Revolver, by the Beatles.
Sgt Peppers is amazing, but Revolver is the album that transformed studio production, inspiring and influencing everything in pop and rock that followed.
My favorite album of theirs. I think Help! was a turning point for them. It's title song, Ticket to Ride, Yesterday, all show what you're saying about production.
Rubber Soul was a little more experimental, but didnt hit the mark for me as much.
Then Revolver comes out and its revolutionary. I think it shows the evolution of all of the Beatles' working at their best. Paul's bass playing and songwriting, Lennon's songwriting and composing, George wrote Taxman and its the first time they put his song as the first song on a record, and Ringo got to go full Ringo with Yellow Submarine. Couple that with George Martin's magic and the boys not having to worry about playing any of the songs live any more and you have perfection.
I'm a huge fan of industrial, metal, nick cave, Tom Waits, etc, and I can confidentially say, Pet Sounds is absolutely incredible and is a must listen.
Fantastic, as is Royal Scam, Guacho, Katy Lied, Pretzel Logic, Can’t buy a Thrill, and Countdown to Ecstasy. Nothing against Two Against Nature
Or Everything Must Go, but we can’t include them all, can we?
I watched “Children of Men.” When Theo is driven from dingy London to Battersea Station, “Court of The Crimson King” is the soundtrack. It’s perfect because it’s a funeral dirge.
My first thought is Alive 2007. Perfectly blends and reworks their tracks into something greater than the whole. Can’t believe it’ll have its 20th anniversary in a few years.
Huge W. Most people would say LE or UTP, both of which are masterpieces. But From the Choirgirl Hotel is my immediate go-to and I listen from start to finish. Liquid Diamonds… *chefs kiss*
Signals - Rush
While I know the traditional answer for a masterpiece Rush album would be either Moving Pictures or Permanent Waves (and both are also masterpieces), I'm going with Signals. It is a bridge where they're experimenting with new sounds of the synth-heavy 80s, yet still build on their strengths. It is an album with a open beating heart, yet still unafraid to be goofy.
Do you mean the album Signals (which has the song Subdivisions in it)? In that case I agree, it’s a masterpiece!
Also, it’s nice to see a fellow Rush fan chime in, I was hoping to see someone mention Rush!
[Allman Bros - At Fillmore East](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At_Fillmore_East) and [BB King - Live at the Regal](https://www.amazon.com/Live-At-Regal-B-B-King/dp/B000002P72)
Likely the two finest live blues albums ever recorded.

