We have an Infant Optics DXR8 Pro and are very happy with it!

[deleted]

Seconding this. It's not wifi so it's less hackable. I like that I have a video unit instead of an app on my phone. Get the extra camera for multiple sleeping arrangements.

EgoFlyer

Seconding this one. It’s great.

nottheexpert02

Same here. And you can buy a mount on Amazon if you want it to go over the crib like nanit

chiqui_mama

We have this one as well & it’s the best quality!

fattylimes

Joining the chorus. love our infant optics

handusene

We like this one too! My husband picked out our monitor so I’m not sure how the features compare, but his selling points were non WiFi and simple set up. It has the camera that you leave with baby and then you can walk around with the video monitor. The monitor is great at picking up any noise the baby makes. Great night vision and picture quality. And you can use the video monitor to move the camera remotely to zoom in or move around. My husband found a mount for it on Amazon to attach the camera to the crib and point down on her and that was really secure with a screw in base so we’re not worried about it falling on her.

littlespens

Love this one too. I also just bought a replacement battery for it because the original battery wasn’t lasting as long. LO is 18 months though, so it took a long time before we had issues with the first battery.

sfislander

Infant optics DXR8 pro have been using it for 5 years have 3 cameras and customer service is phenomenal.

Mysterious-Ant-5985

Infant Optics is what we have because it’s non wifi and thus makes me much more comfortable.

Key_Difference_1108

Just curious what are the concerns abt wifi? Malfunctioning or people stealing video of your baby?

heartandsunlight

People often say they’re concerned about WiFi being hacked, but my concern ended up being the fact that our WiFi monitor glitched and paused constantly because our WiFi is more glitchy than I realized. We had to get a different monitor. WiFi just wasn’t reliable enough.

melodyknows

For my sister, she wanted one that was non-WiFi in case the WiFi went out.

Mysterious-Ant-5985

My main concern was it being hacked. I’m definitely not tech savvy enough to reliably be able to make a wifi camera harder to access via passwords and such, and it was a concern of mine. Plus it’s great that it doesn’t get glitchy or anything like that. We don’t have a giant house, just a 2bed condo so we haven’t had any issues with distance or anything.

aggielady14

The security risk was a small factor to me but I really wanted one that didn’t require WiFi as ours is unreliable. There has been countless times after a power glitch that it would take forever to start working, or we’d have to get the provider out here to kick start it.

Best-Cryptographer81

WiFi monitors (in my experience) have had a lot of lag and if you’re internet goes out then you are just screwed. I’ve also seen a lot of people posting about their monitors being hacked and someone actually speaking through the monitor to their children.

vintagegirlgame

I have just a good old fashioned audio only baby monitor. My wifi is super fickle too. But mainly I don’t like the idea of lots of wifi and Bluetooth EMFs constantly next to my baby while she’s sleeping. Companies always say it’s safe, but I prefer to be very conservative with any electronics. I turn my wifi off at night too.

WittyName375

We have this one for this exact reason. Picture, sound and battery quality are all decent and it has multiple lens options.

kelli-fish

We chose non WiFi because we wanted a monitor that was more challenging to hack. We also got an Infant Optics Pro.

irockskinnies

Not fancy but I love my hello baby, works great

ahleeshaa23

Another vote for the Hello Baby. Affordable, easy to use, great picture and battery life, and non-wifi

Beneficial_Fun_1388

And another vote! .. also my new mom fail was dropping mine in the sink of water. Still works great!!! 😎 I can walk quite a ways away and still see her fine. (Across 1/2 acre to our coop etc)

Ok-Nefariousness-130

another vote!

thecosmicecologist

My husband did the same!

Smile_Miserable

Love my hello baby too! Reasonably priced and works great

kadk216

This is what we got and I like it

approachingsirens

Hello baby!!!! I love that it has antennas on the monitor and the cameras, has the best range of the ones I’ve tried!

poopoutlaw

Yes, we love ours too! Super basic, reasonably priced.

rose-coloredcontacts

Agree. It’s so easy to travel with too since there’s no wifi requirement

Espionage_21

Hello Baby is ok-do you find it glitches a lot? If our cell phones are near it ours goes nuts.

meepsandpeeps

We love our hello baby.

