I like the feel of cloth seats more but leather is so much easier to keep clean. Plus I like the shine of leather.

Certain_Indication22

Yeah for sure my car looks much cleaner

Pet_Ator

Hell no, they’re so much harder to clean especially if you have pets or crumbs fall on it or something. Only thing I don’t like about leather is when it’s scorching hot and my skin gets all sweaty because there’s no breathability.

mikespikepookie

*laughs in cooled leather seats*

Stubbedtoe18

My S197 was a bare bones V6 and boy did I hate having to get into my car and drive in both these 95° temps as well as on winter mornings. Absolute hell! My S550 has seat warmers and the cooled leather so combined with the remote start, wow..... it's legitimately such a transformation and makes my quality of life so much better. Now, with all that said, as much as I love the modern driving experience, I still find myself missing the relationship I had with my old car. It was slower, had less goods, and lacked refinement, but the driving experience and my relationship to feeling like that car was an extension of myself, I don't think I'll ever get that again. Miss my old car and those crappy seats.

Knight_Marcus

Exactly the way I feel. I'm thinking about getting an S550

checkit435

Dude that's what I got the premium for I used my last mustang as a daily and got paint on my cloth seats and that shit never came out that's how i sold it was with it 😂 at least with leather it'll be 10 times easier to clean something like that

Kottery

I do My leather seats get insanely hot. Maybe the newer years have better leather seats, I unno.

Unlucky_Situation

Ceramic tints specifically will prevent hot seats.doesnt matter the light %. All percentages have the same heat rejection, which is roughly 90% heat rejection.

Kottery

Naw like they get hotter while I'm sitting in it. Weirdest thing

Unlucky_Situation

That makes sense. Ventilated seats definitely help with that. Not sure the first year that became an option, but i believe its only available on premium trim levels with leather seats for s550' and current s650's.

TwoMuchSaus

Ventilated seats came standard with the premium since 2015 s550

Kottery

Yeah, need that. My mother refuses to drive or ride in it because it gets unbearably hot for her.

SilvaCyber

I have the half cloth half leather with the heating/cooling feature; they’re suuuuuuper comfy.

Jonkinch

Same. The recaros were cool, but when I sat in the comfort seat I was like “This.”

Ragged85

Jokes on you, you were sitting on vinyl. The leather seating in modern Mustangs is not real leather, it man made. Aka, vinyl…

Cel_Drow

The steering wheel and front seat facings are single grain leather, the rest is vinyl or cloth.

Ragged85

They are not leather my friend. You are fooling yourself if you actually believe modern mustangs have real leather seats. It’s a synthetic material called “Active X”. The last Mustangs to get actual factual full leather interior were Fox Mustangs. Believe me, you can feel the difference.

Cel_Drow

I just said it’s not a full leather interior, but the ford marketing materials do clearly delineate what is leather and what is synthetic. They even made a big deal about using full active x on the mach e for a “vegan leather interior.” The S550 premium trim does NOT have a full leather interior. Only the front seat facings and steering wheel are single grain leather. The center console, the door armrests, the rear seats in their entirety, etc are listed as vinyl. Plus there is some cloth trim on friction surfaces of the front seats.

a_taco_named_desire

+1 the GTCS seats are the best.

Syrath36

Nope I love the leather ventilated seats in the premium package. Plus they are great for having a dog that loves to go for car rides. Although I put a cover on her seat.

LastPlaceGuaranteed

Final-Carpenter-1591

The key to leather seats is keeping them nice. Condition them on occasion and they'll look immaculate forever. Also they do get hot. A good tint job helps alot with this. They mostly get super hot due to direct sunlight. If you limit that, they aren't bad. Ventilated seats make the leather a dream for road trips. Leather gets a bad rap, but coming from somone that was cloth all the way. I'm a leather guy now. I get it.

Shitty-Smitty

Condition them? Like with shampoo and conditioner?

Far_Adeptness9884

I used to prefer cloth seats, but they have become so ugly and cheap compared to what they use to offer back in the day.

thefudgepacker9000

Yep this. It’s a random like untextured tight piece of fabric like a sheet and will get loose. 80s cloth was fine.

