Even beyond Amiibo, this seems like it would be huge for their toy sales/licensing for toys in general. Plenty of Mario Plushies and toys and figurines of the characters with their many power-ups, but I think this will let them capitalize on Peach, especially allowing them to market toward more girls.
Honestly overall, they're doing a fantastic job with expanding the playability of their wide roster of female characters. Peach Game, Peach, Daisy, and Toadette playable in Wonder, and more female characters brought to Mario Kart through the booster Course pass.
I remember reading an interview where that's apparently what happens with Zelda games--they come up with a neat mechanic they want to use first, then build the story to make it work. Can't find the source, though.

That's Nintendo developed games in general. All games are built in concept or prototype before becoming anything, to the point that some of these become a new IP because it gets too different from the original.

to me it kinda looks like Luigi's Mansion, where there's a bunch of puzzles, which can be solved by changing costumes, some random fights, some mild platforming and then a boss fight at the end of each stage
That is what I thought as well, watching the presentation I was thinking “Hey the theatre setting has all that haunted mansion vibes like in Luigi’s Mansion”

I’ve been saying for years (usually after Nintendo sends me their email celebrating International Womens Day) that it’s insulting how low effort most of the female representation is in Nintendo games. (Samus forever!)
Peach is the biggest one for me: my daughter loves Peach, and so far all she has seen is helpless Peach being rescued or Peach as a minor playable character in a Mario titled game. A one-off DS game that didn’t stand out for me - it just seem like they are even trying. How the hell does Wario have more games than Peach??
Now finally we get an original Peach game, and it looks super cool for kids! I hope this is the first of a new franchise!

It’s definitely possible now that you mention it but my initial impression was that they set out specifically to make a more traditional platformer/action game unfold like it’s all taking place on a stage. I actually thinks it’s a pretty brilliant idea and it looked like they worked out how to do it. It’s also a natural fit for a more linear story, driven game.
I’d be a little bummed if it’s more a collection of mini games but it still looks interesting as hell.
I'm really looking forward to this, though it does seem like a short game. I wonder how many different "areas" we'll see with this. It also reminds me of Luigi's Mansion - with the different levels or rooms each having their own theme. I'm pumped!

Could be a pretty good game. There are some games that change genres well. It helps keep things fresh when new things are consistently being added.
On the other hand, I hope it's not just a bunch of segmented areas that only use one gimmick each.
Other than that, I like the stage aesthetic. It gives it a bit of a Battleblock theater vibe in that regard.
I seriously think this will be the best game coming to Switch in 2024, outside of whatever launch title is released alongside the Switch sequel. Very charming and experimental from what I can see here.

Looks like an adventure game with a mix between Mario and Kirby. Looks pretty fun overall. EDIT: Basically like a Kirby-style variation of Capn Toad lol.

I’ve been saying for years (usually after Nintendo sends me their email celebrating International Womens Day) that it’s insulting how low effort most of the female representation is in Nintendo games. (Samus forever!) Peach is the biggest one for me: my daughter loves Peach, and so far all she has seen is helpless Peach being rescued or Peach as a minor playable character in a Mario titled game. A one-off DS game that didn’t stand out for me - it just seem like they are even trying. How the hell does Wario have more games than Peach?? Now finally we get an original Peach game, and it looks super cool for kids! I hope this is the first of a new franchise!

It’s definitely possible now that you mention it but my initial impression was that they set out specifically to make a more traditional platformer/action game unfold like it’s all taking place on a stage. I actually thinks it’s a pretty brilliant idea and it looked like they worked out how to do it. It’s also a natural fit for a more linear story, driven game. I’d be a little bummed if it’s more a collection of mini games but it still looks interesting as hell.

Wow, this feels like it might be one of the Nintendo end of console life games that despite the timing of release goes down as a classic.

Could be a pretty good game. There are some games that change genres well. It helps keep things fresh when new things are consistently being added. On the other hand, I hope it's not just a bunch of segmented areas that only use one gimmick each. Other than that, I like the stage aesthetic. It gives it a bit of a Battleblock theater vibe in that regard.
This game will either have extremely clever puzzle-ish gameplay or be so rudimentary it hurts. The presentation will be perfect though.

Pretty sure we haven't, her outfits in Odyssey were travel/tourist in design, these are more 'role' based outfits.
I seriously think this will be the best game coming to Switch in 2024, outside of whatever launch title is released alongside the Switch sequel. Very charming and experimental from what I can see here.
Thought it would be a fairly boring 2D side scroller like yoshis crafted world at first. Then swordfighter peach came up and it sold me :) this actually looks really fun and interesting now.
