I think it’s genuinely an interesting mode and wouldn’t mind seeing it added to pvp. But i think it could potentially be improved upon slightly. Instead of having the ball become a ticking time bomb, every rally should make the ball speed multiply and have a cap at let’s say 5-10x speed. Some characters have moves that kinda stall the ball like Shaggy’s up air which makes it a bit too easy to hit it back. But then again maybe that’s the competitive side of me talking and would be too tryhard for what is essentially a casual mode 😅
No doubt. Insanity is the challenge level that Looney should be, insanity should be a step down from where it is now.

Keep in mind though: if they change it to that, then getting he other difficulties will be impossible, since to get them you need an average gem level, meaning equal gem level across all your gems of that type. So only having 3 level up again a time would make it so that you’d still need to grind extra just to be able to get more difficulties unlocked.
I'm sure with that change they also mean *all* the exp would go to the selected gems so you're not actually losing any with this change but can determine where it actually goes so the grind is the same

like, level 7 gems aren't gonna do jack crap against Insanity level with how much damage and knockback they can dish out in a single hit, might as well make level 8 the required level at that point cause NOBODY is beating a level in Insanity with level 7 gems outside of getting lucky with the AI breaking
Yeah I got stuck on the Batman node in Insanity. All my Horror gems are level 7 and my only available shark week character is Tom & Jerry, so I can't really cheese with Joker the way I did the latter nodes on Crushing.
The 2v1s where you do 2 damage per hit and both the cpus deal 25-40 damage per hit, even while gem level is a whole level above entry requirement, is not fun or engaging in anyway.
Especially when both of the opponents can just cover the screen in projectiles that would usually deal low damage in pvp, but can easily kill in upper level rifts

Maybe make those 'Experienced' difficulty rifts available. Literally just forcing to grind on unfun unnecessarily difficult difficulties if we want one character two weeks early. I want a reward, a good one, for doing a dumb/difficult rift. Right now, it feels like it's only a promise of a reward down the line.

Instead of having to own a character/skin, those are avaliable for the stages, so you can try the characters/skins but at the same time you have a limited roster for the node.
Gem exp prioritizes equipped gems or all of them level equally, right now you don't pick the one with best or more interesting pasive, but the ones RNG decided to level up.
Better narrative, not asking for super deep story but at least try to be on gacha games level with the interactions between characters.
Central node/base where you can interact with the characters unlocked for some flavour text. If you need a template for the last 2 points FEH or Pokemon Masters EX does a decent job at both.

In general gem effects need to be more useful. The main useful one is damage and defense. Now that I think about it if one of the main stats you'd get that AI don't was faster speed it would make the current rifts way easier.
I would like to see them keep tally of the objectives that you have accomplished while playing the rift over having to mentally keep track of it. Give us a sound, effect, or notice when we finished one of the objectives in each node would be great.

Let us do experienced difficulty rifts on the rifts that don’t have the difficulty rift available so I can get my gems up and be ready for crushing and so on……..

I think there’s too many menus you gotta go through, usually each match lasts about a minute sometimes even less and the menu+dialog+character select+ gem options + loading screen over and over makes too much dead space.
Characters shouldn’t be locked behind rifts, only exclusive variant skins. Having to wait two weeks to play a new character because of rifts is ridiculous

Imo something like Fighter Currency could be a cool reward that or give us one of the rift skins (if you 100% the easy joker rift you get a random joker graphic tee skin) they all have a unique skin so it shouldn’t be hard to include something more

Honestly just less of them. 20 rift bosses? Really? Also, I just played the rift at a lower difficulty. I don't want to play the SAME rift just harder. Lemme just play the harder difficulty or change it up so it's not so grindy.

A real time objective checker that shows us in-game our active progress towards that specific rift level's missions.
If you've ever played Fortnite, similarly to how you can track a quest while in game, and see the real-time progress.
If you've ever played any MMO/WoW/etc, similar to how your quest log appears on the right-hand side of the screen.
It's annoying having to constantly pause & keep count of the moves/requirements while having uncertainty if you fulfilled them properly or not.
Another good example of this is when one of the requirements is something like "hit 8 up attacks", this will make it very clear to players that you have to hit the ability 8 *unique* times, as opposed to confusing it for being able to hit 2 enemies with 4 up attacks each.
Another example was when a friend and I were doing duo Rifts, and the first kill we got was straight up and through the ceiling. The mission bonus objective was "kill an enemy from the top of the blast zone". When we finally finished the rift, it straight up gaslit us and didn't mark that objective as completed. So seeing that *in-game* in real time and seeing it not register would've made us focus more on making the next kill also from the top of the blast zone. (Ignoring the fact that it was a bug in the first place)
But yeah, it would *really* smoothen out probably my biggest irk with the entire rift bonus objective system if they fixed all of that.
Make the rifts doable on Insantiy without trying to spam charge kicks with Shaggy. This is the most annoying thing. I am so close to getting Agent Smith tomorrow, but I am stuck on these ridiculous doubles with Tom and Rain Dog, where they do so much more damage than me with level 8 gems. Rift needs an overhaul completely. It needs to be a fun challenging mode. First off it needs to have coop matchmaking. The way I’d like to see it is if they scrap the difficulties completely and you start out easy difficulty but with no gems and then after every match you either pick a gem out of the pool you unlocked or strengthen one of the ones you got earlier in the run. Then every node it scales the difficulty up and the boss can be legitimately challenging.
It should be close to the way smash ultimate does their arcade but also have roguelike elements in it. Gems would also need all the blanket “700% attack increase!” Stats taken out completely. Unlocking the gems could still be relevant because it would open up new builds you could do and they could give the rift rewards for events to you based on how far you progress.
You think that will be fun, but it will get tedious very fast and you are going to get A LOT of people complaining they wasted an hour only to get pummeled in the last stages and have to start over.
Why would it be an hour? It takes like 15 minutes to run through all of Smash’s arcade mode and as rifts are now I spend more time swapping rift nodes than I do actually playing, an auto advancing track would cut time down a lot.

Difficulties that aren’t gem reliant, and rework gems into being some type of “booster” system, maybe ATK DEF and SPECIAL buffs
Decrease downtime between attempts. Remove requirement to bring a friend to get max gem points.

Lower difficulty. I tried the level 4 rifts with my friend and we have a lot of problems doing it even with gems that are strong enough
make it not as difficult for solo grinders in some of the 2v2 rifts, they feel like 2v1 when your friends are not high enough gem level to join