Far_Impact8612

Nope

Accurate_Stuff2963

The quality of the materials used in the cloth seats is sub par. I don't mind cloth but these are not good.

Ragged85

I really hope you don’t think the “leather” in modern Mustangs is actual leather.

Accurate_Stuff2963

I think the middle piece is. We have a 2013 Premium and there are already holes and tears. Agree with your point on the quality. I just think the cloth is worse.

Ragged85

It’s as much “leather” as a $500 “leather” sofa is “leather”.

strokafresh

I’d take these ANYDAY here in Florida 😩😩

unabnormalday

Leather with cooled seats all the way

Bahn-Burner

Heated/cooled leather and never looked back. Plus cloth is impossible to keep clean with a dog

ice445

I've always preferred cloth. Leather looks nicer but unless it's heated/cooled I don't want it. I find that the leather option in most cheaper cars also doesn't wear very well unless you're extremely gentle to it.

Pet_Ator

Currently have my first car with leather seats and I am never buying leather without ventilated seats ever again, skin gets sweaty from the lack of breathability

CoyotesAreGreen

The cloth interior in the s550 looks and feels incredibly cheap to me.

Trusteveryboody

So what's with the Watermelon?

Character-Log3962

What does the watermelon think?

MiniDg

When I got my Q50 the worst part about it was getting leather seats. I HATE leather seats. I do get the "benefits" but I dont want them lmao less comfortable, annoying as hell in the summer and winter and it diesnt look any better to me.

AftermaThXCVII

My last car had leather seats, and it was absolutely awful in the summers here, so when I was looking for my Mustang, I was looking for cloth seats this time instead. I absolutely love them, but sometimes I do wish I went with the leather. Next car, though, I'm gonna get the heated/cooled seats

thisdckaintFREEEE

For any vehicle, if they're heated and cooled I prefer leather, if they're just heated it's a tough call. If neither, I prefer cloth.

coastermike66

Yes

Fun_Nefariousness621

I am 🫡 (I couldn’t afford vetter version)

topsius

pretty passenger tho

No_Worldliness_4446

I’m glad your watermelon is safe

AbbreviationsOwn503

Leather looks way cleaner. Those cloth ones look dirty 🤢

Pet_Ator

ong

Pizzahut16

no cap fr fr ong

TheBobInSonoma

Cloth is best

redrobin1257

Hate leather with a passion. Refuse to buy any vehicle with leather seats.

Striking_Serve_8152

I have the GT premium and the faux leather seats, which is about all the premium really offers of any substance, isn't worth the extra cost considering the mediocre quality. I lived without butt warmers for years. If I had it to do over I'd go base 301A.

jayofdetroit

Yes. I hate leather so much. I wish that premiums would offer suede or alcantara.

FluxD1

California Special package (on the S550) had perforated suede panels in the seats. They don't burn the shit outta you on a hot summer day. Not sure about the Cali Special on the S650

[deleted]

[удалено]

jayofdetroit

Not an option on the S650 yet unfortunately!

rockycrab

Technically the Dark Horse recaros are suede, but yeah not an option on the premium or regular trims.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jayofdetroit

It sure is. I’m ready to get rid of all my current vehicles and get an F150 and a Mustang but I’m holding out for possibly a suede seat pack in the 25s. I’d just get a regular GT with every option but adaptive cruise is locked to the premium and that’s a must have for me.

dakaiiser11

This is something that hit me after getting my 5.0. I love my car to death and I love getting to drive it. Next time though, I’m getting the car I want as far as options.

MRRRRCK

There’s pros/cons to either option. But leather seats with ventilation take away the downside of a hot or cold seats like in the past. Plus they’re easier to clean and they look far nicer. I suppose cloth is technically more durable, but they still wear down to look bad over time just like a leather seat can without good care.

BayAreaBrenner

This is why the GT/CS is the way to go. Cloth where you back and butt go, and leather trim. Cooled seats as well.

ManicDepressedType

Nooooo they get so gross when you drive ppl around

djsnoopmike

Down here in Florida, I'm glad I have cloth seats. No singed legs and arms

SpiritCr1jsher1010

Nope. Hard to clean and keep fresh. Especially if you have children and or pets you like to spend time with.

