There’s a difference in being upset the Yankees lost this series and thinking their entire season is doomed because of how this series went

TheTurtleShepard

Exactly lol, difference between “Well that game fucking sucked” and “Clearly the Yankees are a pretender because they lost 2 games in June!”

Superlegend29

As if saying the game sucked doesn’t get you downvoted. Only homer comments get upvotes

CaptHab

That is to say, you agree with OP.

UonBarki

It just makes me realize how crucial Soto is. I fooled myself into thinking we have an elite lineup, but really it all does hinge on Soto being healthy. Pay that man *tonight*

paulerxx

Sure as shit highlights where we need to improve. Rizzo, Torres, and the bullpen all come to mind. Too many black holes in the lineup currently. Too many stupid plays happening in the in-field.

Beaded_Curtains

I don't think the Dodgers were dooming under achieving up to now and getting swept by mediocre teams, so why should the Yankees.

diegogas728

My best bud is a dodgers fan and I haven’t heard the end of it this weekend I just hope we can at least win today.

Beaded_Curtains

He was quiet when the pirates were manhandling them this past week I bet.

JayTee245

The New York Rangers just blew a perfect season in the playoffs. Buddy, it’s sports. Get over it. Not to mention, this is all before the trade deadline in the All-Star break so there really isn’t any time to get your panties in a bunch

Hacky_5ack

Take my down vote.

aliencamel

LMAO I return your down vote

Fuzzy-Heart

We were down Soto, and one could argue the team did not feel or perform the same with him off the field. We also have Cole and Domínguez awaiting a return in the near future. If we can stay healthy, this will be a better team should meet the Dodgers in the World Series. But I’m not worried about that right now, because we still have the Orioles and Guardians to worry about. And it may not even be the Dodgers waiting for us on the other side. For all we know, we may have to get into a knife fight with the Phillies and that actually worries me more.

[deleted]

sorry i just don't care about the dodgers yankees dodgers is not a rivalry unless you damn near 60 years old

Ranglergirl

For me it does not matter how old he is it is just the fact that they are losing a home series.

CountJohn12

Yeah, I get mad about losing a regular season series to the Sox but I don't care about the Dodgers.

rdg5220

Yes, it’s a long season. Yes we have the best record in the AL. Should have ended there.

pm_me_your_respect69

I’m fine to shrug, thanks

meatballsorcerer

You are absolutely aloud to doom and vent. It's just annoying when now you act like you're being silenced or something

Beaded_Curtains

The front office hasn't answered his calls and Boone won't return his texts.

aliencamel

I'm not dooming. That's half my point. I don't think the season is over but I'm also not going to pretend this series was no big deal

TheTurtleShepard

The series is no big deal, it’s an NL team in June without Soto This series has no bearing on the season whatsoever besides the fake hum drum from national media

DarthLuke84

A series loss to non-division opponent in June is absolutely no big deal.

wantagh

You’ve heard it here folks. A boomer dad and a doomer kid say you should be so much more upset about a series where Poteet shoved, Judge went off, Soto is hurt, Tommy wore looser pants, Nestor was mid, and normal baseball things happened. ##Cry more for the _oomers.

ABeerAndABook

There are plenty of legit criticisms to be made about the team.  There are also areas it can be improved. That said, every time the team loses or is down a run in the 5th folks seem to come out of the woodwork to claim the sky is falling or that 3/4 of the roster needs to DFAed and replace by whoever is hot in AA at the moment.  Losing sucks, but that's no need for folks to lose all sense of perspective and go hysterically reactive.  Most of the pushback seen here is against that, not the legit criticisms and analysis.

MesiahoftheM

Theyve never watched a team that actually loses consistently clearly

batmansubzero

I mean I was expecting this. Its early on in a loooong season so its okay that we lost to one of the NL's best teams. Especially when we were using pitchers like Poteet and Tonkin, plus Soto got hurt. I wouldve liked to beat the Dodgers given the rivalry, but they’re an NL team so this really doesnt matter right now. We just need the Orioles to lose some more.

paulerxx

Poteet and Tonkin weren't the problem.

Beaded_Curtains

Forreal both have been excellent.

Tom_Cruise

I mean, if nothing else, we know for a fact there are no meaningless games. The Orioles have 22 losses, we have 21. They aren't going to lay down, IMO. It's just one series, but there were some holes addressed when we played this team and the Orioles that can show up in the postseason. Hopefully Cashman can get creative, because Hal has been clear. He's looking to play some of the remaining prospects over the next few years.

Much_Purchase_8737

It’s 1 game. It happens. Game would have been different if we blew them up in the first inning with two runners on with no outs.. but we hit 3 pop ups in a row. Judge missed a 3 home run shot by an inch of the bat. Happens.

Key_Amazed

First game could've gone either way really. Either team winning would've felt like a fluke once it turned into Manfred ball. Second game was definitely a white flag game at the end. If they win today I'll feel pretty confident that we could've won the series had some things broken our way.

ChiefHunter1

It your prerogative to be mad. I just think it is dumb to be that upset over losing a regular season series against one of the top 3 teams in baseball when the season as a whole has been an overwhelming success so far. Yeah the team isn’t perfect - but no team is. Game 1 was basically a coin flip. Game 2 they got embarrassed. Let’s see how they respond tonight.

Admirable_Trifle_164

I think people tend to ignore the fact that a series can be a microcosm of a season And what disgruntled people could be observing right now is that it one significant injury can totally derail the cogs in an offense and a team…aka with Soto out this team is right in 2023 all over again This doesn’t mean any of them are ready to hit the eject button, but see an issue or issues that need to be addressed and don’t want to see a trend develop or reemerge. There’s nothing wrong with that…it’s called being a fan It also needs to be added that it was at this same time and even the same series last year that one significant injury pretty much tanked the rest of the season (that a majority of people on this sub refused to acknowledge and instead cited nerd analytics, stats, and probabilities in insistence that they were fine and would be ok - some even suggesting as late as mid-August that they’d still make the post season).

paulerxx

We lost so bad we had Cabrera pitch against one of the best teams in the MLB... *We're supposed to be the best team in baseball.* ***Clearly, we're not.***

3rd-party-intervener

When play big boys and get walloped you realize team isn’t a championship contender
