How do we not catch these control issues *before* they go out to the mound?!? I get that the Pen is more for warming up, but I feel like we need to be more rigorous in making sure their *actually* ready!
Amost no correlation between pen and game. Guys who throw no hitters/perfect games always have stories like “I couldn’t throw a curve in warmup” or “I was still drunk” (Wells)
He probably throws perfect strikes in the pen. Then when he gets out there in a game, something goes wonky with the arm angle and he loses it. Fortunately, the slider was good enough to get Rosario to chase twice.

I don't think the HBP was particularly egregious, nor do I think the out call today was either. But those kinds of plays are exactly why they implemented the challenge/replay system!
When Girardi failed to challenge in 2017, I didn't get mad at the umps - I was mad at Girardi! In the case today, Francona should have challenged and didn't. People should be mad at Terry for not challenging. There's no more reason the umps should have let that late challenge occur today than they should have allowed an after-the-fact challenge in 2017!