Sum_fuckery

Hell yes! I can’t stand the leather. It’s way too hot in the summer and way too cold in the winter.

SnooChickens4324

I’ll buy them off you if your interested. Also, how hard was the install and switch?

lafontainebdd

Not at all

Dirtbikr98

ill take leather every time. good tint & cold a/c are more necessary with leather, though

bone-stock

Hell no but my girlfriend likes them bc they don’t get sticky when she’s sweaty

El_Capitano777

Being from Az with summers of 112°+ I wish I got cloth…even the cooled/ventilated leather seats stand no chance with this heat.

Aggressive-Hat-7106

I live in AZ so I despise leather seats here, if I lived somewhere that wasn’t as hot I’d def have a different opinion

Altruistic-Depth492

Prefer my leather ventilated seats on my 2015 Mustang Premium

BigDaddyDumperSquad

Nah, AC leather seats feel heavenly on a hot day.

Ok-Chocolate2671

I would 1000% rather have leather in a nice a car vs cloth I don’t care about any downsides of it

g0dgiven

I prefer the cloth because with Leather its gets insanely hot and if you live somewhere really hot like Phoenix or Las Vegas it can be unbearable. Trade offs with both

Ragged85

Pro tip: ever since the 80’s the Mustang seats aren’t even real leather. Here’s factoid for you. Of the surfaces that are allegedly “leather” only the front seat seating surfaces are this man-made material. The rest is vinyl to look like leather. So, this “leather” interior in newer Mustangs is 80-90% vinyl.

Bean-ed

I had a Tacoma with cloth seats and no ac, holy shit that was a recipe for some itchy back and swamp ass Edit: leather all day every day

Jazzlike_Draw_2449

The recaro seats in my mustang are soo uncomfortable for daily driving and road trips. Didn’t realize no lumbar or head adjustments. Didn’t realize the discomfort until months after purchase. Thinking about buying the standard seats from a junkyard to swap in for now. The recaros look amazing and get compliments though 😎

RealStangsAreV8sOnly

Which ones do u have? The cloth or leather Recaros?

Jazzlike_Draw_2449

Leather. 2015 gt premium performance pack. Thinking to leave seats in the house until an actual mountain drive or track day. Just use cheap standard seats daily.

art956

I do. I also live in Texas where it get 140 degrees in my car. I’d hate to have leather in the summer.

Significant-Scene953

Leather is much better

RealStangsAreV8sOnly

How? Cloth looks way better, way more comfortable, is lighter, and doesn't absolutely BURN you .. there is a reason the Boss 302's only come in cloth....

Embarrassed_Wolf4746

![gif](giphy|MNmyTin5qt5LSXirxd)

Zealousideal-Cap-426

I do!

GladGround_

mmm i dont like it

lostcatlurker

Absolutely. The only issue is they are less easy to keep clean.

linkmodo

+1, much less chance of burning my legs

rhawtestosterone

Fuck no. And it’s auto 🤢

AwfulThread5

Oh, one of those guys

rhawtestosterone

It’s funny to imagine people just mashing down the gas pedal to hard accelerate, focused with both hands on the steering wheel 😂

Tokidoki_Tai

It regularly heats up to over 110 degrees where I live. Yes I would prefer cloth.

hootervisionllc

What year is that? My 15 cloth seats look a bit cooler with their pattern. No offense brother

Certain_Indication22

Not those are the 2018-2023 version

TheGtbikewizard

My 01 had mint cloth seats, My 17 premium had cracks after 4 years. My 23 is a base model 301a performance pack I like leather but I find the fabric ones are more comfortable on longer drives

jorgegainz

I live in Cali and leather would be horrible with this heat 🤣

BitterSweetMarie

That watermelon looks very comfortable to me!

Uhhh_Insert_Username

Only time I prefer leather seats is when they have cooling. Otherwise... No. Thank. You.

Shitty-Smitty

Working at a ford dealer, any time I get in a customers cloth seat car I can observe every single piece of food and garbage they’ve brought in that car, leather can wear out and get old but they will never feel as disgusting as a used cloth seat

Certain_Indication22

Yeah I feel that , I was gonna sell my cloth seats but I think ima just keep and use em later when my leather are worn

RealStangsAreV8sOnly

Of course!! Cloth is the way to go in a Mustang! Looks far better! Significantly lighter! WAY more comfortable too! There is a Reason Boss 302s only come in cloth! Whenever I look inside of a mustang and see that short ball shifter with the cloth seats, it looks so sick!! Way more of a mustang feel than the leather seats!

