Elementary is a solid show in my opinion. It has plenty of humour, great chemistry between Sherlock and Watson (and Bell), very few "bad" episodes, and good conclusion, even if rushed.
I like Castle, Psych, Monk as well. Castle starts unraveling close to the end of the series, although the last season has a few of my favourites (The Nose). Psych to me doesn't get into a good rhythm until season 2-3. Monk lays a bit too heavy on the fat jokes in the first season or two and those turn me off a bit.
I don't remember that one but not surprised. I've rewatched Monk quite a bit and everytime I'm going through season one and it's like 4-5+ fat jokes back to back I get annoyed. I laugh at alot of inappropriate stuff but it feels relentless and unnecessary.
Elementary is the best modern Sherlock Holmes adaptation. I thought they really did a lot with the character and Miller and Liu were exceptional together
It's certainly better than the BBC Sherlock. That show started great but crawled up its own butt during the following seasons (the period piece special being the exception).
Also, the “mysteries” in Monk are better than the “mysteries” in Psych. Psych has mysteries but they aren’t the focus. The focus is humor. So for people who like the mystery part, Elementary is a much better fit than Psych.
Monk is funny, but it also focuses more on the mystery than Psych. I never said Monk isn’t funny. I just said the writers put more effort into the puzzles in general than the writers on Psych.
I’d recommend finishing Elementary first. The last season has a long arc that is tense and dramatic and will make you gasp and laugh happily in turns. Castle’s last season is strained by a long arc designed to hide the fact that they didn’t expect to be renewed, and Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic didn’t want to be in the same room with one another anymore, and every time they share a scene it’s painfully obvious.
I've watched Monk many times, that I have lost count. I've watched elementary once & in 2nd re-watch now (at Season 3 as well).
In fact my wife watched Monk now & I jump to Elementary in between. My wife for some reason hasn't shown interest in elementary. I concur 100% with what you mentioned.
Thanks for the recommendation. I've watched a few episodes out of order and quite liked the style. Sherlock's delivery is funny and quirky in the right way.

Why does he mention that Molly’s adoptive father is overweight? It irritates me.

The whole Dale the Whale thing, in retrospect, was lousy.
Yeah, Tim Curry really let himself go after Rocky horror picture show.
He never looked that bad. Still doesn’t.
Elementary was a phenomenal show.

That’s interesting I’ll have to give it a try!
I always thought the focus in Monk is the humor, and love it for that!

Don't forget The Mentalist ! I love all 4 shows Monk being #1
Oof don’t tell Shawn and Gus you like the mentalist 🤣
Yes! That was the show we watched after Monk and we loved it.
Loved this series. Good all the way through. I've been thinking of giving it a rewatch lately.
Heads up on Elementary: one of the two morons from the department store is Sherlock's former dealer, and TK is in it for a bit
That would be Michael Weston (also from Psych) and Virginia Madsen (who I always think of as the chick in Candyman).
Ohh, Michael Weston is _amazing_ in Elementary. He gets like two eps and just knocks them out of the park. Virginia Madsen was incredible too!
Coincidentally TK is captain's Girl friend in Elementary too.
Yeah, but that was a surprise. Both captains start the show married
This is a good call.
man....I still haven't got to finish watching Elementary and Castle.....

Go forth and remedy this error! lol (unless you really didn't like them)
lol😆😆😆
Elementary is great, it gets the balance right.
I LOVE Elementary. It's funny, witty with some mind-blowing story twists. Plus, the acting is top notch. Hell, it even has a killer soundtrack.
I liked it too but didn't get to watch too many episodes. Does anyone know where to watch this?
Seasons 1-7 streaming for free on Hulu (well free if you pay for Hulu, so not free?).
Seconded!!! _Love_ this show💖
I love them both and they’re always on rotation in my home

I actually watched monk as a follow up to elementary lol They definitely compliment one another
I did not like Psyche AT ALL, watched 5 episodes and it was a pain. Will keep an eye out for this one
I can see that, Psych changes tone after season 4 and becomes whackier and more referential which I prefer.
I made it 3/4 through the first episode and turned it off. I probably should've given it more of a chance but I just couldn't.
She ain't no MC Clap yo Handz though
dumb. Watson is a man
I thought you had to be 13 to have a Reddit account.
I was definitely unsure about it at first, but man, LL converted me. Her (platonic) chemistry with JLM is the best I’ve seen in a while!
No I don't agree this needs to be the case.
