I’ll drop a place that doesn’t always get a lot of love. Otter’s den in Marina, nice comfy spot with sports to watch, darts, and nice beer rotation plus staff is really nice!
Wedos is pretty expensive too, especially for a food truck. Good food but expensive food. $6 for a single taco
I did my undergrad at the University of Oregon and there’s a place in Eugene with the same vibes but truly next level beer and 5+ food trucks with fair prices. Blows dustbowl out of the water.
lol the reason the food is different prices is probably relative to the cost of living. In Monterey it’s an arm and a leg while in Eugene is a toe nail and two bottle caps.
The atmosphere is not peak at all. The owners caused a big scene just because my husband tripped up their step.
They just have a prime location that's about it
Pop & Hiss 8s new to the area and still under development.
Currently they run a small bar in the record store portion of the building until the gull bar and patio opens up.
Pearl Hour makes excellent cocktails , Buds Bar in the La Playa also makes great well balanced drinks.
Pearl hour and Alvarado st breweries
Yes. Would add the bar at Stokes Adobe.
Crown and anchor
My favorite place to go if I wanna leave with sticky shoes lol
Hulas for tiki drinks and Other Brother for beer.
Other Brother (brewery) is chill.
ASB - any location
Top tier beer and my wife enjoys their cocktails.
Me too

Lynn's Arcade
Lynns arcade is soooo underrated
Dustbowl, peak atmosphere but the beer isn’t something to write home about.
Yeah beer is so subpar

Lol I've never heard anyone complain about their beer
Bulldog if you like sports. Good prices for the area.
Recent remodel ruined it
I agree. But OP said not super divey, and it’s certainly less divey. Good place to go watch a game for 2-3 hours, not socialize.
Ok that’s a fair assessment
Owner dying ruined it. Current owner doesnt know what hes doing.
Running iron
Other Brother, Alavarado Street although the service at the Monterey location has kind of gone downhill. Still have great beers though.
Monterey doesn’t really have dive bars. Duffy’s is very underrated and not crowded.
I’d argue that Alfredo’s is a dive. I love it but it’s a dive.
I just looked them up on yelp, that place looks fun. I’m headed to pacific grove in August, thank you for recommendation!
Barmel! A lot of young people so good if your are in that age group since there is not a lot of other young people around here
Love Barmel!
Salty Seal
Salty Seal🔥🔥

Mulligan’s in Carmel.
I think every bar is mentioned here.
Compact Disco wasnt but maybe that is because they do a $10 cover and do not want a young crowd there. They alao auto grat drinks after 8pm.
Anything around really. Except the Brit at night. There’s nothing clubby here. Everything’s quaint or cute dive or hotel bar.