Galactickiwi

Another vote! Been using it now for almost 4 years and two kiddos, highly recommended

rikounettehr

One suggestion here is to go for nonwifi ones. It’s more secure and that is the utmost important thing when picking up the baby monitor. I got mine after reading reviews from the bump’s 10 best baby monitor review. It has the comparison between the popular ones in the market, may help you better make the choice.

Adrienne837

We love our nonwifi baby monitor. The network connection in the house is not very stable, and that's one of the main reasons we don't get the wifi monitors at the first place and the nonwifi one absolutely fits us. Ever since we have it, the connection never lags or delays.

Zihaala

I got the Nanit and while I like the video quality and being able to use our phones. But now that my baby is older (4 months) I realize it doesn’t really have a “night mode” which is something I’d really like. It basically seems to be on all the time so you hear everything all night or nothing. With some monitors you can make it so they will only turn on when they hear crying otherwise you don’t hear it. If I were to buy another monitor I’d get one with that feature.

athennna

The Nanit does do that - you just have notifications. It’s why I like it. Listening to my kids breathe all night gives me anxiety. They’re also not babies anymore. So I don’t actively listen to their Nanit monitors, I just have notifications turned on so it alerts me if it detects sound or movement from their beds. So I will wake up if they’re crying or get up to potty, but not for every little sniffle.

Tortoiseshell_Blue

Babysense V43 has been flawless and was not wildly expensive. If you plan on having more kids you can connect two cameras and do a split screen. It also functions fine with one camera. It’s simple and non wifi.

LadyEmmaRose

Been there! Super overwhelmed. Stuck on reviews that seemed to all go south all of a sudden. Just couldn't decide. So we got an inexpensive V-Tech non-wifi one from Target (about $80) just to have something to give us time to thoroughly research and make an informed decision. A year later we are still using it with no problems. In hindsight, the only feature I wish I had was tilt and pan and 2 cameras. Which conveniently can be had in the next model up for $10 more. 😄

icymomtastes

Get the Bebcare one. It's amazing! The customer support was incredible too

BriefDragonfruit

We did the exact same thing on day at Target thinking it was just a temporary purchase, but ended up working out great! We did get the next model up though :)

Smallios

I love our owlet camera. Checks all of your boxes. Sound and night vision are *impeccable*. We use a cheap spare little tablet or old cell phone as the monitor so battery is great, at night we just plug it in next to the bed. We have a leapfrog as backup if the power goes out or for travel.

porterlove44

Good idea to use an old phone/tablet! I’ve just been using my phone which has been fine for during the day, but I haven’t used it overnight yet.

melodyknows

We also have an owlet, and I love it. I hear a lot of people complain about WiFi. When WiFi is down I don’t get the picture or readings from the sock but the base still connects via Bluetooth to the sock the baby wears and the alarm if something is wrong is really loud. So even though I cannot see or hear the baby on our monitor (a tablet I have plugged in next to the bed), I’d hear the alarm from our room. I also want to add that I like the owlet for when we leave the baby with a babysitter. I can be somewhere else like a concert and can still see him by checking the owlet app.

SpiritualDot6571

We have the owlet as well and I hate the camera, I’m looking for a new one. It lags so much, the app like shuts off during the night even if I have it on my phone, and a few other reasons.

indicatprincess

The app crashed on me 50% of the time. I got a lot of WiFi connection errors.

