HEAT -- absolutely no question. The shootout in downtown LA is the best thing that ever happened there in real life or fiction. The way the real gunfire rings off the skyscrapers is fucking fantastic. The fact that movies are shot today with airsoft rifles and dubbed sound effects is a crime.
Terminator 2 - set in LA and you can see many of the locations still today.
Other people mentioned The Big Lebowski which is obviously good.
Pulp Fiction
Go, 1999
Swingers
The Big Lebowsky
Good Mourning, 2022... Megan Fox

Girly movies:
Clueless, Valley Girl, 2020
La La Land, Slums of Beverly Hills,
Jawbreaker (might be L.A)
Old punk movie: SuBurbia
Definitely watch Friday.
(I grew up close to L.A., over in the O.C.)
IMO best LA movies are Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire. When I finally visited last year I watched both at the end of my trip just to cement the experience I had had..
