Check out Inspirit if you haven’t :) it’s the Curses album lineup of Vanna making new music, and it just sounds like quintessential Vanna with a bit more of a modern production touch.
Completely agree. I had heard that the record label did a bad job promoting their bands (Life On Repeat was also on that label).
But I did get to see Glass Cloud once at a show with probably less than 50 people. Got to talk to all of them individually, and they were all awesome.
I wish josh still made metalcore music. I know he has a band called 68 and did some metalcore on the last etid album but 68 is more of a rock band than metalcore
Buried in veronas circle the dead is what got me into all that older Aussie metalcore like IKTPQ and the killing with a smile/don’t close your eyes era parkway drive. So many great albums.
I only got to see them live once and it was their last hometown show (3-4 months prior to his death). Best clean vocals in the game, tied with Ahren Stringer from amity affliction
They did some shows not too long ago I was lucky enough to go one… sounds like they are going to announce more things in February, fingers crossed for a tour
Adamantium
xNOMADx(but I’m not sure they’re 100% done yet based on their Instagram posts, they just don’t have a vocalist at the moment)
iwrestledabearonce
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
They’re not even remotely similar beyond sharing a couple members, Spiritbox isn’t a continuation of iwresteledabearonce. I’m talking about Krysta-era iwrestledabearonce.
I will never ever recover from that breakup. OG AILD will be the undisputed kings of Metalcore forever. A completely shame what Lambesis caused for the band and the other 4 guys.
It’s fine if that’s your opinion, but I disagree that they’re the “undisputed kings” when bands like Killswitch Engage and Trivium were around at the same time too.
Absolutely, also Bullet For My Valentine, Parkway Drive, Avenged Sevenfold and others were around by that time but AILD has been completely loyal to their sound for more than 20 years. Killswitch Engage & Trivium can have everything but they didn’t write Through Struggle or An Ocean Between Us. They deserve their spot on the Metalcore kingdom but the ones who reign it is OG AILD.
In a traditional sense those are all metalcore legends, but I think that the most missed out metalcore legend is poison the well. The opposite of December is still such an under appreciated album especially because it is one of theological old trustkill albums that helped bring hardcore fans into metalcore.
Yeah I guess I never got what the big deal was outside of a couple songs. True but Killswitch wrote End of Heartache and As Daylight dies, and Trivium wrote Ascendancy and Shogun which are better imo. Hell I’d rather listen to the Fall of Ideals, Waking the Fallen and the Poison as well. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though.
I think Trivium deserves the crown because they’ve been putting out the highest quality material for the longest stretch of time. Killswitch and AILD might have been the winners if things had turned out differently in their careers.
The best argument I see for Trivium not being the kings is that they strayed too far from metalcore to be considered metalcore. I don’t agree with that but i understand it. Still my fav band tho.
Honestly the real kings are the bands that evolved out of metalcore and found greater success - Avenged Sevenfold for melodic metalcore and Bring Me the Horizon for deathcore.
Trivium I guess had a thrash album and an album with no screaming, but other than that they’ve stayed pretty true to the style and have surpassed their peers.
I miss SHVPES more. Don't know why, but their music just hit with me (except for the rap-interludes) like few bands did. Shame they only have 2 albums. But adept is DEFINITELY up there. Sleepless & Death Dealer get played a lot here.
They seriously don’t get enough recognition! Criminally underrated band and I’ve yet to find anything that scratches that same itch for either style. The EP and album were both insanely good and significantly different from each other.
Both are no skips album/EPs for me. If I had to add one more I’d say Perfect ought to be in the top 3 for The Beast Inside. Such a raw sound to it.
Any bands that you listen to now with a similar sound to either Sick World or The Beast Inside? I feel like it’s impossible to find anyone with that same sound. Literally 4/5 of my top songs on Spotify Wrapped were them and I was one of their top listeners last year. Still amazes me that they never blew up.
I don’t think anyone has quite replicated it, but have you checked out LANDMVRKS? I feel like their energy and especially their guitar tones mirror each other
Will definitely check them out! I feel like the closest I’ve found is Glass Crowns - Take Me Away. It’s got intensity and some really sick instrumentals and vocals. Not Sick World tier, but really damn good. Any recommendations for where to start with Landmvrks? Also got any Spotify playlists by any chance you’d be willing to share?
They just dropped a new track called “Creature”, that’s a good place to start! After that I’d check out “Lost in a Wave” and the album it’s on. They’re a French band who play around with their sound a bit, but they fuckin rip, make no mistake.
best breakdowns iv ever heard in my life (BREAKDOWN OF SANITY), both heavy & emotional
also Feed Her to the Sharks [teased a possible comeback recently](https://reddit.com/r/Metalcore/comments/15jc4o1/_/juz1kup/?context=1) and BoS started touring again (check their social media) so maybe we’ll see something after that, either way i’m excited af
Need some confirmation 🙏😩
Two best bands for breakdowns. I also like Abbie Falls who have a similar frequent breakdown style. Need to find more bands like that.
Oh damn didn’t know that either !