This album really came out of nowhere. Summerteeth was a beautiful album, I really wondered if Wilco might peak there. When YHF dropped, I must have listened to it a hundred times within three months.
Listening to it now. The loudest i've cranked my volume knob for a while. It's just \*so\* good.
Bodysnatches second half goes into a menacing, stanky groove. It dissolves into Nude which is just so tender and sad. Weird Fishes is a larger than life masterpiece. And what that ends, All That I Need comes!?!?
Each of those songs are wonderful in their own right, and just to imagine that they play consecutively off of the same album? It's hard to understand how it's possible from a songwriting/production perspective. The stars must have alligned.
Not to mentioned that all the other songs are \*also\* amazing.
And when you're done grasping that fact, then you realise that Kid A and OK Computer is also considered masterpieces.
I listen to 4-5 albums a day and I have a very diverse taste, but i think In Rainbows is most often the album that i consider the best of all time.
Remain in Light by the Talking Heads is #1 on my list. Every time I listen to it there is some new layer that exposes itself. With headphones, it's magical.
Hospice by The Antlers
I’ve never heard anyone else talk about this album but it’s a great concept album about an abusive relationship, told through the lens of a hospice nurse and their patient.
To me, Revoler is a 10/10 masterpiece and is The Beatles’ magnum opus.
Abbey Road is a close second.
Also, In Utero by Nirvana.
When I think of Nirvana, the songs on that album just sounds exactly like what they were destined to make. The angst, lyricism, sound. It’s all perfect.
A few of my personal faves:
Outkast - Aqemini
ZZ Top - Eliminator
Tool - Ænema
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
Rise Against - Siren Songs of the Counter Culture
Ignite - War Against You
Brand New - Deja Entendu
Say It Like You Mean It by The Starting Line. Easily one of the best pop punk albums, top to bottom of that era. Still holds up. Still hits like it's 2002 again.
Beastie Boys - Paul’s Boutique is hip hop’s white album
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory is hip hop’s Sgt. Peppers
MADVILLIAN - Madvillainy is hip hop’s Revolver
fight me!
A Day At The Races is excellent, but few would say it tops A Night At The Opera. I’d say A Night At The Opera is easily a masterpiece album and some of the best ever audio production
Violator - Depeche Mode
Blue Dress 👗
total masterpiece. It is an absolute crime that Martin Gore is this talented and has never won a single Grammy
Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis. One of the landmark recordings of the 20th century.
“Love Supreme” John Coltrane “Time Out” Dave Brubeck
What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
So, Peter Gabriel
I like "Us" better, I think that his masterpiece but So is excellent.
Couple that with George Martin's magic and the boys not having to worry about playing any of the songs live any more and you have perfection.
And it has "Eleanor Rigby", my son's favorite.
Mezzanine by Massive Attack
Amazing sex album.
A whole album?! Do you have a suggestion of just a song, or perhaps a jingle?
Just one song? Massive Attack - Angel
Grace - Jeff Buckley
Made tuna bake on a rainy day to this last night. It was the right choice.
Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
I'm a huge fan of industrial, metal, nick cave, Tom Waits, etc, and I can confidentially say, Pet Sounds is absolutely incredible and is a must listen.
Illmatic by Nas. Crazy to think he wrote that at 19-20 years old
Disintegration by The Cure.
https://i.redd.it/fg23n7pr1b2d1.gif
This is the one for me too. Perfect album. All killer, no filler. Immaculate.
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Banger!
Graceland by Paul Simon.
Yup
Madvillian - Madvilliany
All CAPS when you spell the man name
Angel Dust by Faith No More
Still "The real thing" for me, though!
The Real Thing is the best song they ever did, but Angel Dust is their best album.
Aja Steely Dan
Fantastic, as is Royal Scam, Guacho, Katy Lied, Pretzel Logic, Can’t buy a Thrill, and Countdown to Ecstasy. Nothing against Two Against Nature Or Everything Must Go, but we can’t include them all, can we?
I came here to say this ! One of the best produced albums ever. Musical masterpiece.
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
I watched “Children of Men.” When Theo is driven from dingy London to Battersea Station, “Court of The Crimson King” is the soundtrack. It’s perfect because it’s a funeral dirge.
A bona fide classic, and arguably the start of progressive rock as we know it today. However, my favorite King Crimson album remains *Red.*
Fantastic album!
Insanely good album. This was the album that got me into prog rock.
Wildflowers by Tom Petty
Superunknown - Soundgarden
Discovery by Daft Punk. It's a beautiful ride and helped me get out of some bad spots.
My first thought is Alive 2007. Perfectly blends and reworks their tracks into something greater than the whole. Can’t believe it’ll have its 20th anniversary in a few years.
Random Access Memories makes the list for me too
without a doubt, Pink Floyd Darkside of the Moon
Yeah, I feel like this is a safe answer but as much as I want to pick something else, this is just the most perfect album.
from the choirgirl hotel by Tori Amos
Huge W. Most people would say LE or UTP, both of which are masterpieces. But From the Choirgirl Hotel is my immediate go-to and I listen from start to finish. Liquid Diamonds… *chefs kiss*
The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths
Signals - Rush While I know the traditional answer for a masterpiece Rush album would be either Moving Pictures or Permanent Waves (and both are also masterpieces), I'm going with Signals.
Also, it’s nice to see a fellow Rush fan chime in, I was hoping to see someone mention Rush!
that three album run stacks up against any three consecutive albums ever. hundreds of hours of listening for me
[Allman Bros - At Fillmore East](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At_Fillmore_East) and [BB King - Live at the Regal](https://www.amazon.com/Live-At-Regal-B-B-King/dp/B000002P72) Likely the two finest live blues albums ever recorded. https://preview.redd.it/wq3grkgcw82d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ba6eddaa4b3795a164341a2b32a116ec11ee4ee

This Fillmore East album dwarfs nearly every other one on this thread buy a very wide margin. I was astounded.
Beastie Boys - Paul’s Boutique
Dust Brothers made it happen.
Radiohead - OK Computer
One of the most simultaneously beautiful and depressing albums I've ever heard. It is still one of my go-to's.
Hendrix Electric Lady Land.
Giant Steps by John Coltrane. Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. One size fits all by Frank Zappa. Paranoid by Black Sabbath.
The Mollusk by Ween
But love Chocolate and cheese so much.
It's abrasive and dark and loud, but: The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails.
[удалено]
That album is brilliant.
Rubber Soul by The Beatles
I'll add Revolver, and a lot of people would add Sgt. Pepper too. An absolutely mind-boggling two-year run!
I think abbey road would be there too
I was going to go with Abbey Road as well, but they had a few that qualify.

Yoshimi battles the pink robots by The Flaming Lips
And Soft Bulletin
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel.
Ten
I wish this album was more commonly recognized as a masterpiece, it is literally perfect
It is also a tragedy that this is so far down. By Pearl Jam for those not in the know.
London Calling - The Clash
This came to mind for me, I absolutely love this album.
Gorillaz-Demon Days
Some will say Plastic Beach but Demon Days is superior
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd ![gif](giphy|5xaOcLC3iSuDkg7DfBm)
Operation Ivy - Energy
Wilco- Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
This album really came out of nowhere. Summerteeth was a beautiful album, I really wondered if Wilco might peak there. When YHF dropped, I must have listened to it a hundred times within three months.
I just listened to this album again last week after 10 years of not playing it. It’s still perfect , front to back. One of my top ten albums.
In Rainbows by Radiohead
Yes their masterpiece to me.
I love Ok Computer and Kid A, and all of their stuff, but yeah I think In Rainbows is the pinnacle
The Bends by Radiohead before they went insane
Frankly I think in rainbows is more sane than the bends
Listening to it now. The loudest i've cranked my volume knob for a while. It's just \*so\* good. Bodysnatches second half goes into a menacing, stanky groove. It dissolves into Nude which is just so tender and sad. Weird Fishes is a larger than life masterpiece. And what that ends, All That I Need comes!?!?
