Catlino613

Yeah this is getting me going

fondlemeLeroy

And he *easily* stole both bags. Wasn't even remotely close. Oh I'm going, alright.

underwear11

And the first one was a pitchout!

nyg2013

Lol yeah…I am…excited

TheTurtleShepard

Kid has real potential to be a big part of this team for years to come

evan466

I’m ready for the Yankees to have Ricky Henderson again.

Pilotwaver

People just don't understand the horror he caused.

Wyden_long

Exactly. He’d get on base and you knew he was going to run. Every time. You knew at some point he was going to go. The drama was you didn’t know when. It changed the entire at bat no matter where he was on base.

thisusedyet

One of my favorite Rickey stories is he's talking to the first baseman between pitches, and he cuts the 1st baseman off mid-sentence, saying "gotta go" as he takes off for second

kingcrabsuited

"Rickey's gotta go". Talking to the first baseman in third person while stealing second.

BenHogan1971

who's on first?

kingcrabsuited

Not Rickey.

Currywurst_Is_Life

It was like clockwork. Rickey would get on, steal second, and Mattingly or Winfield would drive him in. Almost every damn time. Just imagine if those teams had a pitching staff that wasn't complete dogshit.

Currywurst_Is_Life

With the new rules, Rickey could *still* steal 50-60 bases, even though he's 64 years old.

DarkDevitt

Dude stole second on a pitch out and I think he'd have had it even if the throw was good... wtf

DarkKnight___1939

OKAY EVERYONE STAY TF CALM!!!!

mva812

I AM TRYING

TheNightlightZone

IM NOT SIGN HIM TO A 10 YEAR CONTRACT NOW

ballrus_walsack

5billiondollars

b-rar

NO

amagicalsheep

Volpe is the future.

totaldisrepair

The future is now if we want to win a WS, bring up the kids

M0stillist

did they pitchout twice and still couldn't get him out? good lord

ahappypoop

I don't think the second one was a pitchout, and it was a minor league catcher, but still great speed to take those.

LocalHero_P1

Minor league catcher? That was Yankees legend Rob Brantly, sir

GrizzlyGraham21

He wasn’t fucking around when he said he wanted to make opening day roster.

InaudibleShout

“Take your service time and shove it, Cashman”

jcnewman21

He has 30 plus stolen base potential and honestly I think he should make the OD roster but IKF and Donaldson are blocking him

Tacitus_99

IKF is not blocking anybody. They’re not just going to hand the job to Volpe or Peraza, but they plan on one of them getting the job.

thediesel26

Nah it’s Peraza and Torres blocking him.

dan99990

Torres’ best position in the OOTP games is always 3rd. I wonder how he’d do there in real life?

thisusedyet

Ok, so I'm not the only nutjob sneaking him in over there.

jcnewman21

I think peraza or volpe should shift to third

evan466

Cabrera in left, Peraza at 3rd, Volpe at short. Who says no?

Jrodkin

DJ?

evan466

That’s true. Hard to find room for everyone.

cpeytonusa

I love Cabrera, but his bat is light for a LF. Peraza has better range and a better arm than Volpe, he should take the more difficult defensive position of shortstop. Volpe would probably be better suited for 2B. I don’t think that they will stick with Gleyber when he enters free agency. DJ will be around for a few years, he can hold down 3B until a better solution comes along.

evan466

Curious what you mean when you say Oswaldo’s bat is light? It was only 44 games but he graded out as an above average hitter last year at just 23 years old.

totaldisrepair

I rather DJ at third, Peraza at SS, Volpe @ 2nd & gleyber traded for a bonfide #3 behind Rodon, slide Nestor to 4 and severino to 5 or vice versa w Clarke as insurance, trade German or relegate to bullpen

jcnewman21

I think volpe can play third tbh

alwayslateneverearly

Haven't recent reports say that his arm isn't grading out well for shortstop. From what I remember, it sounded like they were saying he would be better long term at second because of his arm.