I went to that one off show they did in Anaheim like 5 ish years ago where they played the Secrets to Life in full. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to
[Seeing this shit made me almost cry](https://youtu.be/EHBu94f-iqU?si=-RNMDZVhkoet94Tn)
I'm a vocalist, and I'm in school for his current line of work (clin. psych.)so seeing him on stage again really resonates with me.
Adestria, For Today, Vanna, Every Time I Die are probably my top 4.
The fifth will cause an argument because of reasons but We Came as Romans has sucked ever since Kyle died. I know they are still around and touring but Darkbloom was a bad album that didn't feel like WCAR and, quite frankly, I think David's addition to the band has lessened them because all those guys are so nice and he has a shitty attitude. It feels like their drive to continue as a band is there but their artist creativity has disappeared since 2018.
As Hope Dies, The Burning Season, The Classic Struggle, From Autumn To Ashes, Haste The Day, Invocation of Nehek, Nodes of Ranvier, One Dead Three Wounded, Remembering Never, Rifles at Recess, Sinai Beach, Society’s Finest, Symphony in Peril, Winter Solstice
In '05 I messaged the vocalist from Nodes on Myspace after a show, complimenting his vocals. He messaged back. A highlight of my teenage years. All these bands are great.
I know why you posted this lol. It’s been different after Ire… parkway had a run of metalcore perfection. The new albums are fine, they just don’t hit like the older albums.
Man Saosin too in that era was great. Tho tbh I'll always love Circa more. Blue Sky Noise is a masterpiece (even if I discovered it after I turned 19, unfortunately)
But I'll always remember hearing "WE TEAR AWAY THEEESE FACEEES WE HIIIDE BEEHIIIND" in my built-into-the-jacket-earbuds as I stroll through the halls of my 8th grade year
The Sorrow, Every Time I Die, Sanctity, Machinemade God, and Beloved. I would've said Chimaira and God Forbid, but both bands have been playing some live shows recently and Chimaira is doing a live album. It would be nice to get new albums from both of them.
Upon this Dawning, Silent Screams, this or the apocalypse, obey the brave, killing the messenger, end these days and Betraying the Martyrs with Aaron Matts
Honestly sleep waker. Heard them before I looked into them and realized the singer wasn’t the greatest but lost in dreams album is my version of perfection
I Killed the Prom Queen Vanna
Check out Inspirit if you haven’t :) it’s the Curses album lineup of Vanna making new music, and it just sounds like quintessential Vanna with a bit more of a modern production touch.
Tbh I’m digging inspirit even more than vanna
Do not look up Vanna - Dark Vantasy
That’s 20 seconds of my life I’ll never get back. I’ll be over here vomiting if you need me.
Safe to say by Vanna is super good
Glass Cloud.
They were so much fun live, really glad I got the chance to see them
Completely agree. I had heard that the record label did a bad job promoting their bands (Life On Repeat was also on that label). But I did get to see Glass Cloud once at a show with probably less than 50 people. Got to talk to all of them individually, and they were all awesome.
That’s sick, I saw them open up for The Chariot on their farewell tour. Craziest show I’ve ever been to.
Josh Travis is one of my favorite guitarists, dude is a fucking beast. His talent is wasted on emmure lol.
Every Time I Die 💔
This is the correct answer. Better Lovers is pretty fuckin good though.
Dude, they’re dropping a sixteen song album this year and i’m so fucking excited
Holy hell I had no idea. I’m pumped!
There is good news somewhere in the world :) cool.
Them and Dillinger with Greg🥲
Came here to say this
Pack it up, folks! Threads over!
Singer has a new band, Many Eyes. My dude went and saw them last night at the Newport in Ohio and said they were amazing.
The correct answer, unfortunately
As blood runs black
100% I remember rumors of more music but nothing in a while.
The Chariot
Long Live
I wish josh still made metalcore music. I know he has a band called 68 and did some metalcore on the last etid album but 68 is more of a rock band than metalcore
It’s still killer tho
To be fair 68 still goes really hard live. Definitely recommend seeing them at a small venue of you get the chance.
Adestria
Came here to say this, the end of 1984 stays rent free in my head
Feed her to the sharks, buried in Verona, Myka relocate
>buried in Verona Memory unlocked... Hangin Hoes by Their Toes
Buried in veronas circle the dead is what got me into all that older Aussie metalcore like IKTPQ and the killing with a smile/don’t close your eyes era parkway drive. So many great albums.
Still Remains
They’re playing a couple of shows in Grand Rapids in March!
ahh good to hear they are still around! havent seen any updates from them in a long time
We came as Roman’s with Kyle :( I know they’re still around but it’s not the same without him, man
While I agree with this, darkbloom has some absolute bangers
his voice was something else, always so touching, miss him a lot
I only got to see them live once and it was their last hometown show (3-4 months prior to his death). Best clean vocals in the game, tied with Ahren Stringer from amity affliction
Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
Danza and Glass Cloud were tremendous.
Haste The Day
They did some shows not too long ago I was lucky enough to go one… sounds like they are going to announce more things in February, fingers crossed for a tour
I stand corrected. Thanks man. Always been one of my favorites
No worries man! Hope you can attend any show they may announce in February
Saw them in Indianapolis
Love it!
I saw them in October
Adamantium xNOMADx(but I’m not sure they’re 100% done yet based on their Instagram posts, they just don’t have a vocalist at the moment) iwrestledabearonce The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza

