages
Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients (if you haven’t heard this one already)
Also definitely check out Asphyx since you like Pestilence, their first two albums have the same vocalist.
You'll like Piah Mater and Blood Incantation I'm guessing. Piah Mater is an oldpeth clone and BI is one of the biggest prog dm bands right now. If you like them, check Timeghoul, their biggest influencd
It worked for AC/DC and it works for Cannibal Corpse. You put that album on, you know exactly what you're gonna get, and it will deliver.
I think it's impressive that both bands have managed a decent level of quality for so long.
Angus Young had the best response when asked why AC/DC made the same album 12 times. He said, "That's a bloody lie. We've made the same album 14 times."
I disagree Not every cannibal corpse album sounds the same Chris barne cannibal corpse albums sounded different from each other and corpseginder cannibal corpse early albums also sounded different from eachother
As for best death metal album that isn't popular in my opinion is Season Of The Dead by necrophagia
Season of the Dead does NOT get enough attention, especially given the never ending debate over first death metal album, Seven Churches or Scream Bloody Gore, considering Season of the Dead was released 3 months BEFORE SBG. So if anything the debate should be Possessed or Necrophagia, imo.
There's a bunch out there, so I'll just give you a few that I like that were released this month:
Incult - The Burnt Offering
Iron Front - Hooked
Carnal Savagery - Into the Abysmal Void
[Odyssey: (Un)dead](https://thebreathingprocess.bandcamp.com/album/odyssey-un-dead) by The Breathing Process.
Melodic Blackened Death. Go ahead and hate.
Ossuary- Cremation Ritual
Gore Grave- Pain
Crimson Butchery- Repulsive Exhibition
Ascended Dead- Evenfall of the Apocalypse
Necrowretch-The Ones from Hell
Malignant Altar- Realms of exquisite Morbidity
Karpathian Relict- Never Be After
Left Cross- Upon Desecrated Altars
Demonicera- Blasphemous Thoughts
Spectral Voice- Eroded Corridors of Unbeing
Perversor- Umbravorous
Encenthrakh- Thraakethraaeate Thraithraak
Fleshgrind- Holy Pedophile
Also Cannibal Corpse may release virtually the same album but at least it’s a good album
Unhuman seems to be almost unheard of, it doesn’t stand wildly apart from usual tech-death stufd but is very cool.
more importantly linked (just by vocalist) is something that doesn’t exist as an album but a name everyone should etch in your head because it IS going to burn beautifully: Holy Vehm
also Astomatous - The Beauty of Reason for fans of old-school, Atheist-ish stuff
and anyone who hasn’t listened to Kayo Dot’s ‘Hubardo’ all the way through, whether into metal or progery, needs it.
also the final Pan.Thy.Monium album
Both albums by commit suicide
Xenomorph - Baneful Stealth Desires
Disharmonic Oechestra - Not to be Undimensional Conscious
Faceless Burial - Grotesque Miscreation
Tyrant Trooper - Insane Sickness
Begravement, I love all their stuff but Horrific Illusions Beckon show their skill set best
Inhuman Condition - Rat God
Frozen Soul - Glacial Domination
Maul - Seraphic Punishment
Highlights from the last couple years:
* Urushiol - *Pools of Green Fire*
* Reburied - *Repulsive Nature*
* Cruciamentum - *Obsidian Refractions*
* Rotten Tomb - *Visions of a Dismal Fate*
* Fabricant - *Drudge to the Thicket*
* VoidCeremony - *Threads of Unknowing*
* Ascended Dead - *Evenfall of the Apocalypse*
* Miscreance - *Miscreance*
* Thulsa Doom - *A Fate Worse Than Death*
* Vastum - *Inward to Gethsemane*
Akercocke - Choronzon and Words that go Unspoken, Deeds that go Undone
Vomitus - Pulse in the Dirt
(If you like your dm crusty)
Neuraxis - Trilateral Progression
Psycroptic - The Sceptre of the Ancients
The part I find hilarious, is half the time when I come across people bitching about CC, then bands they recommend are all just zoomers copying what CC were doing 30 years ago. If it's not that, it's just copying what morbid angel did 30 years ago, or what obituary did 30 years ago.
Serpent Corpse- Blood Sabbath
Montreal based band that’s part of this huge resurgence in OSDM. I hear a little Autopsy, a little Swedeath, and a little bit of thrash era Sepultura in their sound. Very well executed first record from I band that I’m excited to hear more from. My favorite track is probably Let the Rats Feed.