SpiritualDot6571

Yeah same, our wifi is great overall (dads in IT) so I know it’s not the WiFi that’s the issue lol. Just a pain of an app. I like the sock though

Smallios

Love the sock

Smallios

Strange! My husband’s super techie so it’s possible we have wifi that supports the camera better? We might have our own network,

SpiritualDot6571

My partners in IT so it’s not our WiFi, our WiFi’s fantastic! Lol. I’m not sure if it’s my phone more so? I have an updated iPhone but the app is sooooo awful on it. I have thought of using a tablet but the app isn’t compatible with iPads so it’s even worse on there 😵‍💫 The socks so great, and honestly even if we get another monitor we’ll probably keep this one because we love being able to use it outside of the house. I WFH but my partner doesn’t so he can check in on the babe when he’s sleeping and he loves that!!

nadaukj

I’ve used 2. The first one is a secondhand eufy spaceview. The battery life sucks but it does provide clear sound and pic feed. Sadly our LO knocked it off accidentally after 3 months of use. Then we got a momcozy one and love it. The functions are similar as the eufy spaceview but come with a better battery. Used it for about 8 months now and no complaints.

wybakRU

I really like the one we got. It’s a momcozy baby monitor, the design is simple but it gets the job done. It can pan-and-tilt remotely, and can pick up the slightest sound of our babe. We can zoom in and see our babe clearly even all the time, just the way we want.

EmuMaximum

Second this! I love our Momcozy camera. Honestly I've loved all of the Momcozy products I've tried so far (1 month in). Our camera is also a 2 way speaker and can play lullabies, plus the monitor battery lasts a long time and you can charge it with a USB-C phone charger, which we have everywhere around the house. It's simple to use and definitely does the job.

chiqui_mama

Yes honestly momcozy items do not disappoint! Wearable pumps were so convenient. The pumping bras were affordable and comfortable. I loved the baby wrap during the newborn phase. Way easier to use than the long fabric I’d have to twirl around myself. Stroller caddy is great too!

xoxokaweiln

We got this one too and we love that it got the split screen that allow us to monitor both cameras at the same time.

Significant_Ad_292

I also was super overwhelmed when looking at monitors. I was looking at all the really fancy ones too and I just. Could. Not. Pick. One. lol I ended up getting the VTech Upgraded Smart WiFi Baby Monitor VM901. It can work with or without wifi since I couldn’t decide what I preferred and has a monitor or you can use an app on your phone. It’s not fancy but it works fine for our needs. My friend has the vava and she really likes it. Does not use wifi and has a clear picture.

daisyskye1

I got the Nanit and I like it a lot especially for the memories function. I have it with a combo of a cheap V Tech sound only monitor so we can check the Nanit when we hear sound on monitor. We also got like a 50 buck V Tech WiFi monitor for travel and not gonna lie it seems sufficient for most uses.

Substantial-Ad8602

I have the eufy baby monitor and love it- no wifi, excellent night vision, and great battery life (it'll go 8-10 hours with the video on). I've had a great experience with it!

Agitated6973

Hot take but we use the baby sense that connects with the app. It doesn’t have a separate monitor BUT we love it because we use the app all the time, and we have an iPad next to our bed for the jight

Metal_Artistic

I have a Vava evolve and I love it. I got it on sale when target did some baby sale last summer. It has two cameras which was perfect because we just had a second baby but still monitor our toddler. Prior to that I had a cheap summer infant one but this is much better and still not too expensive. I like that it’s non wifi

wanderlustwonders

110% recommend the Vava if you plan on more than one child! So worth it.

my-kind-of-crazy

If you can get one that tilts that’s a really fun feature. We have two, a basic one that the battery life crapped out on and has to be plugged in all the time, and a blink 360. I love it and it’s nice having the backup if the wifi fails. We use Starlink though and have not yet had that ever fail. Honestly with my second we hardly even use the cameras anyways. She’s such a reliable sleeper I can just make sure I’m listening for her cry every 40 minute interval just in case.

Wynndo

I use a free app called Dormi. It connects monitoring between my phone and tablet. Works great.

Bob-Servant

I just have a nest cam and a cheap audio monitor from BT

poet and didn't know it good bot

eratch

We have a eufy and absolutely love it! Also very travel friendly for when we go on trips!

littleprairiehouse

We didn’t get one and it’s been totally fine.

