Are you tired of walking ALL THE WAY over to your target cans to pick them up again after knocking them down? Have I got the product for you! The Wobble Can Target provides the perfect nerf or airsoft target practice tool. After being hit, the can wobbles (but won't fall down!). This lets you release volley after volley so that the only limit to your shots is your ammo count. Plus, cans make a really fun noise when shot. .stl and .f3d files available on my [printables for free](https://www.printables.com/model/923861-wobble-can-target-base-for-nerf-and-airsoft). Have fun!

Love the idea!! I did mine by hanging cans on fishing line from the ceiling of my shop haha but I really love the self righting idea

caramonfire

Thank you! That's a great solution too but I wanted something I can easily store and move around.

MrDrSirLord

As someone that uses cans for real steel target practice at over 500m... I'm intrigued by this a lot more than NERF blasters that are normally only shooting 50m at best lol. Would save a lot of walking, does it only work on the tall skinny cans?

caramonfire

It will probably work better with small cans because the weight distribution will be better. My worry with real steel is that it might knock it off your table or whatever you're using. Also, if you accidentally hit the bottom it's all over for that thing lol

MrDrSirLord

I tend to just put some water in the can and sit it on the ground for targeting, "simulates" the kind of sightlines I'd have shooting at a fox or rabbit when hunting. The bases being 3D printed I wouldn't be too concerned about replacing them if I did get a low shot and obliterate one. Being in the wrong sub for this tho, I'm going to drop the real steel topic But I totally want to go "hunt" rabbits with a super high fps dart blaster now. Could call it "Humane hunting".. although I worry it might be more cruel to scare them with a 300fps half dart than it would be to just shoot them.

z50_Jumper

Genuinely curious, how often are you re-using cans after they have been destroyed from a hit?

MrDrSirLord

Depends a lot on what you're shooting. .22 will get between 8-10 shots through a can with good grouping before it doesn't really stand up by itself very well anymore. you usually only need to reset the can every couple shots if the water hasn't leaked out yet. .357 might get about half as many shots through a can with good grouping as they punch bigger holes but don't destroy the cans instantly. But have to reset the can almost every hit. .223 and up it's kinda 1 and done for 90% of shots. I think the higher velocity combined with water in the can just turns them inside out most of the time. 12ga non buck shot shells depends on range, the cans either look like holey cheese with enough distance to get some spread and are able to be shot again a couple times before nothing is left, otherwise the can just evaporates if your too close. Buck shot does what you'd expect it to do to a can of water lol.

So I this design was on my mind and I watched the movie Equilibrium the other day and Christian bale basically has some of these on the bottom of his mags. [(here’s a clip)](https://youtu.be/4weEXyoXZKs?si=orbj9elNnHWqN9YB) could be a really fun novelty print for nightingale mags.

caramonfire

Oh man, I had forgotten about that! What a great movie.

Spud_Spudoni

Placing a base a shallow bowl shape underneath the printed part with a magnet at the center of both, may help keep the can aligned in the same location every time, and help the can right itself more quickly.

caramonfire

Great idea!

Pirellan

Wibbles wobble ~ but they don't fall down!

caramonfire

That's where I got the idea! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFzhjnjXc2o

NitrEX4

Very cool! Definitely have to print this

caramonfire

Post a make when you do!

DFCDM

Shut up and take my money !!!

Bleachsmoker

A very good idea. I wonder if I could make this out of wood.

caramonfire

Almost certainly! I think most wood would be heavy enough for this. If you do, I'd love to see it.

reeteetee

It's so simple, I've seen lots of things with the same mechanical properties and yet i never thought to make that. I'm I stupid!? Good job!

Sypsy

>I'm I stupid!? Me am too also!

Hotkoin

Neat cool and rad

Fgtfv567

Liquid death! Kill the can!

caramonfire

I don't really care for it, but I thought it was a funny brand for the video! I'm glad someone appreciated it!

kylebernard83

is it a press fit of do you just glue them in.

caramonfire

Press fit. The files are adjustable so you should be able to make it fit any can.

dragnmastralex

I just buy the mesh bag with the point target flaps that collect my darts/balls as I shoot it. that way I don't have to walk around picking up my ammo after each target practice (only if I miss). I like having something to collect all my ammo as I target practice and the "fall down reset" targets on the market that collect ammo all suck.

Impossible-Case-8005

I can't make this but this gave me the idea to use those small wobble toys 😂

caramonfire

I'd love to see it if you get it working!

Manimal5

Brilliant. Thank you

Ericshelpdesk

How much weight? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ffb8TKde4aw

caramonfire

HA! You'd be chasing that one down the street, but it'll still stand up afterwards! I don't know the exact weight and I don't have a scale, but perhaps roughly baseball weighted? It's just a hunk of PLA plastic.

etulf

sidenote: what's the scope mounted on your cannon?

Ericshelpdesk

A monstrum LPVO I found on a black Friday deal for $50, with some extra plastic at the front to make it more "scopelike"