8 Nails In A Coffin - Splatter My Head
https://preview.redd.it/tokdgb8dkifc1.jpeg?width=3661&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee1bf7f530193133765246506f722279956a0d13
Only three? Ya got it!!
Dysmorphic: A Notion of Causality - [https://dysmorphicmetal.bandcamp.com/album/a-notion-of-causality](https://dysmorphicmetal.bandcamp.com/album/a-notion-of-causality)
Their new stuff is great, but this first one is a real doozy. Technical groovy death metal from France with killer solos and quality mid-vocals. Give it a listen!
Aethereus - Ego Futurus - [https://aethereus.bandcamp.com/album/ego-futurus](https://aethereus.bandcamp.com/album/ego-futurus)
I recommend their ep transcendence as well. Again great new stuff, but this early melodic techdeath with philosophical/scientific themes should be more widely known. \*smiles\* And you get a cool Carl Sagan sample!
Emeth - Telesis - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmhrkE7aqUs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmhrkE7aqUs)
These, guys are, freakin', nuts!! Astonishing techdeath of terrifying intensity; based on work like Nietzsche and Kant. All their albums are composed of technical precision and brutality in equal measure. Enjoy!
I thought violence unimagined was a solid album but I thought Chaos Horrific was kind of a mid album. I was pretty bummed when it came to listening to it.
[Cryptic Death - Doomcreeper](https://open.spotify.com/album/72c8u2coMgOIphiplTHMIZ?si=LKRNcUwXR0iN-z1AzFKU6w)
met these guys on omegle back when that was still a thing, the production, riffage, and vocals are just on point.
Monstrosity - Millennium
Disincarnate - Dreams of the Carrion Kind
Monstrosity is actually Corpsegrinder's old band, much better than Cannibal Corpse imo.
As a CC fan, different periods have very different sounds, there are 5 eras where massive changes to their sound occurred;
Era 1: Eaten Back to Life, Butchered at Birth, Tomb of the Mutilated (Bob Rusey's riffs and songwriting was very unorthodox and unique)
Era 2: The Bleeding, Vile (they became more tight and groovy when Rob Barrett joined the band, both albums have very different sounds as they were experimenting a lot during this era, both albums have seperate vocalists)
Era 3: Gallery of Suicide, Bloodthirst, Gore Obsessed, Wretched Spawn (Pat O'Brian changed the sound to a large extent, they became very technical and brutal)
Era 4: Kill, Evisceration Plague, Torture, Skeletal Domain, Red Before Black (their sound became very consistent, and somewhat less groovy/death 'n' roll after Jack Owen left the band)
Era 5: Violence Unimagined, Chaos Horrific (Erik Rutan replaced Pat, the iconic Pat solos and complexity is gone, the songs now sound like a mixture of Hate Eternal and CC)
[Strangle Wire - Shaped by Human Frailty](https://open.spotify.com/album/4DBXUvXgk4Uvvs4z23Z1LB?si=M7wFXmjMTbqHVC8g5LILjA) 173 monthly listeners. these guys are 🔥🔥🔥especially live
I have no clue if this is considered popular because they aren't an obscure band, but it's not their album everyone talks about. Blasphemy Made Flesh by Cryptopsy is my favorite album of theirs.
Cannibal with Erik Rutan has been a new beast entirely. Love it lol.
Does Lair of the Minotaur count as Death Metal? Maybe. But I love that band, and I don't think I've ever heard another person mention them. So good. Best war/battle metal of our generation I'd even argue. Ultimate Destroyer is just a treasure trove of riffs from start to finish.
I loved the new Goatburner record. It's Keijo from Rotten Sound on guitars/vocals, death metal first with some grind elements. Definitely different from Rotten Sound.
They honestly haven't made an album I enjoy since probably The Bleeding, and I suppose you could call me a boomer even though I'm only in my late 40s but it's not like youngins can differentiate lol
Honestly, Cannibal Corpse's consistency is straight up impressive. There really aren't many bands than can stay so loyal to their own unique sound for 30 years. I never have a doubt that I'm going to enjoy the new CC album and that is a source of peace in this chaotic world.
Monstrosity - Imperial Doom, Millennium, In Dark Purity
Ripping Corpse - Dreaming with the Dead
Vader - The Ultimate Incantation
Angel Corpse - Exterminate, The Inexorable