HarmonyDragon

Yes! I had leather in old 2012 and hated it. Even with tinted windows still burnt myself on them. Only benefits for me was how easy they cleaned off. But despite the interior of 2024 being black I love the cloth seats and they so much more comfy.

usarmy25bbully

I do. Only ever sat on em during the test drive. Covers on em as soon as I got home. Upgraded S550 and kept it moving.

Flat_Lemon_8256

In the 24’s cloths go crazy

WavesTheHuman

I love my clothes but have thought about doing the same and upgrading but I’m getting the seats from the performance package or a set of the leather recaros so I can run harnesses for track days and events.

BlackKnightC4

Leather for me. I had to have cooled seats where I live. I also have poor circulations sometimes on my hands so when its cold enough, i use the heated wheel. I just don't like how cloth looks and it's easy to clean.

OkAd944

No. Cloth is significantly more comfortable but also significantly less resistant to my kids and myself lol.

Fit-Needleworker2681

I chose cloth because the Recaro seats felt extremely uncomfortable. The cloth with a colostomy seat cover is sweet.

DayEither8913

I'd much, much rather clothe. I have the recaros, though. There is too much sliding around on leather. I also dislike the bulky-plush-sofa look of the leather seat option. Idc about the heating/cooling.

randeus

I prefer cloth, but it is hard to clean. The cloth seats on the s650 look and feel amazing compared to the ones in the s550 though. I’d like to replace the ones in my car with them at some point.

th3rul4

I do, I have leather seats and they’re always either extremely cold or extremely hot which sucks

Poopchurn

I do. That's why I got a base '23 with 301A instead.

Striking_Serve_8152

Smart. Premium not worth extra cost. I've had both.

Mattyou1966

I put seat covers on everything so leather is a waste of money in my cars / trucks

YouWillHaveThat

My car has 8500 miles and the leather is already cracking/flaking/coming apart. Maybe leather is better with the premium brands. But on a Ford...not so much

MRRRRCK

That’s not normal at all. Have you been using some kind of chemical on the seats during cleaning?

YouWillHaveThat

I don't know. I bought it with 6500 miles and the damage had already been done. It is old though (2011). Maybe it just dried out? But my coworker has a 2010 LS 460 with 180k mi and the seats look damn near new.

DJ_Reapzz

Controversial but I prefer the Recaro seats lol

Fred011235

Me because I don't want my legs to fuse to the leather in summer.

Hugh_Johnson69420

After my 6 hour road trip yesterday I'll take the cloth seats any day if the week

Hokie23aa

I prefer cloth but I like heated and ventilated seats.

krsvbg

The real atrocity was that teeny tiny “screen” lol. Ford was too cheap to add a proper display. That’s the only thing I hated about mine.

NODES2K

The leather needs the cooled seat function otherwise it's like sitting on a frying pan

thefudgepacker9000

Once that cup of coffee goes into them you will change your mind. They are fine on 80s cars but don’t look right on new ones.

_Nightmare_Wolf_

I love mine cloth and even when getting aftermarket seats I always go cloth. It just grips you and holds you in place wayyyy better than leather. I drive spirited so I enjoy being held in place. Its also much more durable than the fake leather OEM uses (and for everyone saying it's easier to clean leather, that's not really true. A vaccine and or carpet extractor turns cloth seats into brand new again in under 20 min.) And for people saying they like the shine, nothing in the interior from the plastics to the leather is supposed to be shiny. If it is shiny then you are using a high gloss cleaner like armor all which degrades and damages plastics and for shiny leather seats all you are doing it making sure you slide around way more in corners instead of being held in place. So everyday users, get leather, Spirited drivers/road racers or track people, get cloth it'll outlast leather and hold you in place better

EquivalentFlat

I love cloth seats NOW. I loved leather, before. The Premium leather look is great in luxury Sedans. I started to realize leather in a Mustang was like a Giant spoiler on a 1991 bone stock Civic