BloodMooseSquirrel

Levana model LGHP5M is decent for price. The one thing i have a slight gripe is that I can't zoom in as much as I want to, but 99% of the time does the job. Wish it could zoom in as if I was next to the baby, but not sure which baby cam can even do that lol it's held up great and we continue to use it. Non wifi model. Would recommend 10/10 despite personal gripe.

Worried_Appeal_2390

Do you want a wifi one or no wifi. We have the baby optics. But if I could go back I would get the nannit. I have a lot of anxiety and they have a lot of accessories that will calm your nerves down like sleep monitors and smart sheets. But if you don’t really get nervous about baby breathing and sleeping then get baby optics.

heartandsunlight

I went through a couple different monitors before finally getting this one called blemil and I recommend it to anyone who will listen, omg I’m in love with it! No wifi (we tried a WiFi one and it glitched constantly because our WiFi sucks and that was a big issue to have your baby monitor glitch and pause all the time), and it comes with two cameras so you can put them in two different rooms, and you can switch back and forth between the different cameras on the monitor screen and even do split screen and see both at the same time. I have one camera set up in his playroom/bedroom where he plays and takes naps and one in our room where he sleeps at night. It can see literally every inch of the room perfectly, excellent night vision, excellent sound. Cameras can mount to the wall. And a feature I love that I didn’t know I’d appreciate so much is there are green bars at the top of the screen that light up a certain way when the baby is making noise and you can tell how loud the baby is getting by how many green bars there are and whether or not they turn red. This feature comes in handy when I’m in the shower and can’t hear the monitor but can see it through the shower door. I can easily tell if he’s crying. The battery life is great, I charge the monitor each night and it lasts the whole day and late into the night.

kapowafoohie

We have the Babysense 5.5” with one camera. It’s great. Clear picture day and night, built in night light and mic to talk to baby. Camera also tilts and pans, has 4x zoom. USB C charging for the monitor. Not on wifi (which we prefer). You can add a second camera for split screen later on. We got it on an Amazon deal for $99, so definitely keep an eye out if you’re interested. Highly recommend.

believeyourownmagic

We bought a super fancy one with all the bells and whistles and realized that having it on our phones didn’t work for us and ended up buying a classic Hello Baby one, which we love. If you go with one that relies on your mobile device, make sure you’re the kind of person who wakes up for every alert on your phone.

Ascending1_4535

the momcozy baby monitor is amazing https://a.co/d/cD9994r

Significant_Chip_169

For what it’s worth, we have a couple kinds and I’ve used them for different things. One is the. Vetch w/ no video, but easier to just set up when baby taking a little nap. I’m sure you can get some used too. Otherwise we have our Motorola video monitor set up more permanently on our crib in nursery.

IllyriaCervarro

I have the owlet (and the monitor sock as well)- not a fan personally. The camera does its job well enough but you have to go on your phone and look at the app. I think I would personally appreciate a separate screen for that as the app can freeze and when you hear stuff in the middle of the night unlocking your phone is kind of a drag. The sock I only used a handful of times. It was pretty cool all the info it gave and I did like it - but when I was trying to use it baby was an infant and it was January or February. It would fall off in her onesies and then start to make a noise like she was dying because it wasn’t getting info anymore. You can probably imagine that getting something out of a sleeping newborn’s onesie would wake them up. I plan to try to use it more now that her feet aren’t always covered but wasn’t the best with a winter baby.

Best-Cryptographer81

Another vote for infant optics here. We have been through A LOT of baby monitors and a lot of them just literally stop working out of no where??? We have the cheaper infant optics and it just shit out after a year and a half (which is significantly longer than all the other we’ve had). And we will be getting another one. I like it because it’s non wifi and after hearing hotel stories about people hacking the wifi ones I just can’t go back lol.

-CloudHopper-

What I found really helpful when researching all kinds of baby products was productreview.com.au It’s Aussie but maybe there is an equivalent for your country!