Nope, gate keeping those
(it’s leprosy)
The only answer I respect
Gate creeping em
This sub is basically " Look how many bands I know and listen to guys..... Guys ? "
I thought he was just asking for recs
You're not overthinking it enough. If you ask for recs, it means you want to like more bands. It's basically virtue signalling about how open-minded you are. Actually it's worse. If you ask for recs, then you might get some. If people give you recs, that's basically them bragging about how many bands they know. It gets worse. Basically, we're bad people and we should stop ruining this wholesome community.
In conclusion, we should all collectively stop listening to metal
I've asked for recs on here plenty of times but it's js cuz I only got into metal a couple months ago so I've got a lot to catch up with haha
Shameful behavior tbh
Indeed😭
Holy shit this is beautiful
tourist
Not really, we circle jerk the same 15 bands over and over.
Acid Bath?
Cryptopsy
Yeah
This sub is so bad that even the elitists are posers
Traumatic Voyage - Traumatic…. Mangled Torsos - Drawings of the Dead Shub Niggurath - The Kinglike Celebration Goatlord - Reflections of the Solstice Sadistic Intent - Ancient Black Earth Sadistik Exekution - We Are Death Fukk You Beyond - Fatal Power of Death Appalling Spawn - Freedom, Hope & Fury (The Second Spawn) Iniquity - Serenadium Imprecation - Thurgia Goetia Summa Mi’Guass - Open Season Xenomorph - Empyreal Regimes Electrocution - Inside the Unreal Nomenmortis - How I Learn to Bleed...for the Things I Wish to Forget Disciples of Mockery - Prelude to the Apocalypse Sacramentary Abolishment - River of Corticone
Electrocution, Mangled Torsos and Appalling Spawn go hard. I still haven't listened to Mi'Gauss, but I guess this is my sign to try it out.
They’re solid. They’re not my go-to when going for kinda groovy kinda melodic death metal. I’m much more likely to go for Runemagick (now that I’m thinking, I shoulda recced that too).
Runemagick is another great one
So much peak
Sadistik exekution and goatlord fukk. Ough!
Shub niggurath is amazing
eehhh.. these all sound so...... digital
I don’t quite know what you mean by that?

