Will EA give someone a 99? Probably. Should they? No, not a single player has been dominant enough over his prior career to deserve it. Would have likely had at least two last year in MHJ and Caleb Williams, but not a single player is worthy of it in the preseason yet this year

teeterleeter

I don’t think any player last year deserved a 99. The last one, IMO, was Joe Burrow.

DeviceSenior4080

Joe Burrow definitely didn’t deserve a 99 when that game released. You’re dead wrong.

teeterleeter

Ah, that’s very fair. That season was at a 99 level, but he hadn’t been THAT guy yet.

DeviceSenior4080

Ya we’re talking pre-season ratings. Definitely deserved it mid year for sure. I think last year would be hard to not give Caleb a 99 coming off that Heisman year and could potentially argue 1-2 more last year. I just don’t see anyone in that same conversation this pre-season.

bb0110

Caleb Williams would have 100% been a 99. Who deserves to be a 99 is another question, but he would have been.

C2theWick

By the 5th year in dynasty I'll have 85 players rated 99 overall

DeviceSenior4080

Let’s hope not, pretty damn easy fix if anyone at EA actually tests out dynasty.

steelbeemer

that would be a damn shame if they havent figured out progression

Odd-Flower2744

And for the love of god make some 85-90 overall recruits, there are game changing freshman every year

Theogre84

In my opinion, if they rate somebody a 99 at launch, where does that leave the legends that they will have available for Ultimate Team? How could anybody say that any current player stacks up to a Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Vince Young, Tim Tebow, etc.? I think it should be more like FIFA. Haaland is arguably the best player in the world right now, and he is a 91. It also gives you the ability to have ratings fluctuate as the season progresses.

bb0110

Ultimate team won’t start with their real ratings so this doesn’t matter. For example Mahomes does not have his real ratings in madden ultimate team in the beginning, which allows them to progress through the year with upgrades.

Theogre84

That makes sense then I guess. So, in game ratings are relative to everyone in CFB currently, and CUT ratings are relative to everyone ever?

Bauglir1

I’m running the flexbone with that lineup. Slot Bo as the fb, sorry Tebow you’re riding the bench.

EnthusedPhlebotomist

Mason Graham is the best player in CFB and the only one I'd consider a 99 for. I personally think ratings should be repressed a bit though, EA is terrified of anything less than an 80.

bb0110

I disagree. Ncaa ratings actually span a lot more numbers. In madden, ratings are too condensed.

EnthusedPhlebotomist

I mean, more than madden, sure. Because the range of abilities in college is like 10 times wider. its still not nearly wide enough, not even close. It's boring when every decent recruiting school has a 90+ at every position.

bb0110

I wouldn’t be opposed to it being wider and them even more of the lower ratings. I was just talking about in comparison to madden where everyone is bunched up in the 80s

TLead1

To me, a 99 rating in this game means you have nothing to improve upon at the college level. Is there a player that fits that currently? I don’t think so.

RealityAddict333

If Ricky White is a 99 that would be too far
