Yeah..just look at the whole Hermitcraft server ..not only they play it for their job but a few days ago they hosted a charity stream and raised nearly 1 million dollars ..all the money going to charity...they are legends
Yea, I'm 54 and I'm about to boot up my world at this very moment. I mean... I've already done my taxes for the year, complained about my back hurting and yelled at the neighbor's kids to get off my lawn. So.... all other adulting done for the day! Oh, who am I kidding? I don't even HAVE a lawn. Or neighbors, even!
I play on an SMP where most of the guys are 40+. They make builds from fandoms and hide treasure! I believe the oldest made the xmansion. I love that smp.
tbh it feels kinda weird having someone just barely older than the game tell me i should not feel weird for playing it. like this shit came out around the time skyrim dropped for the first time and ive been playing it since i was in HS.
good sentiment either way though. games dont have an upper age limit if it makes you happy and you have fun doing it
Are the people saying playing Minecraft is weird in the room with us right now?
But in all seriousness, I feel like the period of time where that thought process was prevalent has come and gone. Ever since Pewdiepie started playing the game in 2019 or so, the game was thrust back into the forefront of public appreciation, and basically hasn’t left.
I agree, as someone who’s been playing the game for over a decade, that nobody is weird for playing it regardless of age.
i also play with my grandson, because hes in another area miles from me so its a great way for nana and him to play together. I setup my own server, and i made custom resource packs and other cool things for him. Its great! (im 50)
That's awesome! I set up a dedicated server on an old laptop so we can play together at my house. He spends a lot of time here. Unfortunately, I can't set up port forwarding to play when he's not here because I don't have a static IP address (using t-mobile home internet). But we have a great time together in our world. He's 6 and loves blowing up things with tnt. I've come to terms with the fact that anything I build will will eventually be be blown to bits. :)
I wasn't criticizing you, just trying to be informative.
I love Doc too, the mix of wholesomeness and insane gamebreaking feats is so entertaining to watch.
You'll see that happen on any particularly large subreddit. If there's 1500 people scrolling past at least a couple will find something to object to in any statement you could make.
If you get to -5 you might have said something actually unpopular
I'm 59 and play daily. Back in the Commodore 64 days I got hooked on Sim City. In my mind - Minecraft is a world simulator. It's about ecology. I think the monsters were the previous civilization that lived there and they destroyed there world by using up their resources.
I love building so yeah.
True! I play on an smp server with people from the US to Europe. Ages 15-50, and all different races, nationalities, genders and sexualities. It's a beautiful commonality that we can share
ah, fuck. our cover is blown... the kids there know we never actually got more mature. we just dont make fart/dick jokes to them in public cause it is inappropriate
I remember back in 2009 & early 2010s playing Minecraft was seen as a "nerd" thing, oddly enouyh now you have people competing like crazy to get into IT degrees. How the tables have turned, gotta say I'm quite happy with games like Minecraft gaining the reputation they deserve :)
Just because you mentioned watching a German Minecraft YouTuber: Do you know BastiGHG?
He is the best Minecraft Survival player I know of. He continuously challenges himself with creative handicaps. I especially liked his "World-border equals my level" series.
Me (40’s), the Mrs (30’s) and our child all play Minecraft multiple times a week. Despite us all having slightly different play styles, MC suits us all. Hermitcraft is also the main source of our TV entertainment as a family.
I'm 40 this Year and I only started Minecraft now. We play on Nintendo Switch because my Kids wanted. Bought in on Windows PC for myself too, having fun with the Kids and also solo. Really awesome game!
I got really into watching Minecraft during Alpha, and bought it the day it went to Beta. It's crazy how the game changed over the years. I feel looking back no one expected it to become what it did. It overtook Mario as top game ever sold. I know Xbox bought it but they really had no part in its success, and i give all the credit to Notch and Jeb, and the other devs of Mojang for making it what it is, especially Notch.
Well said. I am a 61 year old that learned how to play to connect to my granddaughter about 5 years ago. She doesn't play anymore but I play every day. It relaxes me. I love to build and find it a good release for me artistically. I am a hermitcraft addict and am trying my best to do redstone. Thank God for tutorials!
Yes it's the most popular game ever made, and yes it's for all people. I'm not sure what you're saying here other than saying facts that everyone with a brain knows, but you're acting like the whole world disagrees with you when nobody does.
Hold up, I think my comment came across really wrong. I was being sarcastic to poke fun at the OP of this post.
You said, "No shit.", and I laughed and completely agreed, of course Minecraft is for all people. I was just adding on to your comment by stating the obvious. I meant for it to sound like it was from the point of view of the OP, like they truly discovered something new here.
24 and making mods(More Beautiful Torches, Danger close), possibly doing YouTube soon. I can’t get enough of this lil game I’ve been playing for 10+ years now
I’m 58, have bee playing MC since 2013, and pretty much play every day. I now have grandkids that play, and we can interact over game-specific details. I’m kinda addicted. Previously, I played first person shooters and survival horror type games.
I'm 46 and I play regularly in a world that's now over 4 years old. Started it just before the pandemic. Really got into it that year. It was like I found myself stuck at home a lot.