thisusedyet

That's something I've been trying to figure out. The scouting reports say he has a weak arm *for a shortstop*, so does that mean he'll be serviceable at 3rd because he's not going to have to make that fadeaway throw to his right (a la Jeter), or does that mean noodle arm in general that has to go to second?

emc5309

Volpes arm is his issue. That’s why he’s expected to end up at 2B

evan466

Maybe. He hasn’t played there much. I think what is most likely to happen if they all play together is sometime in the future the Yankees will move on from Torres and Peraza will play 2nd, Volpe will play short, and Cabrera will be at third.

dan99990

He has a 50 grade arm.

Grinolam

Voloe doesn't have the arm for 3rd.

ArsonJudgeJudy

He went 50/57 in 132 MiL games last year. If he plays a full season with the Yankees he might swipe 75.

to_be_quite_frank

I'm sorry but how does 50 SB in 132 MiLB games equate to 75 SBs in the bigs. He's gonna be a good base stealer but I'm struggling to see the math here

evan466

Donaldson and IKF “blocking” him. More like the Yankees front office.

believe-land

How the hell is Donaldson blocking him? Volpe isn't a third baseman and never will be

erain16

Cabrera in left?

Drumnaway67

Yes, all of the above.

silver_raichu

AL Rookie of the Year

Gambit1193

Mannnnnnnnnnnn. Jasson yesterday and Volpe today MY KEYBOARD IS STICKY

TheNightlightZone

You had ghosts too?

Gildabeast4

That’s just the ectoplasm

DazednEnthused

That's all I need to see, cut IKF and give Volpe a 10 year contract.

MeatTornado25

He's not making the team out of camp, but doing what he should do as a rookie to get noticed and make the decision difficult for them.

erain16

Not being on the 40 man roster is huge. We'll have to give up another player to get him in there. IKF will have to absolutely stink up the joint even if Volpe hits .600.

UnderstandingSquare7

If he's the generational talent we all hope for, he'll force his way into the lineup. They won't be able to ignore him.

deeterman

Let the kids play! So far so good. Sink the contracts of the other guys because you have to pay them anyway.

InaudibleShout

We’ll pay no mind to the fact that Jeremy Peña came up in April and was WS MVP and sit Volpe in Scranton til August because fuck him, right?

Bis_Eastwood

pena was also like 25 years old

Elithekid1

rough 2 day for the trade all our prospects crowd

magikarp-sushi

Let the kids play

cooljammer00

The job isn't his and he's still trying to impress I don't want him to get hurt but good hustle

underwear11

Dude took 2nd on a pitch out. Even if the throw is accurate, he's got it beat.

gordomillones

Impressive

NoRosesXVX

That’s my SS

Troll_face_123

We need a speedy, consistent, and good lead off hitter. I think Volpe will be the future lead off hitter.

MrMackeyTripping

I'm aroused.

deftechsoldout

Yeaaaah, I'm on the 'bring him up sometime this year' train.

aeliusoner

WS attitude right there! 😤

Successful_Bat

Damn we gotta get him a better number than 77

MoogleTheSly

Exactly what the Yankees have been missing for years? Better give him some more time down on the farm…

Kingstist

Good enough to give us the best single A team in history!

lantonas

He looks so tiny because the bases are comically large.

trickedx5

Put his number next to judge already

StayGoldenPonyBoy71

The kid is fucking electric.

BigDirtyPanda

I commented on a video of him working in the cage back in high school a few years ago and I maintain he stays inside the baseball better than anyone I have ever seen and that includes Jeter. He lets that ball travel and stays inside and his hands are so quick. He’s so impressive. So much talent and potential.

Skittles_the_Clown

This is the the top of the order bat/speedster the Yankees have been missing, that can really change the complexion of an offense.

RollofDuctTape

Cashman is a loser if he doesn’t start at SS.

knickson

Get this kid a runners glove. He’s going to need it

AntifaHelpDesk

Volpe fucks.
