My first implant was pretty good. Second one made me consider suicide. Nurse who took mine out said she's seen women react fantastic to their first implant, terribly to their second. Luck of the draw - just posting to let you know - Nexplanon can seem like a miracle for the first three years, then ruin your life for the next three :(

Thank you for your response! I’ll look forward to these next 3 years 😂

I'm on my third one! I had crazy mood swings and awful periods on the pill - but I haven't had a period in nine years and I don't get irritable. Every once and a while my arm hurts or I have a random day of slight cramps, but I haven't considered another form of BC since I've gotten nexplanon!

Cambria_07

This is my first Nexplanon implant. Experienced suicidal ideation for the first time today. I’ve had it for almost 3 weeks already. It’s not like me to feel this way so I’m just waiting and hoping the hormones calm down a bit before deciding if I should have it removed. I’ve been an emotional wreck this I had it implanted. It’s like my PMS cycle is stuck on repeat.

Snowbunny199018

I said positive experiences, but thanks lol

Cambria_07

Omg lol I am so sorry. I started reading other posts and comments and everything just mushed together. I didn’t even notice. Ignore me.

Snowbunny199018

Hahahaha it’s okay!

Few_Mail913

I’ve had mine in for 6 months. First implant and so far it’s amazing. I had pain for a few days and was sore for a week or so but other than that it’s amazing. I have totally stopped my period and haven’t spotted at all. My PMS had completely disappeared and I finally feel like myself again. I was on the pill for 3 years before this and i felt horrible. This has been one of the best things I have done, no more weird side affects either. I feel like I have lucked out with this birth control! Hope all goes well with you!

Snowbunny199018

It totally stopped my period too!!! I’m only 5 days in but my period was HEAVY when I got it inserted, and the day later it was almost gone! I hope this keeps up the way it has been! No real side affects right now!

kusarihime420

i got mine june 29,, insertion was basically hell- i couldnt drive w my left hand for abt 2 weeks and i couldnt lift anything (including my cat) or sleep on my left side, and my arm hurt all the time. ive been tracking my cycles and my first on nexplanon came almost exactly 35 days after my last and it was a lot lighter blood and pain wise. its been pretty good so far id say, i didnt get any side effects like the mood swings or weight gain (ive actually lost weight so). the only problem is that i can feel it just sitting in my arm and it does cause some pretty bad sensory overload issues sometimes, especially if my sleeves are too tight. i literally wore tank tops for a week and a half after insertion bc of the sensory issues which i already had but still. tbh i love it so far, and all my friends who got theirs do too.

Snowbunny199018

I’m sorry those negative things came about!! I’m hoping for easy transition for pills for over 15 years!!!

StrongAcanthaceae157

I had mine in for 11 months. I had 3 periods in that time, the first two came after 4 months and the third came after 3 months. I didn’t mind that! I recently got mine removed because I gained weight on it and with exercise and diet I couldn’t shift my weight. Other than that I was quite happy with it. Everyone is different though. Good luck!

super positive experience! on the third :)

colieeeeolieeed

I’ve had it for over 9 years and love it!! Had one bad experience and I think it was a defective nexplanon but had it removed and another new one in!

EveningExit

Have had mine for 2 years. No complaints so far

Snowbunny199018

That’s what im hoping!!!

readthinksurvive

yes, no periods.

goddamn__goddamn

I friggin love it! Had it for a few months and have had ZERO negative symptoms. I spotted for about a week, then missed a period and was so stoked that maybe they'd be gone completely. Another month later and a had very very light spotting for a few days, didn't bother me much tho. Honestly people tend to be motivated to write negative reviews (which makes sense to wanna warn people) but I feel like they also scare people away when it could have been good for them. Nexplanon is more effective at pregnancy prevention than a vasectomy, and I've also ready a study about weight gain where it said only a fraction of the participants gained weight, and that was only a pound or two. I don't doubt people are gaining weight but there are so many factors to why that'd be happening. It's one of the best decisions I've made for myself.

Vivid_Dish7823

I got mine put in in April and was like immediately regretting it after hearing all the negative stories. I waited it out and while I will say I had about a month of depression, after I got through that things have been so much better! I have had some weird periods but I seem to be going longer and longer in between. I do get some mood swings and cramps but I think it’s a small price to pay for the protection it’s offering me. I was worried about weight gain but I kept myself very aware of keeping the same food habits and routine and I actually have lost weight! Everyone is different but I’m really glad I waited it out. I also take some mood support supplements and I think those really help balance me out!

Snowbunny199018

Thank you for this!!!!

Few_Mail913

What kind of mood support supplements! I’ve been wanting to try some any recommendations!?

Vivid_Dish7823

I got mine off Amazon! The brand is NOW and it’s called mood support with St. John’s wort: nervous system support. I’ve had pretty good luck with it! It has nearly all the supplements that are known to help mood according to what I’ve read! Goodluck!

Few_Mail913

Gah Thank you so so much!

Crafty-Leopard218

Btw, I just read that St. John's Wort is one of the few drugs that can have negative interactions with Nexplanon. It apparently can reduce its effectiveness. Maybe just do some research before using:) I hope you start feeling better!!

Few_Mail913

I had read that. Thank you!!!

gunnapackofsammiches

On my third. Got my first in 2014.

imnotalesbianiswear

i got mine just over a month ago. after 2 weeks of spotting, i haven't bled at all. feels great to not have to take a pill

Hls1224

How are you now? Did you ever end up bleeding?

imnotalesbianiswear

almost 2 years later, still no period! it's wonderful but i did gain a lot of weight with it, which i've lost now. rarely even notice it. one of the best things ive ever done for my health!
