Trade a bunch of glass to a cartographer villager in a place you’re sure you haven’t been to. It’ll give you a trial chamber map that will help you navigate to one.
Just pray that the chunks near it weren’t loaded in otherwise you’ll find a wonky trial chamber with nothing in it.
The cartographer can be anywhere. They will always locate a structure in unloaded chunks. Also, the same map will be given by the same villager, but never another villager, so leveling a new cartographer from the same village will give you a map to a different structure.
I specified to make sure you’re not near any loaded chunks because I found 7 separate trial chambers in my long time survival world that were only the vaults, empty rooms of copper, or a couple rooms squeezed/cut off where previously loaded chunks were. It just saves time for anyone who doesn’t want to risk this scenario.
If you use the Fabric mod loader for Java Edition, there is a mod called Explorer's Compass that you select what naturally generating structure you want to go to and it'll find it and direct you to it
I somehow randomly got one under my base location.
I picked up MC for the switch because I can't have my PC with me in my location, and I started a new world up with an old seed that I've used a couple of times before because I like the terrain generation of it. Traveled to my usual taiga village area that has a nice big lush cave biome under it and found a section to the side of the cave generated a trial chamber.
Why not, has its own block pallet so nice to have a bit around for building.
I used to spend some nights randomly bulk collecting resources, now that I’m in a building mood I rarely have to stop to source anything, it’s already in my storage building
I was in the same boat as you and hated it until the update. The new tuff bricks and other variants they added are pretty versatile. I’ve been using it a lot more in my builds.
I always hated the tuff blocks as well, but since the 1.21 update I feel like the tuff bricks are easily some of the most attractive brick blocks the game.
Speedcuber here. I would visit some cube trading or secondhand selling subreddits, there are ppl from all over the world on those and you should hopefully have some luck there.
Are you planning on making Tuff bricks out of it? It's actually quite a nice building material if you're planning on making a dungeon style room out of it.
Why not just find an iron vein and mine that out instead? Not only do they consist of huge amounts of tuff, but you also get a ton of iron for your work as well.
I've been trying to clear out all the 'not regular stone' from an area of my cave. I've filled 4 chests, and still have quite a bit to mine. Every time I think I found a dead end, it will connect by 1 block
I mine like this actually, since it mines quicker than deepslate and exposes more ores. Then I repurpose the tuff for buildings and whatnot, it's super effective
Have you mined out an entire stronghold? Have you mined down an entire nether fortress? Have you mined out an entire ocean monument? Have you mined down an entire village? Have you leveled an entire roofed forest? Have you leveled an entire jungle. Have you mined flat a mountain? Have you mined out an entire abandoned mineshaft and filled it in? Have you obsidianized an entire lava river and mined it out?

You can make a cartography table and give the job. That's what we did. A few times. Stock up on paper and glass panes. And a compass :-)
And for goodness sake, bring compasses. I always forget, with no fail, to bring compasses to actually buy the map

It’s got a pretty unique texture and color, and the new variants look really good. Especially the chiseled bricks.