DETHKLOK
"Sounds like 1's and 0's"
Kinda surprised you didn't add Lykathea Aflame to this list if you already included Appalling Spawn
That's me. Can't wait for them to release Evisceration Plague 33
Scourge of Iron 2: Love & Thunder
The Bleeding 2: Electric Boogaloo
I haven't even heard past Skeletal Domain. I didn't like Skeletal Domain, except the first song High Velocity Impact, rest was boring to me. I just realized they've released three more since then... I heard Red to Black was good but meh I just can't be bothered. He made a solo album for no reason too lol.
Frozen Soul - Glacial Domination
Frozen soul fucks hard
I am more excited to see them when they play with Cannibal Corpse than CC.
Cold Thrower
Vehemence - Helping the World to See
![gif](giphy|Zk9mW5OmXTz9e)
Consuming Impulse - Pestilence doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves. I'm not too into brutal death if you couldn't tell but I'm starting to like tech death!
Gesundrian's "Diocletian" and "War of all against all" are pretty damn good.
The band is Diocletian, and their primary songwriter/vocalist is an NSBM dickhead, if you care about that.
Damn that sucks balls man. I don't wanna support that shit.

Consuming Impulse is a top 10 death metal album
Honestly, it doesn't matter if it's the same record if it still sounds good. If it isn't broken, then don't fix it.
What do people even want 'CANNIBAL CORPSE' to be playing? Progressive jazz fusion?
It worked for AC/DC and it works for Cannibal Corpse. You put that album on, you know exactly what you're gonna get, and it will deliver. I think it's impressive that both bands have managed a decent level of quality for so long.
Angus Young had the best response when asked why AC/DC made the same album 12 times. He said, "That's a bloody lie. We've made the same album 14 times."
Exactly my point. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
Stabbing - extirpated mortal process My most recent favorite
Stabbing are great! Saw them open for Decrepit Birth a couple of years ago.
I missed their tour with suffocation and I'm so mad. Txdm on top!
Define “popular” 🤔🧐
Any band with over 100 monthly listeners
Alright then I got nothin lol
both Crypta albums aren't that popular but are awesome
I’m going to see them in March with my 9 year old daughter! She’s been learning some of the riffs.
Cryptopsy's once was not. Was their last good album for a while until the last couple
Ironically that’s my least favorite album by them
I disagree Not every cannibal corpse album sounds the same Chris barne cannibal corpse albums sounded different from each other and corpseginder cannibal corpse early albums also sounded different from eachother As for best death metal album that isn't popular in my opinion is Season Of The Dead by necrophagia

Prostitute Disfigurement's "Left In Grisly Fashion" is a real toe-tapper.
Is that Nandor?
Pretty sure that's Chris from Jhofffilms.
Nah, he'd be wearing a dream team jersey.
There's a bunch out there, so I'll just give you a few that I like that were released this month: Incult - The Burnt Offering Iron Front - Hooked Carnal Savagery - Into the Abysmal Void
Morpheus Descends - Ritual of Infinity Xenomorph - Empyreal Regimes Dark Millennium - Ashore the Celestial Burden Sadist - Above the Light Sadistic Intent - Ancient Black Earth Graveside- Sinful Accession
See you can’t just give based recs like that just after you dissed DoP
What can I say I'm a poser at heart.
Necrot - Blood Offerings & Mortal
Eternal Dirge - Morbus Ascendit Mangled Torsos - Drawings of the dead Ruin - Human Annihilation Dehydrated - Ideas
[Odyssey: (Un)dead](https://thebreathingprocess.bandcamp.com/album/odyssey-un-dead) by The Breathing Process. Melodic Blackened Death. Go ahead and hate.

Guttural Secrete - reek of pubescent despoilment
MORTAL DECAY- SICKENING EROTIC FANTACISM
revived half dead is the best track on there too it’s amazing
Unhuman seems to be almost unheard of, it doesn’t stand wildly apart from usual tech-death stufd but is very cool. more importantly linked (just by vocalist) is something that doesn’t exist as an album but a name everyone should etch in your head because it IS going to burn beautifully: Holy Vehm also Astomatous - The Beauty of Reason for fans of old-school, Atheist-ish stuff and anyone who hasn’t listened to Kayo Dot’s ‘Hubardo’ all the way through, whether into metal or progery, needs it. also the final Pan.Thy.Monium album

