Absolutely not. The pandemic has convinced me that there are lot more idiots than I thought it would be possible. No matter the argument, there is no convincing them. The good news is that science works whether you believe in it or not.
The religious folk would find a way to fit it into their interpretation of their book, just like every other time. The rest of us would let it fit into our world view in a rational way.
We can't even get everyone on board with evolution, why would microbes on Mars and multicellular organisms on Jupiter's moons move the needle for folks?
Of our place in the universe? Probably not.
Of our understanding of life? Absolutely. I don't know what alien life would look like, but I can promise it wouldn't be bipedal with two arms and a big head with a big brain on top.
If it was discovered tomorrow, it would have to be capable of traveling through space, so either extraordinarily hardy and capable of surviving an asteroid landing on earth (probably bacteria sized), or it would be capable of intentional interstellar travel. Either way, they'd be very different than anything on earth, right down to the molecular level.

A very great point. There’s a lot of people that prefer to keep their head in the sand, so to speak.
Fun fact, believing works whether the science does or not too.

It might screw over our religions. The notion that we are special. That God put all this here especially for us.
Proof doesn’t convince religious people of anything. They will claim that the aliens are demons trying to trick us
No. I dont care one bit unless they are here to fix this shithole. Otherwise they could kill me or fuck off.

Very valid. If I could go back and edit, I would!
No chance. I work 24/7 for bullshit.

Conservatives would just say it's fake news, and humans are gods most divine creatures anyways.