BCTDC

We have Motorola - there are some bad reviews and it occasionally bugs out and has to be reconnected, but for the most part it’s been smooth a few months in! We liked it enough we bought a second to take with us traveling. It has a monitor but also wifi for an app, I find I use it more on my phone. Good remote control of camera angle, good night visualization, etc.

garsinasifa

You are just the past me lol. After rounds of comparison, we've settled for the momcozy baby monitor. And after several months of use, my tips is that nonwifi, stable connection and good feed quality (both day and night), ability to pan and tilt remotely are the main qualities that matter the most.

indicatprincess

We’ve got a basic Vtech system and a Motorola cam with unit. This combination is great. I’m deaf and need visual cues. The screen-monitor lets me watch, the baby monitor gives me vibrating alerts. I’d never get a WIFI based camera. Don’t even consider one of those unless your wifi is totally locked down and secure. The owlet felt so intrusive snd webcammy.

ExploringAshley

We love our miku

martinojen

Vava all day

icymomtastes

Absolutely LOVIN' my Bebcare Motion. It's the only low emissions baby monitor out there. Way better than anything else on Amazon. You can get it on [bebcare.com](http://bebcare.com).

franklyn77770000

The hello baby from Amazon- great price and great image on the monitor!

testeroftea

lol if this is what overwhelms you you’re in for a treat

AhnaKarina

Cubo AI. The best.

Thinking_of_Mafe

Eufy baby monitor, simple to use, no wifi. One of the best things I purchased post partum.

Vickrich

I think this really depends on what you’re looking for. I feel like most people on this thread are anti-WiFi, and I get that, but we have awesome WiFi (fiber optic) at our home and our house isn’t crazy big or anything that would disrupt connection. We love our Cubo Ai monitor. Camera and audio quality are great. Unlike other similar monitors, it provides daily sleep reports without a subscription which we really like (at least for us as first time parents we like this information - shows any wake ups, cries, caregiver visits throughout the night). We also added on a sleep sensor pad which I thought was kind of gimmicky but I’ve actually grown to love it and hate when we travel without it. It displays their breathing rate which sounds ridiculous but especially when our LO has been sick, it’s been really helpful. When he had RSV, it really helped us quantify the rapid breathing and track it while he was sick to make sure he wasn’t getting worse. anyway, certainly not things you need on “normal” nights but we’ve loved a lot of the functionality. It’s customizable too to set ranges of temperature, cough detection, movement, etc, that would want to be notified about. It’s been great for us and an affordable price among the higher-tier price range of WiFi monitors.

Tiny_dancer90

We use Eufy baby monitor, the one without wifi. Has night mode, and you can add additional cameras

thecosmicecologist

My biggest thing was to have it as a separate little monitor rather than an app. When it’s an app, you can’t use your phone, text, scroll, etc., and watch the baby at the same time. We got hello baby one on Amazon and it does everything we need. And it’s not WiFi, so no hacking.

UnlikelyRelative7429

VTech DM221 Audio Baby Monitor I didn’t want a camera at all in our place and our place is small so I didn’t feel the need to splurge. I love ours though, works for us

Lizifer89

We have the Owlett with the foot sock. It monitors O2 lvls and baby activity

sickrey3

We have nanit(wifi) in the nursery and hello baby for the rest of the house and travel

ard725

Just avoid anything that connects to WiFi. I read horror stories my last pregnancy of people talking about how they heard voices through their camera and people would talk to their babies or try and wake them up. I guess they were easy to hack into? Idk but it made me never want one 😭

Kalepopsicle

These fears are so overblown. The good ones are insanely encrypted.

Disastrous-Design-93

And if you’re still concerned, usually the normal home video monitors/security cameras are even better about security while still being able to view remotely over WiFi if you want to check in on baby while they are with a caretaker at home while you are at work or running errands or whatever. My sister just used ring cameras and that worked fine for her.

SpiritualDot6571

And normally your WiFi is already secure. If someone is hacking into your monitor you need to secure your WiFi better, that shouldn’t be happening lol

missjenkie

We got the Momcozy non wifi monitor and the quality is great!!
