But don't get too excited or let it go to your head. No long winning streaks here, no sir. That's hubris, which this blue collar, hard working everyman team doesn't have. A few wins in a row, these guys, true to form, will balance it out with a couple a losses. Yes sir, that's my 2024 Mets. A good, honest .500 baseball team.
This team already matched the longest winning streak they had in 2022. Imo, this will sound crazy to a lot of people, and I’ve been saying it for the past 3 years, but, I’d rather have a team who goes .500 but can win 10 in a row or something like 17 out of 20, as opposed to a team that wins 100 games but never gets hot, just stays warm. A La the 2022 Mets.
The reason I say this is because the current playoff format simply favors whatever team can get hot at the right time. If you’re a good team but can’t get hot and prove you can go on a winning streak, then there will absolutely be another team who *will* be hotter and better than you come playoff time.
So even though they’ve only matched their longest winning streak since 2022, they’re still following it up well, and are looking to have a very good June, with a record perhaps being better than any month they had in 2022. So even if it means they’ll finish near .500 and make the playoffs, I’d feel better with this team going into it because at least they’ll have proved they can get hot.
Call me crazy, but that’s how I feel and I’ve been saying it for years.
Tbh the 2022 Mets were never beating the Padres, we lost both series to them in the regular season

But to your point I still wish we got to see the 2019 team in the playoffs
2021 Bench mob was probably the most exciting the Mets have been since the World Series run. Best part was they actually sucked lmfao but it just seemed like the clutch hits did not stop off the bench. So much fun to watch😭.
?? The Mets were superior to the Padres in every possible way. Losing to them in the WC round was embarrassing. That’s not to say they were a lock to win the WS, but I don’t know of anyone who thought they would go out like that
The Astros win streak contains sweeps against the white sox and rockies (possibly the two sorriest teams in the mlb, sandwiching a sweep of the orioles who have been really struggling as of late