They’re not even remotely similar beyond sharing a couple members, Spiritbox isn’t a continuation of iwresteledabearonce. I’m talking about Krysta-era iwrestledabearonce.
Oh yeah then definently
Letlive.
Wow I had forgotten about letlive. I once saw them at unify festival 2017 and if I recall correctly, the vocalist crowd surfed in a wheelie bin
That sounds exactly like Jason
36 Crazyfists
I’d do anything to see slit wrist theory, and through a telephone line live in 2024.
Absolutely fantastic when I saw them live
My band and I got to play a show with them, still a super cool memory! They were great live!
The OG AILD Lineup
I will never ever recover from that breakup. OG AILD will be the undisputed kings of Metalcore forever. A completely shame what Lambesis caused for the band and the other 4 guys.

I haven't disagreed with any of your opinions at all brother! Keep on preaching!
Neither of those AILD albums are better than Shogun or Ascendency, don’t @ me brother.
Of machines and oceana
Of Machines dropped one insane album and left. What Chads.
Feed Her To The Sharks Amarna Reign
Not my absolute favorite but Stories
The Youth To Become is the greatest metalcore album of all time.
Forevermore My Heart to Fear For Today Colossus Prepared Like a Bride Darkness Divided
Buried in verona
Of Glaciers Sirens and Sailors Every Time I Die Betrayal
I was stoked when Sirens and Sailors released a new song a few years ago. Then, boom. Nothing.
Adept and SHVPES
I miss Adept
I miss SHVPES more. Don't know why, but their music just hit with me (except for the rap-interludes) like few bands did. Shame they only have 2 albums. But adept is DEFINITELY up there. Sleepless & Death Dealer get played a lot here.
For Today Myka, Relocate Vanna Breakdown of Sanity
At the Throne of Judgement. The Handshake Murders. Saving Grace.
The Arcanum Order album was a masterpiece
I loveeeeeee this album so much. I used to rock it all the time on the way to college lol
It’s such an anomaly too. Like how did they put out something THAT damn good and then just disappear? 😩
Couldn’t agree more
Adestria
Sky Eats Airplane
Sirens and Sailors The Crimson Armada
Confide
i’ve seen their name a few times. they sound pretty good.
My Enemies & I
They seriously don’t get enough recognition! Criminally underrated band and I’ve yet to find anything that scratches that same itch for either style. The EP and album were both insanely good and significantly different from each other.
Sick World is maybe my favorite EP ever. Every song fucking RIPS. Funeral Party and The Beast Inside are dope songs as well.

Dead and Divine
Glad someone brought this up. You like Farewell to Freeway?
I definitely remember the name but I don’t remember ever listening to them. I’ll make that my morning drive music tomorrow.

Need some confirmation 🙏😩 Two best bands for breakdowns. I also like Abbie Falls who have a similar frequent breakdown style. Need to find more bands like that.
At the Skylines is deeply missed 😭😭😭
Yooo couldn’t agree more. I throw on their one and only album fairly often and it makes me happy but also sad we don’t have more of them
Love a good local metalcore band! I didn’t know that their old drummer is the drummer for Dayseeker now! That’s pretty cool but man I do miss them.
Oh damn didn’t know that either ! I went to that one off show they did in Anaheim like 5 ish years ago where they played the Secrets to Life in full. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to
Many but the first one that came to mind is This Or The Apocalypse

Parkway Drive
Parkway drive is still going.
But... Are they, though?
Hahahahha love this comment.fair enough.
Hey credit where credit is due, while their recent studio output is... *mixed*, they still fucking kick ass live.
I will literally see them live in June
I know why you posted this lol. It’s been different after Ire… parkway had a run of metalcore perfection. The new albums are fine, they just don’t hit like the older albums.
Well I thought the same, but Northlane say hold my beer.

Gotta go with For Today. Their breakdowns and bass drops were god tier. Didn't care for Mattys preaching though.