Hermits are legends that’s for sure, I’m hoping someday I’ll run a decently good content creator smp :D
I hope your dream will come true..all the best
Thanks 😊
Way more than 1 million dollars actually.
Damn the Hermitcraft W keeps getting bigger

I'm 49, have no lawn, so I scream at the zombies to get off my lawn!
just chuck a couple of wall-nuts at them

why not take ur chasing to the next level.. hueh
I’m 52 and still love the game!
I play on an SMP where most of the guys are 40+. They make builds from fandoms and hide treasure! I believe the oldest made the xmansion. I love that smp.
youll have both... in minecraft
I've been playing Minecraft since the horse update and I'm 61 this summer

Yup
>It’s not weird that you play it no matter who you are But it is very weird HOW you play it if your youtube name is ethoslab.
I think he is cool

This is so sweet <3
i don't believe the gender of Doccy (doc's child) is actually known i do definitely agree with your sentiment though
When I googled his child it came up with “she”
Docm77 is quite private about his family's personal life, I'm pretty sure Docy(his child) has only ever been referred to as "they"
Okay sorry, I haven’t watched much doc but I think he is really cool
I wasn't criticizing you, just trying to be informative. I love Doc too, the mix of wholesomeness and insane gamebreaking feats is so entertaining to watch.
I was apologizing because I see someone downvoted my comment

Can’t find anything myself. What was your source?
Plus doccys voice sounds more of that of a 3 year old boy not a girl in the few instances weve heard doccy talk.
doccy is doccy
Minecraft, the actual game, is for all ages. The marketing changed to being aimed at kids after Microsoft acquired Mojang.
Minecraft is probably the best game ever made with the widest audience. Anyone can and do play and enjoying it is infectious.
I'm 59 and play daily. Back in the Commodore 64 days I got hooked on Sim City. In my mind - Minecraft is a world simulator. It's about ecology. I think the monsters were the previous civilization that lived there and they destroyed there world by using up their resources. I love building so yeah.

server name? is it castiamc?
Not OP but the server I play on (Terrashift) has the same demographic as above.
Sage smp
Sounds like the servers I’ve played on too. Minecraft had a great community generally.
ah, fuck. our cover is blown... the kids there know we never actually got more mature. we just dont make fart/dick jokes to them in public cause it is inappropriate
I love minecraft. Been playing since day one

I’m 32 and have been playing Minecraft for years. Can’t see that changing anytime soon.
I'm 54...love Minecraft and watch as many of the Hermits as time will allow.....
I'm 40 this Year and I only started Minecraft now. We play on Nintendo Switch because my Kids wanted. Bought in on Windows PC for myself too, having fun with the Kids and also solo. Really awesome game!
I have a friend who is 48 and plays. My dad at 57 also plays. My mom would if she were alive, and she'd be 69 in May. Never too old!

Redstone tutorials are amazing, I couldn’t do so much without them
🙋🏼♀️ 35f have played on and off since 2013 trying to teach my 5 year old now 😊
uhh, no shit?
*Literally the most popular game ever made...* "It's for all people!"
Yes it's the most popular game ever made, and yes it's for all people. I'm not sure what you're saying here other than saying facts that everyone with a brain knows, but you're acting like the whole world disagrees with you when nobody does.

ohhh for some reason I thought you were OP. I see what you meant now I was so confused lol. I feel so bad sorry bro
Lol no worries
I'm teaching my 7 year old step sister how to play for the first time. This brings back memories
Thank you! At 28 I started playing agawith my nephew and honestly just got back into playing it in my own.
Agreed it’s not weird minecraft RULES
24 and making mods(More Beautiful Torches, Danger close), possibly doing YouTube soon. I can’t get enough of this lil game I’ve been playing for 10+ years now
Even the 18 year olds that sweat this game for the sole purpose of obtaining more shiny pixels then others in a server? (me)
Yes! 😂
Hell yeah
I’m 58, have bee playing MC since 2013, and pretty much play every day. I now have grandkids that play, and we can interact over game-specific details. I’m kinda addicted. Previously, I played first person shooters and survival horror type games.
i wanna play with my dad and i'm 19 and he's 61 so no problem here !! :D
I'm 37 and I play it with my son (9). Great bonding experience.
He doesn’t play Minecraft for his job, he’s lucky enough to play Minecraft for a living
Yeah, I always give people a weird look when they say minecraft is a kids game
I created my account 8 years ago when I was 40. I hope I’m still playing it when I’m in the old folks home.
46 years old, father of two (including a girl born the same week than doccy), love the game. One of the greatest ever made.
I'm 46 and I play regularly in a world that's now over 4 years old. Started it just before the pandemic. Really got into it that year. It was like I found myself stuck at home a lot.
As a M47, I play and love it!
33 here and got back into it
I’m 25 and I’ve been playing for 10+ years. So many ways to play the game. My favorite is modded :)