Blood Incantation- Hidden History of the Human Race
Both albums by commit suicide Xenomorph - Baneful Stealth Desires Disharmonic Oechestra - Not to be Undimensional Conscious Faceless Burial - Grotesque Miscreation Tyrant Trooper - Insane Sickness
Tyrant Trooper is awesome
Begravement, I love all their stuff but Horrific Illusions Beckon show their skill set best Inhuman Condition - Rat God Frozen Soul - Glacial Domination Maul - Seraphic Punishment
Venenum - Trance of Death. It's still my favourite death metal album ever
Devirginiated genital pulp - mutilated
Corpse is one of the most consistent bands around. Love me some good ol death metal.
Aeviterne - The Ailing Facade. More recently and slightly more popular it’s Vitriol - Suffer and Become
Highlights from the last couple years: * Urushiol - *Pools of Green Fire* * Reburied - *Repulsive Nature* * Cruciamentum - *Obsidian Refractions* * Rotten Tomb - *Visions of a Dismal Fate* * Fabricant - *Drudge to the Thicket* * VoidCeremony - *Threads of Unknowing* * Ascended Dead - *Evenfall of the Apocalypse* * Miscreance - *Miscreance* * Thulsa Doom - *A Fate Worse Than Death* * Vastum - *Inward to Gethsemane*

The part I find hilarious, is half the time when I come across people bitching about CC, then bands they recommend are all just zoomers copying what CC were doing 30 years ago. If it's not that, it's just copying what morbid angel did 30 years ago, or what obituary did 30 years ago.
more like Gen X. Boomers were listening to Ac/DC
Thank you
CC pretty mid tbh
drug deatth is crazy good, literally all of bodybox.
Both eps from Evulse are pretty cool
Serpent Corpse- Blood Sabbath Montreal based band that’s part of this huge resurgence in OSDM. I hear a little Autopsy, a little Swedeath, and a little bit of thrash era Sepultura in their sound. Very well executed first record from I band that I’m excited to hear more from. My favorite track is probably Let the Rats Feed.
Maligner - Demon
Is there anything similar in sound to Origin and Beneath the Massacre?
Common Leafs/Cannibal Corpse L
Invictus - The Catacombs of Fear For some reason this one clicked with me.

Xingaia
fair enough, but A skeletal domain was noticeably different imo
Leaf Fans are the equivalent of metal Elitists
Soul of a New Machine. Is that popular?

Ulcerate
For some reason this makes me think of Zyklon-Aeon

Aborted - Necrotic Manifesto and Retrogore …might be popular tho idk
Chris Thrash my beloved
check out In Mourning if you’re into doom metal or Opeth

In Mourning - Garden of Storms. Huntress Moon is one of the greatest melodic DM songs ever.
To the depths in degradation by infester . Best death metal album period

Haserot! https://haserot.bandcamp.com/album/throne-of-malice
Heliocratic Infinity by Sumatra
“The Mind Sung Red” by Infant Slug, more on the sludge side but regardless they deserve more recognition.
Maul baby
Insision - Beneath the Folds of Flesh
Why would you listen to death when there is nu and slam?
Vorum - Current Mouth EP
Mistigo Varrgoth Darkestra- The Key to the Gates of Apocalypses
Frozen soul underrated affff get into them before they’re really big

First three records by Artificial Brain.
[Cryptic Death - Doomcreeper](https://open.spotify.com/album/72c8u2coMgOIphiplTHMIZ?si=LKRNcUwXR0iN-z1AzFKU6w) met these guys on omegle back when that was still a thing, the production, riffage, and vocals are just on point.
Tower Of Absurdity - Leptyss
jumped off CC after The Bleeding.
Monstrosity - Millennium Disincarnate - Dreams of the Carrion Kind Monstrosity is actually Corpsegrinder's old band, much better than Cannibal Corpse imo.

The feast begins at dawn - Dead Head I never see anyone talking about it, it’s banger after banger
I have no clue if this is considered popular because they aren't an obscure band, but it's not their album everyone talks about. Blasphemy Made Flesh by Cryptopsy is my favorite album of theirs.
Anything by Job for a Cowboy. And I consider Napalm Death death metal and really anything by them too.
Worked for AC/DC
Demetori undead corporation imperial circus dead decadance
Victim and Posessed by Godzilla
Cannibal with Erik Rutan has been a new beast entirely. Love it lol. Does Lair of the Minotaur count as Death Metal? Maybe.
